Ayodhi Tamil film story written by Sahitya Akademi winner S Ramakrishnan is plagarized is the charge. Sahitya Akademi winner S Ramakrishnan defended himself against allegations of plagiarism by claiming that real-life incidents can inspire anyone to write a story for a film. The incident in question involved two Pandya Gramin bank employees, Suresh Babu and Muthuumar, who helped a North Indian family return home from Madurai with a dead body. Mathavaraj had written about this incident in a blog, and Ramakrishnan admitted to using a news clip as the basis for his adaptation of the story in the Tamil film Ayodhi, directed by Mandramoorthy and starring Sasikumar. However, Mathavaraj was upset that the film did not credit the two individuals who helped the family and instead presented it as pure fiction. To resolve the dispute, Mathavaraj met with the film's producer Ravindran and director, and a compromise was reached whereby the names of the two individuals would be included in the OTT version of the film.

Real incident

On August 31st, 2011, Mathavaraj, an employee of Pandyan Grama Bank and a trade unionist in Madurai, received a distress call from Arvind Sinha, a member of the All India Regional Rural Bank Employees Association in Bihar. Sinha informed Mathavaraj that Vinod Srivatsava from Lucknow, an employee of Central Bihar Gramin Bank, had been in a car accident with his wife and three children in Rameshwaram. Unfortunately, Srivatsava's wife passed away at the scene, leaving the family stranded at Madurai airport and in desperate need of assistance to return to their state.

Despite being away at a meeting in Trichy, Mathavaraj promptly requested his colleagues Suresh Babu and Samuel Jothikumar to attend to the family's needs. The two colleagues provided the family with food and helped obtain the necessary documents to air-lift the body through Indian Airlines.

Mathavaraj, who is also a writer, wrote a blog post on September 3rd, 2011, titled "Azhakooda Thiraaniyatravargalaai Avargal" (Those who could not even shed tears) about the incident. He also later wrote about it in the Unity magazine for bank workers.

After the release of a film, Suresh Babu brought the story to Mathavaraj's attention, who was shocked that the film had credited the story to a popular Tamil litterateur, S Ramakrishnan.
