Coolie makers have got nod to screen the non IMAX version in IMAX screen   in Chennai -two screens offered in Phoenix and Nexus Malls IMAX in chennai are digital IMAX not true IMAX. Coimbatore IMAX too is on the list. Apart from this Coolie will not screen in any IMAX screens across India and that includes Prasad Multiplexes IMAX.  Kuberaa has Tamil Actor Dhanush and directed by Sekar Kammula of Tollywood and though a biliangual, film is basically a Telugu film. Sitara Zamee {ar has Aamor Khan ina Hindi film directed Tamil Director R S Prasanna.According to the figures on the BookMyShow website, Sitaare Zameen Par has a BMS Interest score of 41.4K. On the other hand, Kuberaa boasts a much higher score of 172.1K – about four times Sitaare Zameen Par’s score (at the time of writing). So, based on BookMyShow Interests, it looks like the movie-going audience is currently more interested in watching Kuberaa.

Kubera trailor Reditt comment ; In the first 4 seconds, whatever Dhanush is saying is perfectly matched with the video which confirms that the movie was shot in Tamil. But then after that in the same scene when he starts to say "neenga sonna kaasu policeu" it's the telugu video but the audio remains in Tamil

So far, Mollywood has seen only three 200 crore grossers, and entering the 300 crore club is going to be an Everest task. While the task is very difficult, Drishyam 3 looks like a perfect fit. The biggest reason is that the franchise is highly popular, and there’s goodwill from the first installments. There’s already a strong buzz on the ground level.

Considering the buzz, Drishyam 3 is the potential blockbuster. While it will likely break records in Malayalam, the film also has hype among the Hindi audience. So, if the makers decide to release it in Hindi, the film might see a significant boost in business.

Ajay 'Drishyam 3' can only begin filming in October, as he must first complete his commitments for 'Dhamaal 4' and 'Ranger'. Kumar Mangat Pathak, who has produced the Hindi remakes of the franchise, is reportedly in discussions with the original makers to explore the possibility of a simultaneous release for both the Malayalam and Hindi versions. The theatrical release of Bhool Chuk Maaf starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, has been cancelled after heightened security drills across India. The announcement, which was made by its makers a day ahead of the release, followed India’s Operation Sindoor targeting terror camps in Pakistan. The film will now premiere on OTT. Makers said that they had taken this decision keeping in mind nation’s priorities in mind.

The All India Cine Workers Association(AICWA) has issued a firm statement enforcing a complete ban on Pakistani artists, filmmakers, and financiers working in the Indian cinema industry. This statement came immediately after Pakistani actors Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, and Mawra Hocane, who have worked in Bollywood, criticized the Indian Army’s Operation Sindoor.

AICWA strongly condemns the filmmakers, producers, and artists of the film Abir Gulal for casting Pakistani actor Fawad Khan despite the Pulwama attack, where several Indian soldiers were martyred. What message do such filmmakers want to convey? They even came to India to release this film, showing complete disregard for the nation’s sentiments. This is a disgrace to the sacrifices made by our brave soldiers.

The depiction of the Godhra incident from a secular viewpoint or in other words the victims were Muslims given shelter by a Hindu and the attackers were Hindus in L 2 Empuran seems to have caught the imagination of overseas Indian diaspora. The Film has set a benchmark for Malayalam filmdom in terms of overseas collections. This is the first film for Mollywood to cross $10Million and also 100 crore at the Overseas box office. This record also looks unbeatable and may remain untouched for long years.  The scripting of Murali Gopy combined with Prithviraj’s Direction and the ` shock marketing’ later yielded dividends overseas but not within India.

The film’s box office run was limited to Kerala and not outside. The final Indian tally shows that it has not collected enough to cover the investment from the ticket sales. On OTT too L 2 Empuran is not a great attraction. The controversial elements were later dited out by Director after a backlash on social media.

  Surprise element in the A R Rahman The Wonderment Tour show in Mumbai was the unannounced entry of Dhanush who sang on stage the number from Asuran and it was a big hit , even though the 50000 plus audience had not heard it. He and A R Rahman then sang ‘Adangaatha Asuran’ from Raayan. It was the only non-Hindi track sung by the artists at the concert and it got a fine response. Sivakarthikeyan who entered the elite 4 club of Kollywood has revealed that his Bollywood debut will be with Aamir Khan and his banner. Rajinikanth to join Aamir in Jaipur - Allu Arjun first to get BIG without Rajamouli

Previously all the movies from Tollywood that went on to be massive in the Hindi belt were from Rajamouli. Kalki too owes some of the credit to Rajamouli because Prabhas’ pan-India status came only after Baahubali. But Allu Arjun is going to become the first actor from the Telugu industry to make it so big in Hindi. It will not be surprising if the movie breaks the records of Baahubali 2 and stays on top of the list as long as the former did. Yash did this with KGF too and without the help of Rajamouli, but this is happening for the first time in Telugu now.

Suriya 45 is based on a script created for a film called Maasaani Amman. This project is said to be very similar to the director’s previous film, Mookuthi Amman, which starred Nayanthara. However, it is reported that changes have been made to the script to focus on a male lead, Suriya. Suriya will be seen playing a God in this film, and the character is said to have been written based on a deity called Karuppasamy. Moreover, he appears as a god to help the protagonist solve something important in the film.

Trisha and Suriya are reuniting with Suriya after 20 years Suriya 45. According to reports, Trisha is playing the female lead in Suriya 45, and the latest video from the sets confirms the news. After being featured in films like Aaru and Ayutha Ezhuthu, Trisha and Suriya were spotted wearing lawyers’ suits in the video, which might be their characters in the movie.

She joined the team in Pollachi. Filming has already begun in locations like Pollachi and its surroundings.

Suriya kickstarted his Kanguva promotion at a college in Delhi. He is keen to make a big splash in North belt and Producer Gananvel has opened an office in Mumbai. Now Suriya confirms that Ghajini 2 is confirmed and that ARM who directs it has also tied up with Aamir for the Hindi sequel. Suriya has not ruled out the possibility of him coming in a cameo with Aamir and vice versa. Kanguva audio release is in Chennai on October 26^th- Nehru Stadium.

It seems that Jailor 2 launch could be the venue where Dhanush and his wife Aishwarya Rajinikanth could turn up in public to show that they are back as hubby and wife. It will also signal Dhanush playing a role in the Jailor 2 with Pa in Law Rajinikanth. Dhanush was spotted watching Vettaiyan with kids on opening day. Is this the reason why the divorce case of the Dhanush- Aishwarya being postponed several times ?

 

Rajinikanth - Aamir Khan to shoot on October 15th for COOLIE

Now it seems Aamir Khan is joining him for the Chennai schedule . It was a rumour in August and it came after Lokesh met Aamir in Mumbai. But now Mumbai portals and Peepingtom reports this. Aamir and Rajini acted thirty years back in a film Aatank hi Aatank and it bombed. In the film ‘Aatank Hi Aatank’, Aamir played Michael Corleone in Bollywood’s version of ‘The Godfather’. He said - “After the release of this film, I was shocked. I felt like I shouldn’t have done the film. No sooner did I watch the film did I realize that I have really done a very bad job. I chose some not-so-good roles at the beginning of my career.”, In fact AGS Boss Archana posted a pix with Aamir last year. It led to a speculation that Aamir was approached for the Thalapathy movie GOAT or Thani Oruvan 2 ( to reprise role played by Aravind Swami).

 

IT'S CONFIRMED. Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and Tamil cinema legend Rajinikanth are set to reunite on screen, nearly three decades after their forgettable collaboration on The Godfather-inspired crime thriller, Aatank Hi Aatank (1995). Aamir will play a special cameo role in the Tamil superstar’s action thriller, Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. 

The specifics of Aamir’s role have been strictly kept under wraps, but it's believed to be a unique character Lokesh has thoughtfully crafted just for him. The director has designed a brief but powerful sequence with Aamir and Rajinikanth in the same frame, promising a memorable, mass-appealing moment for audiences while simultaneously elevating the film’s narrative. Aamir has given his dates and is supposed to shoot for this highly-thrilling cameo during the film's next schedule, beginning on October 15 in Chennai. 

Coolie, which marks Rajinikanth’s 171st film in the leading role, boasts a stellar ensemble cast that includes Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Sathyaraj and Mahendran. Aamir’s addition further doubles the excitement surrounding this film, while also adding fuel to the months-long rumours about his full-length feature collaboration with Lokesh Kanagaraj. Although it remains unclear if their speculated discussion was only about this cameo or if they would actually be working together on a feature movie soon, the possibility of Aamir Khan and Lokesh Kanagaraj working together has left moviegoers excited.

Aamir Khan has already committed for cameo roles in two films, and this Rajinikanth movie will mark his third one in the last six months. The other two films featuring him in cameo appearances will be Sunny Deol’s Lahore 1947 and Vir Das’ Happy Patel. FFI bets on Aamir Khan to get Oscars for Lapaataa Ladies

 Film Federation of India or North India ? . After selection of Laapataa Ladies as India’s official entry for Oscars , the goings on in the jury deliberation shows that the name Kiran Rao and Aamir Khan as producers just did the expected. If you read the shitty citation that FFI jury Chairperson put out ( even jury is misspelt) , you spot from where the mistake that started. “ “Indian women are a strange mixture of submission and dominance. It shows that women can happily desire to be home makers as well as rebel”. Now Ravi Kottarakara President of FFI and represents South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce gives his view on why the film was chosen – The goonghat or the veil that the woman wears and because of this the problem starts according to Ravi is something that is peculiar to Indian woman. He also admits that two bigger films Vaazhai and Thangalaan that came to finals were `too big’ to handle.

So the jury found in LL  the Indianness and the story  is  of a man married to a child bride and her being lost . Coming to the plot, Anant Mahadevan way back in May 2024 said that  that the mix-up and the ghunghatwala (face covered with veil) photo in Laapataa Ladies are straight out of his 1999 film Ghoonghat Ke Pat Khol. The endings differ. In Ghoonghat Ke Pat Khol, the two women correct the mix-up but realise they have feelings for the other’s partner. The four characters end their marriages, switch partners and tie the knot again.

The point that Jury deliberated was not about whether Payal Kapadia film that won Grand Prix in Cannes was not Indian enough or that Ullozhukku'. , Thangalaan ,Vaazha and Aatam were fit to be India’s entry.  Critic Rangan hit the nail - Submitting a film for the Oscars is not just about the film being good but also whether the producers have the funds / desire / know-how / contacts to mount the hugely expensive Oscar campaign.

Look at all the so called films from South and background of the Production companies. Suriya did an exception as the film Jai Bhim was produced by him and he put it up as a private entry. Now take Payal Kapadia’s film. It needed a Rana to get a theatre in Kochi and then fulfil the Oscar criteria. Beyond that what can Rana do ? The five production companies that are behind Kapadia film seem to have given up on it, at least when  it comes to Oscars. Business wise they have got real solid distributors across the globe. Rana is part of the RRR team and all that is fine but is he a  Aamir Khan ?

Track record of Aamir Khan who is co producer of the film. Earth, Lagaan, rang De Basanti, Tare Zameen Par, Peepli Live were all Iscar entry. Out of this Laagan made it to top 5 in Foreign Film Category. Khan hired a Hollywood promotion agency and took a serious shot at it.

Last year, RRR Producers with SSR- NTR jr- Ram Charan team that had the bucks to do Oscar campaign were overlooked for an arthouse film. It did not make it to final and we know what RRR got. In 2022 , Surya was prepared to spend on Jai Bhim if selected for Oscars but instead Koozhangal an arthouse film was selected. In 2023, we send Malayalam film 2018 and that too sank without a trace. Koozhangal was bought by Nayanthara’s banner and she and hubby did some ground work in USA. Even this year Payal Kapadia film that had Rana Daggubatti from D Rama Naidu family backing and a person who is part of S S Rajamouli team from Baahubali to RRR  , lost out to Aamir Khan.

 

Going by track record – jury decided to correct the mistake . It is why  a North Indian Production House and that too with a Bollywood Star backing  and experienced in handling Oscar ,comes with a film , it will just find it Indian enough for official entry. Oscars. If it is a South  banner with Tollywood  Stars , it will find Indianness in an art house film that too from Gujarat.. Three Cheers to Film Federation of India ( North). Nayanthara flood relief or Brand promo ? Look at Kollywood and Chennai floods

 

Nayanthara's flood relief to Chennai residents has got her negative publicity as the video of her fan club doing this work in Suburban Velacheri looked like a promotional aid for her brand Femi9 that manufactures sanitary napkins and sells the, The van with  both sides painted with Nayanthara and her Femi9 distributed food packets and drinking water. All this was done with the Femi9 advt in the background. After that a group of ladies posed with Femi9 sanitary napkins for the video that was loaded on X. Her fans went delirious and praised Lady Superstar for being so kind and generous. It was seen as a yet another reason for her being worthy of Lady Superstar title. Probably the fact that Tamil cinema Only Superstar or his fans have yet to respond to the flood crisis. This time however many felt that the video lacked a jingle to complete the advt film of the actress brand.

Thalapathy Vijay after a three day slumber woke up and asked his fans to rush aid to flood victims. It was left to likes of Vishal and company to wade through muddy waters. Most viewership was for a video that showed sex bomb Namitha rescued from her Thoraipakkam house by NDRF. Next was Ajith calling on stranded Aamir and Vishnu Vishal. Last time in 2015, AIADMK workers intercepted lorries coming from other States with relief materials and pasted AMMA stickers on the goods.  Using Central Govt funds, AMMA distributed Rs 5000 to each ration card holder in Chennai, irrespective of the damage suffered. Tamil Nadu CM says that such a rain never poured in past 44 years and compared to 2015, the fatalities are less. Though the main parts of Chennai city has limped back to normalcy, the suburban areas where there is no sewage system or any sort of town planning and included as part of Greater Chennai to boost real estate promoters is caught in a situation that there is no way to dry out the stagnant water.

Most of the film crowd ae in this place as the prices are low and get swanky apartments at a throwaway price and so are the rents. The middle class who took to the lucrative offers from promoters are realizing that interior of the house is not enough but civic facilities too count. It is now time for Kollywood to meet CM and donate and show their solidarity with `mass'. In fact it was TV actors like KPY Bala who distributed Rs 1000 to each house he visited 200 homes while Darshan with his friends were on the spot giving out relief goods. Suriya, Karthi and Harish Kalyan have announced their donations to flood relief.

Thug Life decoded and Kamal B'Day - Did Latha Rajinikanth like LeoDisaster post ?

Is Kamal – Mani combo film Thug Life a sequel to classic Nayakan ? Is this  film inspired by Rise of Skywalkers or is it Sisu ? The poster has a poetry written on it and can be read with a help of mirror as the poster contains mirror image. Looking at the images in the video Kamal attire suggests that he is an Yakuza the term used in Japanese for a gangster. So is it happening in Japan as he is fighting gangsters who are using Japanese weapons used in martial combat.

In the video he is called Rangaraja Shakivel Nayakkar. Shaktivel was the name of the grandson of Velu Naicker in Nayakan. Kamal character in Thevar Magan was also Shaktivel. Rangaraja was name in Dasavatharam.

Blue Sattai Maran film critic has posted shots from Rise of Skywalker and Thug life video to show similarity. Yet another contention is that it has similarities to Hollywood intense action film Sisu in which Jorma Tomilla  plays an action hero.

After official announcement yesterday, Dulquer tweeted it was a life time opportunity to work with two great masters. Dulquer had acted in Mani’s Ok Kanmani. Trisha had worked with Kamal in two films earlier and she back after Ps 1 and 2.  Aamir Khan who is in the city for treatment of his mother turned up for the birthday party of Kamal and he along with Suriya posed for a photo shot by Ravi K Chandran who captioned with two Ghajinis. Parthipan too took photo with Aamir. Pradeep Antony who was evicted by a Red card shown by Kamal in BB7 Tamil posted a congratulatory message to the Star and it has gone viral.

Jailer v/s Leo collections continues on X. A hate post tagged LeoDisaster was liked by Latha Rajinikanth and it went viral. Rajini’s PRO Riaz clarified that the like was not from her official X account.

 

No buyers for Ponniyin Selvan 2 - Aamir Khan remakes Darshana film- RRR team bought Oscar tickets

The latest buzz in the industry is that Aamir Khan has secured the rights to produce the Hindi remake of the Malayalam movie Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, with Fatima Sana Shaikh, known for her role in Dangal, set to portray the titular character, originally played by Darshana in Malayalam. Vipin Das, who directed the original film, will be directing the remake. While there is no information yet on the other cast and crew members, the Malayalam film was made on a budget of Rs. 6 crores and earned Rs. 40 crores at the box office. It is currently available on Disney Hotstar.

Mani Ratnam's second installment of Ponniyin Selvan has yet to find a distributor for Andhra and Telangana States. Despite the success of the first part, Dil Raju, who acquired the rights for these regions, has shown no interest in the sequel. Although the movie had a promising first weekend in Telugu states, its earnings sharply declined on Monday and never recovered, even during the festival day. The film was purchased for Rs 10 crore and needed to earn over Rs 12 crore to break even, but it only managed to close its first week with Rs 8.25 crore (Rs 15 crore gross). In Tamil Nadu it is the highest grossing film so far. April 28th is the release date. Tamil Nadu distribution has been acquired by red Giant Movies.

Upon the release of Ponniyan Selvan I, while film enthusiasts acknowledged Mani Rathnam's hard work, they expressed that the plot was heavily intertwined with Tamil history, making it difficult for non-Tamil audiences to connect with it. This is likely the reason why Ponniyan Selvan 2 is struggling to find buyers in other languages, despite featuring popular stars such as Aishwarya Rai, Vikram, Trisha, Karthi , and others.

 According to recent updates from the Economics Times, only MM Keeravani and Chandra Bose received tickets to attend the Oscars 2023 event at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, as they were nominees. However, the remaining members of the RRR team, including director SS Rajamouli, lead actors Ram Charan and Jr NTR, and their families, bought tickets to witness the historic moment live.

Reports suggest that director SS Rajamouli bought tickets in advance for himself, the RRR team, and their families to attend the event. It is noteworthy that a single ticket for the Oscars event costs $25,000 USD, which is approximately Rs. 20.6 Lakhs. This new information has surprised Indian movie enthusiasts.

The netizens' discontent towards the Academy Awards organizers has heightened as they assigned the RRR team to the back row of the hall, as seen in the viral videos. Director SS Rajamouli and his team were captured sitting in the last row while MM Keeravani and Chandra Bose were seated ahead with other nominees.
