  Sivakarthikeyan refusal to grow a long beard for the last 12 day shoot of Madharasi and next with Karthik Subburaj,  Lokesh LC Benz in Pondicherry. • The screenplay and dialogue work of Kaithi 2 has begun, shoot will begin from December 2025. Last stages of Coolie post production work also happening simultaneously.
• Vijay is set to shoot for his final schedule as an actor during the first week of May for Jana Nayagan. The TN rights of the film have been bought for 90 crores by Romeo. Vijay will be playing an IPL officer turned politician in this film.
• The final schedule of Suriya45 is completed (Climax Block which was shot in Prasad Studios), as Suriya moves on to Retro promotions.
• Thug Life will be having a grand release in the Hindi Multiplexes, and will only be available on OTT platforms 8 weeks post release. Kamal Haasan has been confirmed to be a major screenwriter in the film. STR and Trisha romantic melody song from May 7th. The trailer and audio launch is locked for May 16th.
• Sivakarthikeyan’s Madharaasi is experiencing difficulties regarding the final schedule of the film. A 12 days call sheet is needed from SK with his long beard look, but he isn’t willing to grow it out right now due to Parashakthi shoot. Solutions regarding this issue are currently being solved. Expect an update regarding the first single soon.
• Shooting of Dhanush’s Idli Kadai has been wrapped up with the whole cast. The movie is set for release on October 1.
• Kaantha, starring Dulquer Salmaan is in the final stages of post production. An OTT deal with Netflix has been struck. The film will likely be releasing in July 2025, an announcement can be expected soon.
• Fahadh Faasil has been roped in for Jailer 2, along with Suraj V (VDS), and Sujith Shankar (Pani). Shooting is happening in Kerala currently.
• Pre-production works for Suriya46 have been happening on full flow. The music sittings have started last. Mamitha has been locked for the film, and Keerthy Suresh is in talks. GV Prakash has been signed as the music director. Shoot from May 15th.
• Pa Ranjith’s next directorial is going to be titled Vettuvam. The film primarily stars Arya, Dinesh, and Sobhita.The shoot has been happening at a brisk pace in Kumbakon. First schedule has already been completed.

• The much delayed Dhruva Nachathiram has been bought by Netflix for 40 crores- all of the issues regarding the film have been solved and the team is looking for any Friday to release the film. Expect updates soon- a press meet can be expected anytime.
• The shooting of the upcoming LCU film BENZ, is gearing up for its first schedule in Pondicherry.
• KH237 is going to be produced by Lyca Producutions is not true. It is RKFI production

• Priyanka Mohan is currently in Korea, shooting for an exclusive film with Netflix with her in the lead role. The director of this film is Nitham Oru Vaanam fame RaKarthik.
• Sivakarthikeyan is in talks for a Karthik Subbaraj film.
• Goutham Vasudev Menon is planning to do a low budget comedy film with Santhanam as the lead. Talks are currently going on.

Thalapathy wishes Seeman - Rajini v/s Dhanush - Japan overseas no premieres

 

Though Lal Salaam is releasing for Pongal, there was a buzz that it would be postponed. So far there is no official announcement from producer of Lal Salaam. The producers of Captain Miller with Dhanush in the lead, has now announced that they are coming for Pongal.. If both films come for Pongal, then it will be Dhanush v/s ex wife Aishwarya and her father Rajinikanth. Aishwarya directs the film Lal Salaam and Rajinikanth does cameo. Sivakarthikeyan Ayalan is also coming. It is said that Red Giant who is releasing Lal Salaam was not keen to clash with Dhanush and Sivakarthikeyan.

Karthi Japan releasing on Friday in Tamil Nadu is not having premieres in overseas . Today the announcement came that shows scheduled for premiers have been cancelled and money will be refunded. On inquiry, it was said that recent films which had overseas shows abroad and one day ahead of the shows in India got negative reviews and affected the domestic market. So now shows in domestic and abroad will be on same day. Like fo Leo, five shows for weekend have been allowed for Japan. But this time the extra shows can be shown past the weekend and till November 15^th. This permission has been granted to Jigarthanda and Raid too.

Raghava Lawrence and S J Suryah who are in Kochi for Jigarthanda x promotion called on Mammootty who is shooting for Turbo. The film’s Kerala distribution is with Dulquer Salmaan and it has Kerala actor Shine Tom and Nimisha Sajayan in it.

Thalapathy Vijay who is in Thailand for Venkat Prabhu today called up Seeman of Naam Tamilar Katchi and conveyed his greetings as it the birthday of Seeman. In the backdrop of Vijay entering politics, this move signals new alliances as Seeman has so far gone alone in all polls.

 

Priyanka Mohan who acts in Captain Miller and Pawan Kalyan OG was expecting both films to release in last week of December this year but both have moved to next year. Pawan Kalyan is busy with election work. She has a film with Nani and Tamil film with Jeyam Ravi.

Rajinikanth to release Indian 2 intro - Anand Devarakonda next - SRK Dunki Drop

 

Today evening at 5.30, Rajinikanth is releasing Indian 2 intro in Tamil, Mohanlal in Malyalam, Aamir Khan in Hindi, Kich Sudeep in Kannada and SS Rajamouli in Telugu. It has Kamal Haasan and Shankar as director with Anirudh’s music. DOP is Ravivarman.

Don ( Tamil) film review: Entertainment unlimited for all ages

Don is for Sivakarthikeyan , a feather in the cap as he gets into the skin of the role of a college student disgruntled with life and a son who harbors a dislike to his father. In my view, after Balaji Sakthivel's Kalloori , I never enjoyed a campus backdrop film till I saw Don now. As for the father-son sentiment, it reminded me of Cheran's Thavamai Thavamairundhu . Looks like Sivakarthikeyan  aka SK has another hit soon after Doctor.

Though one might dub the campus comedy as mindless, it keeps engaged. The film's strength is director Cibi whose script keeps the narration moving forward without getting stuck in any a rut. One might say that some scenes are `inspirational' from earlier films, overall it is entertaining. Anirudh score is just apt - nothing more or less and so is camerawork ( K Bhaskaran).

Performance wise, SK undoubtedly ,as her is in familiar territory. Second is Samudrakanni. His role has been kept to a correct level without going into a priest on a pulpit range. S J Suryah as the Dean who is a villain also does deliver but sadly at many situations the character turns into a caricature. On the comedy front, director does not bank on one comedian Soori but on a whole range of them, and it has paid off. Priyanka after Doctor, shows that she has the stuff in her to crack the Kollywood heroine circle.

Don will further strengthen SK fan base in the family audience. 

Suriya 's litmus test with Etharkkum Thunindhavan

 

Suriya's Etharkkum Thunindhavan releasing in theaters on March 10th is his first theater release since September 20 2019 , when Kappaan was released. In the period it between , he kept himself in public  by releasing his films on OTT platform. Soorarai Pottru and Jai Bhim are the two releases in last 2  years andmon Amazon Prime. Both the films were big hits on this  platform. 

Theater box office records his last release Kappaan as average which means that it gave a marginal profit. Just before  that in same year NGK was released. It received bad reviews all over and with OTT- TV rights, it could have covered the cost but for theaters it was a loss. In 2018, Suriya  gave a hit with Thaana serandu kootam. Suriya's Andhra - TS market will be also dicey as Prabhas Radhe Shyam is releasing on March 11.

Theater owners still have a grudge against Surya for giving two film to OTT. As ET producer is Sun Pictures, this will not be an issue. Secondly, Ajith's Valimai has not been the gold mine that theatres had hoped it would be. So ET is the next bet.

On the ground, realities are different. Firstly are the fan clubs mechanism operational at releasing stations and on social media ?  After a two year hiatus , are the fan clubs battle ready ?. Second is that unlike Ajith who came after Nerkonda Paarvai in 2019 and received a bumper opening with Valimai, Suriya is no King of Opening. Here again, March 10 is no festival date. The drawing power or the connect that he has kept through OTT releases with his core audience will be put to test. One is that a chunk of those who likes his films on OTT might wait it out to see on small screen and it means that ET will show whether he has his STAR power still intact or lost sheen. ET is said to be one of the big ticket films for Sun Pictures. As they hold the TV - digital- OTT rights, the investment will be recovered. The box office is very crucial for Surya as he comes after more than 2 years to seek theater goers approval, the real backbone of any movie Star The film is releasing in 5 languages
Career wise Suriya's future film outings are promising- a film with director Bala and Vetrimaaran
