Malayalam film Irul on NetFlix is not as bad a movie that is supposed to be by the reviewers. For one Faahad Fasil has a role that he can easily fit into and he does that to perfection. The problem is with Soubin, who plays a suave businessman whose first book has been published. His body language is all wrong. If Soubin was given Fazil's charachter, it would have been better.
The twist in the tale when the man so far acting as the house owner switches to role of a thief who came to the house to steal and the man who claims to be guest is the real owner comes a surprise. Now you expect the plot to be a thriller.
The slide happens here. The cigar smoking night gown ( fits perfectly) wearing Faahad switch to theif falls flat. From here inwards, each evidence that Faahad brings to prove his identity can be easily seen through. Only the GF ( High Court Layer) fails to see through it. Finally when Faahad says it was me all along, the feeling is - Great deal.
Joemon the cameraman is also the producer, has framed shots very aesthetically and as the GF asks Why so many candles ? Nothing works like a candlelight for a spooky effect. BGM is effective.
Darshana does her part well as the confused lawyer
