Sun TV No to Good Bad Ugly / MAD MAX Stunt Choreographer for Ravanan

 Sun TV has rejected Good Bad Ugly satellite rights as they fear that they will  their fingers post Vidamuyarchi. Both are Ajith starrer. "Vidaamuyarchi," which premiered on Sun TV as a Tamil New Year special, achieved a TRP (Television Rating Point) of 6.86 in U+R (Urban and Rural) markets. This indicates a decent viewership for the movie on its television debut. The movie also garnered 5.5 million impressions. On a normal Sunday this could be fantastic but the Ajith film was a   world television premiere on Sunday, April 14, at 6:30 PM, marking a grand celebration for Tamil New Year. Trade circles say that the TRP does not match up to the money that the spots were sold. Incidentally, Singam 2 of Suriya on a normal Sunday a few weeks later in May first week got a TRP of 8.6.

Now Good Bad Ugly did better at the box office but Sun is finding it difficult to sell the spots at high price to make a profit. A new negotiation is likely.

Once the film releases on OTT, the TV viewership is crashing. One reason is that DTH providers are offering OTT bouquets for a song. Like home video went out after TV started streaming films. OTT is taking the life out of TV satellite rights. OTT’s are now  shirking away from offering a package that includes TV rights. Sun TV has Sun Nxt the OTT app but the latter is not as popular as four major players and in turn cannot offer big prices. Aamir Khan has decided that his upcoming film will stream first on TV and later on OTT.

Rajinikanth flies economy class / Vadivelu' film washout / Ajith GBU on May 8

 In spite of being the megastar of India, Rajinikanth chooses to lead a simple life. Throwing no starry tantrums, the actor’s humble lifestyle and respectful demeanour gave him an unbreakable fandom. Rajinikanth is often referred to as Thalaiva, a name given by the people of the country. Recently, a few got a chance to fly with him in the same aircraft.

Rajinikanth ditched the luxury of private jets for his recent travel. Instead, he was seen boarding an IndiGo flight. Instead of business class, he opted for a regular economy seat. In a video that went viral on the internet, the passengers were left pleasantly surprised. As soon as Rajinikanth boarded the flight with some ground security personnel, people started hooting loudly, cheering, and clapping. The megastar thanked them for the welcome and waved at his fans with a sweet smile.

Good Bad Ugly is likely to premiere on May 8, and in addition to the original Tamil version, other dubbed versions are also expected to stream on the platform. Usually, Kollywood films have a four-week theatrical window, which means that films arrive on OTT four weeks or 28 days after theatrical release. Even the Ajith Kumar starrer reportedly has a four-week window.

Directed by Sundar C, Gangers ,the Kollywood action comedy opened to mixed reviews from critics. Even among the ticket-buying audience, it is faring with mixed word-of-mouth. As a result, there was not much improvement on day 2. Morning shows started with 9% occupancy. There was some growth of up to 13% in the afternoon shows. Evening shows saw an occupancy of 14%, followed by 19% at night.

Reportedly, Gangers is made on a budget of just 16 crores. Against this cost, it has already earned 1.23 crores in 2 days. If calculated, the film has recovered 7.68% of the total budget. Considering the poor trend, it is unlikely to recover its cost and is heading towards the verdict of flop or losing at the Indian box office.

For Sundar C, it will be a big blow as his last directorial venture, Aranmanai 4, was a commercial winner and it earned 100.24 crore gross globally.

Ajith Kumar post GBU Hit in Belgium Race / Empuran end India race as Loser

A week after the release of his Tamil film Good Bad Ugly, actor Ajith Kumar has reached the Circuit De Spa in Belgium. He is gearing up for the GT4 series and will be preparing to intensify his preparations for the upcoming races, that are bound to test the endurance levels of drivers. On Wednesday, the actor’s racing team, Ajith Kumar Racing, took to its X timeline to post a video clip of the actor on the trackside, watching race cars zoom past and wrote, “Ajith Kumar, trackside today at Circuit de Spa, Belgium. Soaking in the atmosphere, gearing up for the endurance challenge ahead.”

The GT4 series is a premier sports car championship featuring GT4-spec vehicles competing across Europe's renowned circuits. The series emphasizes cost-effective racing and serves as a platform for amateur drivers. It includes multiple classes, such as Silver, Pro-Am, and Am, to accommodate varying driver experience levels.

Ajith has a long list of racing events this year. The actor is to participate in the race in Zandvoort circuit, which is to be held between May 16-18. The actor will again be seen in action between June 26 and 29 at the Spa circuit and between July 18 and 20 at the Misano circuit. In August this year, Ajith is to race at the Nurburgring circuit before finally rounding off the season at Barcelona, the race at which is to be held between October 10 and 12.

Overall, L2: Empuraan earned 105.11 crore net at the Indian box office, as per Sacnilk. This collection is a blockbuster sum for a Malayalam film, but considering the film’s exorbitant price tag, it’s not up to the mark. Reportedly, L2: Empuraan was made on a massive budget of 180 crores. Against this cost, 105.11 crores have been collected. So, the biggie has recovered 58.39% of the total cost and still needs to earn 74.89 crores to enter the safe zone. . In India, after the 1st weekend, the film did not see big numbers. Everyone expected it would be the 1st 100 Cr grosser for Kerala, and even they thought it would open the 150 Cr club and many more milestones, but L2 Empuraan did not match the expectations that was created by Empuran team.

 

Why did Ajith film GBU Producer need a Loan ? / Pa Ranjith to do biopic on First Dalit cricketeer

 

Mythri Movie Makers took a Rs 65 crore loan from Zee for release of Sunny Deol Jaat. They are also the makers of  Ajith’s Good Bad and Ugly in Tamil. The news that Sunny Deol had mediated the loan from Zee comes as a shock and they are the producers of Blockbuster Pushpa two franchises. GBU has collected Rs 73 crores so far and Day 1 collection of Rs 28 crores is a record but Day 2 was a shocker with Rs 14 cr and rise to Rs 19 crore on Day 3. Sunday collection is at Rs 9 cr by Sacnik, Monday too is a public holiday.

Pa Ranjith is in talks with author Ramchandra Guha to direct a biopic on Palwankar Baloo , first Player from Dailt  caste to don the Indian jersey for cricket National team.

 Several notable Dalit cricketers have played for India, including Palwankar Baloo, Vinod Kambli, and T. Natarajan. Palwankar Baloo, a left-arm spin bowler, is often cited as the first Dalit cricketer to represent India. Vinod Kambli, known for his talent and partnership with Sachin Tendulkar, also played for the national team. More recently, T. Natarajan has made his mark on the Indian cricket scene. Born in 1876, Baloo was a left-arm spin bowler who faced social ostracism due to his Dalit identity but still achieved international recognition. He is often considered India's first Dalit cricketer, according to The Mooknayak English and Hindustan Times. 

Year back, there was an announcement that Ajay Devgn is acting in a biopic of Baloo. This too was said to be based on Guha’s book. Priti Sinha, daughter of Andaz Apna Apna's producer Vijay Sinha, announced this development on her Twitter. In the tweet, she confirmed, "Ajay Devgn, Tigmanshu Dhulia, and Priti Sinha have teamed up to produce a film based on Ramachandra Guha's book 'A Corner Of A Foreign Field'. The book tells the remarkable story of cricketer Palwankar Baloo and his brothers." The director, cast, and crew for the film are yet to be finalized.

 Coolie has nothing to lose by clashing with WAR 2 on August 15^th. For one, Coolie budget does not make it very necessary for it cash in on North Indian markets like WAR 2. The overseas Tamil market and to agreat extent Telugu markets will still plump for Coolie as everybody wants to see what magic has Lokesh created for Thalaivar as he did for Kamal and Vijay. Thirdly the film WAR 2 will not create any much hoopla that a Hindi film has in South and NTR Jr is no Bunny – Prabhas who has a Pan South preence. So WAR2 with Hrithik Roshan who is not around for a long time, is the loser as NTR Jr tag will help only in two Telugu States. Good Bad Ugly Kerala Distribution is with Gokulam Gopalan and his house- offices across all States have been raided and so will he be able to distribute it or hand it over to some body ? The latst reports say that Vidaamuyarchi release date is locked and said to have informed their distributors that they are getting ready to release the film on 30th January. Sources say that discussions with the production team of Hollywood film, Breakdown, and a solution is expected to arrive very soon .January end release has no holidays but the producers have only that release option as Ajith’s Good Bad and Ugly (GBF) release date has been announced. Suriya's RETRO had planned for April 10th but GBD coming on that date has made them eye May 1st as Coolie is likely to be postponed.

Coolie starring Rajinikanth and with Aamir Khan in a cameo is looking at August 14th as release date. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film has all the potential to get North Indian audience but it looks like that Hrithik Roshan – NTR Jr’s WAR is coming on that date. This means that Coolie is at risk of losing the North audience and also that it will lose both Telugu speaking States as WAR has NTR Jr. NTR post RRR which was a big hit in North is a familiar face in North. Overseas too the biggest pull is from Hindi and Telugu audience and WAR has the advantage.

Atlee next a rehash of Magadheera - Will DSP removal give Game Changer a breather ?

  Director Atlee next Hindi project is rehash of the Telugu film Maghadheera starring Ram Charan and directed by SS Rajamouli. This fantasy film released in 2009 was the South Indian dilm to have longest run in theatres and the dubbed versions in Tamil and Malayalam gave RC the market in these languages. A blockbuster hit , it had Chiranjeevi in a cameo. The writing team of Vijayendra that collaborated in the original is rehashing to suit Hindi audience. Kajol plays the role of a princess in an era dating 450 years ago and the modern day student. The story written by Vijayendra for Krishna was rejected and years later his son Rajamouli changed the screenplay and added a Rajamatha to the story of a bodyguard's show of loyalty and courage.

Atlee who has successfully rehashed many popular Tamil films and delivered hits is now camping in Chennai's Hyatt hotel with writers and re- writing the film. Sun Pictures, Atlee and Salman Khan are co- producers. Kamal Haasan is tipped to be part of the cast.

Game Changer team is waiting to see if Ajit's Good Bad Ugly will shift the release date as it has brought in G V Prakash as BGM scorer and DSP has been moved out. However we learn that GVP was brought in to stick to release date.

Adhik always wanted Yuvan for GBA . But Yuvan like  DSP  gives delayed bgm. Se he requested for GV Prakash  and it it was producers who insisted Devi Sri Prasad thinking it will help them in Telugu states.

DSP was not  giving songs  for Adhik  and under  a pressure DSP gave songs for GBA .

Good Bad & Ugly Pongal deadline

GBA had this pongal releases deadline and Adhik started getting very nervous. Eventually DSP told makers he can't give BGM for Pongal deadline.

So choice was with Producers whether to delay production to summer release with DSP music or go with another music directors.

GV Prakash was requested to work on same luckily GV Prakash Kumar has got enough time  and he was bought in immediately.

GV Prakash is already working with Mythrifor their  Robinhood movie. So everything worked out.

DSP and Pushpa 2 song fiasco explained

DSP  even  in November did not give final duet song . He gave one finally in November 15th . They need to shoot that song on Allu Arjun and Rashmika.  It was done recently on Nov 19 to Nov 22 with little of patch work  and completes the entire shooting on Nov 25.

DSP always insist on complete raw edit of talkie with vfx to do bgm something which many Directors cannot oblige.  Director Sukumar keeps improvising till last date and DSP know that but from this year he stuck to his new rule, he started this year. Music Directors  like Anirudh and MM Keeravani do not insist but  Manisharma , Ilayaraja and ARR used to insist on locked edit back in 90s and 2000s . 

DSP  was asked to work on episode wise  which he kept declining. Then producers by then just got impatienent  and requested SS Thaman, Ajaneesh and Sam CS to work on those episodes individually.

DSP was supposed to give NOCs to producer to reprise his bgm works and songs instrumentals of Pushpa in BGM for pushpa 2 second half. That got delayed  but finally he gives it.

Prithviraj in Rajamouli - Mahesh film - Good Bad Ugly v/s Game Changer for Sankranthi

 Whether it is Good News or not, Ram Charan Game Changer Sankranthi release date will see opposition from Ajith- Adhik Ravichandran film Good Bad and Ugly. This challenge is limited to Tamil Nadu for Shankar. After Indian 2 debacle, Shankar name has been badly tarnished and with Game Changer, he has to get it back. Adhik Ravichandran has a success streak but not as big as Shankar. In Tamil Nadu, Ajith has a bigger name than Ram Charan and is King of opening and so if Good Bad Ugly gets the audience in and it has the stuff that AK fans are looking for, Shankar will suffer a beating and that too in his home State and at hands of a relative junior Director. This in turn will affect his Indian 3 but as it has Kamal Haasan in it, it could be dented. 

From what we hear, Ajith film is not likely to back out from Pongal race. Ironically there is another reason and that is the politics between Ajith film Producer Mythiri and Game Changer's Dil Raju. Both have a tussle over the Nizam area.

We reported about Prithviraj replacing Ayushman Khuranna in the Meghana Gulzar film and now we hear that from January 2025, he is joining S S Rajamouli for Mahesh Babu film. After Salaar, this is yet another big Pan Indian film that he will be seen in. Apart rom this his directorial Empuran with Mohanlal os getting ready for post production. Apart from this he had Vilayat Buddha.

PeepingMoon.com has exclusively learned that Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Karna, starring Tamil superstar Suriya in the titular role, has been put on the backburner for the time being. The Rang De Basanti and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag director has temporarily stopped working on this two-part epic as he struggles to secure the budget of 600 crores required to mount this film. Temporarily, because Mehra still intends to make this film, having spent years researching and developing the screenplay to tell the legendary tale of Karna with historical accuracy and grandeur. 

Buzz in the trade circle also indicates that Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment is also reevaluating their plans to produce the film. The production cost has spiraled out of control, making it financially unfeasible for them. The producers have urged Mehra to significantly reduce the budget or they won’t be able to make it. Sources say Mehra has also started looking for new producers, but another hurdle he is facing lies in the casting of Suriya as Karna. The Tamil superstar has just delivered a massive flop with Kanguva, raising concerns among potential investors. The producers may now hesitate to back a project of this scale with Suriya in lead, especially what is a North India favorable mythology—the Mahabharata happened in Kurukshetra, which is in Delhi.
