Four South filmy poll encounters raise friendship - family ties

Four filmy encounters in Lok Sabha polls down South and the lessons that we share. First Producer Aswini Dutt had challenged that Kalki 2898 would be released after Andhra Polls and that at that time the State CM would be Chandrababu Naidu . For a producer who has invested Rs 500 crores, this was a big risk. As AP CM Jagan can hold back increase in ticket rates for first week and not allow any fan shows and thereby the film would suffer losses. Even poll predictions had given YSR Jagan the upper hand. Now Kalki 2898 AD biz is crossing RRR business and the trailor release on June 10 is a moment of triumph for a Producer who put his crores at risk for his belief in his friend – Chandrababu Naidu. Incidentally, the function will see Big B of Modi camp and Kamal Haasan of INDIA Bloc on stage. Lets move to Kerala – Suresh Gopi is first BJP MP to win through ballot box in Kerala. His daughter marriage saw Modi and Kerala actors Mammootty and Lal in attendance. Now after poll result, comes the news that Mammooty Kompany has signed Gopi. Directed by Mahesh Narayanan it has Faahadh Faasil and Kunchacko Boban in it. Now lets look at the producer’s background – Mammooty is the Chairman of CPM’s Kairali !!! The third is in Tamil Nadu Virudhunagar. We the old timers are witness to the days and nights that Vijayakanth and Sarathkumar spend to rebuild Nadigar Sangam and their friendship. Apart from this Sarath’s wife Radhika and Vijayakanth were co- stars and had a very good vibes. Time passed by and Vijayakanth quit Nadigar Sangham politics to take to politics. He floated DMDK and became an MLA and Opposition Party leader and quite recently passed away. Sarathkumar had floated his own party and aligned with Dravidian parties for polls and became MLA and MP. Now he merged his party with BJP and fielded his wife Radhika against AIADMK – DMDK candidate Prabhakaran. Now Prabhakaran is son of Late Vijayakanth. At that time many felt that Radhika could have avoided this poll against the son of an actor – friend. After the result figures it looks even more bitter. The winner from INC beat Vijayakanth son by a mere 4000 votes and the best part is that Prabhakaran is contesting for first time and his victory was most crucial for future survival of the party his father founded. Radhika came third with 166271 and one feels that if it was not for Radhika – Sarathkumar Star Power , VijayaPrabhakaran could have easily garnered more votes. Ideally, the star couple should have campaigned for VijayaPrabhakaran , going by the past days . The poll helped us give a picture of the financial status of Star Couple and saw videos of hubby doing shayanapradiskhnam (rolling on temple ground) for wife’s victory. Very heartwarming !!! In a fourth instance of family and friendship soaring above politics was Allu Arjun visiting friend who is YSRCP candidate and not making a similar gesture to his Uncle – Actor Pawan Kalyan who is opposing YSRCP in the poll. After the Uncle’s victory, nephew send a congratulatory message and got badly trolled. Question raised was is friendship more important than family by Pawan fans ?.

The super hero loses his fingers and he has a metal claw fitted and with this he fights the evil forces. Suriya accompanied by his 2D EO Rajashekar flew to Kochi and met Late Sidique family. Siddique had directed Suriya in Friends. Swargachitra Appachan remade this Malayalam film with the same title in Tamil and it was the debut film of Siddique. Latest promo confirms that STR is the host that will step in to the shoes of Kamal Haasan in Bigg Boss Ultimate Tamil. Literally as it goes, STR ties the shoe lace and wears the blazer to turn to the camera and say Did not expect it ? Me Too Lets us meet.

From the list of shortlisted celebrity list that Disney Hotstar has put up, STR aka Simbhu might sign on the dotted line and

STR is said to have a very close relationship with Star Vijay, the arm of Star Network that works in tandem with Disney Hotstar.  However, Dhanush who is said to have a cold war with STR is among the actors who has bagged the most number of Star Vijay awards ( 7 awards). The position of host held by Kamal Haasan being inherited by STR and the participation money ( Rs 50 lakhs for a single appearance  was given to Kamal) could be a factor for STR to take it up says sources. For the channel, STR who is riding the wave of popularity after Maanaadu success  would be able to bring in the youth and the fan base to the show. STR is away shooting for last leg of Gautham Menon directed film.

Sarathkumar had come in Bigg Boss 5 as a guest for a episode and interacted with the contestants. He left a brief case of Rs 15 lakh as a bait for a contestant to take it and quit the contest. He might be called in to do the main host . In the last poll, his party was aligned with Kamal's political outfit and both drew a blank.

Aravind  Swamy name is mentioned as he had hosted a show Season 3 of Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kodi ( Tamil KBC) on same channel . In fact before Kamal Haasan became host it was Swamy whose name was said in TV circles as the host.

Prakash Raj who has also hosted  KBC  Tamil show  and Kamal along with his live in partner Gauthami had taken part and the episode sent TRP soaring. Ramya Krishnan had  stood in for Kamal in previous BB season after the actor was taken sick due to COVID infection. She had judged the BB Jodi show on Vijay and had a spat with Vanitha Vijayakumar ( one of house mates of that season and now a contestant in Ultimate ). Promos will start soon.
