    Superstar Rajinikanth is currently busy with the shoot of Jailer 2 in Goa. Jailer was a mammoth blockbuster at the ticket windows collecting over Rs. 600 crores. At a time when Rajini was going through a slump, Nelson brought the star back into the numbers game.

    The latest buzz suggests that Santhanam is set to make re-entry as a comedian with Jailer 2. For a long time Santhanam has been doing lead roles, and it appears that he is coming back to entertain audiences in a comic avatar with the much-anticipated sequel. An official announcement is awaited.

    The makers are planning to bring the film to the theatres on June 12 2026. Bollywood actress Vidya Balan is said to be playing a key role. Produced by Kalanithi Maran of Sun Pictures, the big-ticket entertainer features music by Anirudh Ravichander.

    Tamannaah portions are missing in  Bahubali The Epic is the buzz.

    Baahubali: The Epic is releasing with premieres today in U.S. and tomorrow paid premieres in India. The response so far has been overwhelmingly positive. Shows are selling out as if Rajamouli’s brand-new film were hitting theaters. Needless to say, the entire team must be thrilled-except for one person, Tamannaah Bhatia who played a key role in the first part. According to reports and official team statements, Tamannaah’s portions have been removed from this version to keep the film tighter and more focused, including her songs. When Baahubali: The Beginning was first released, many viewers criticized Tamannaah’s character and songs, feeling they didn’t quite blend with the epic tone of the film. In fact, many felt she was miscast in Baahubali. Those sequences are now said to have been cut from Baahubali: The Epic. While the rest of the team celebrates the film’s grand re-release, it’s certainly disappointing news for Tamannaah. In the U.S., Baahubali: The Epic is on track to easily gross over a million dollars. This film is set to create a new benchmark for re-releases – it’s unlikely that any future re-release, regardless of the hero, will be able to collect even half of what Baahubali: The Epic is earning now, at least for several years to come.
    
    Professionally, Tamannaah is busier than ever. She will next be seen alongside Shahid Kapoor in Vishal Bhardwaj’s action thriller O’ Romeo, expected to release in late 2025 or early 2026. She also stars with Sidharth Malhotra in Vvan – Force of the Forest, a mythological folk thriller produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and TVF. The film marks her return to a strong, unconventional character space. Additionally, she is part of Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe, where she plays the wife of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria. Santhanam- Nagarjuna in Jailer 2 / Dhanush Dad to sue Ajith Producer/ Ragini as Bad - Bold Girl

 

Latest buzz is that Santhanam has been approached to join Jaier 2. Balayya joining Rajini is not yet confirmed. Mohanlal and Shivarajkumar are confirmed. Telugu cinema icon Nagarjuna has been signed on to play the main antagonist in the film, reported Deccan Herald. Santhanam, a popular Tamil comedian, has a history of collaborating with superstar Rajinikanth in various films. They have previously worked together in "Enthiran" and "Lingaa". There are also ongoing discussions about Santhanam's potential role in "Jailer 2," the sequel to the Rajinikanth-starrer Jailer. 

His intense performance as Simon in Lokesh Kanagaraj's upcoming film Coolie has reportedly influenced this casting decision. The first Jailer had TK Vinayakan as the villain. Now, with Nagarjuna in the mix, fans are expecting an epic showdown.

The film's ensemble also includes SJ Suryah, who joins the cast, and Mirnaa Menon, who will reprise her role from the first part.

Shiva Rajkumar will return as Narasimha and has reportedly dedicated 15 days to shoot his portions.

Two major schedules have already been wrapped up in Chennai and Kerala.

Director Kasthuri Raja has come out strongly against the use of the folk song 'Oththa Roova' from his 1996 film Nattupura Pattu in the recent Ajith Kumar-Adhik Ravichandran film Good Bad Ugly without proper authorisation from him, its lyricist. During the promotions for his next film in Salem, the filmmaker discussed the rising trend of the reuse of old songs with no due authorisation.

Kasthuri Raja also revealed that his songs 'Panju Mittai', 'Otha Ruba Tharen' and 'Thoothuvalai Ilai Arachi' are used in the Ajith starrer with no permission. The filmmaker rebuked the use of old songs, calling it a case of being not creative or original. Describing the works of Ilaiyaraaja and Deva as "timeless music," he said that modern-day filmmakers appear to depend too much on nostalgia instead of their own creativity. He said that if filmmakers want to use such songs, they should seek permission from their original creators as a fundamental legal and ethical requirement. Reiterating the importance of respecting original music, Kasthuri Raja added that he would sue the makers of Good Bad Ugly. Earlier, Ilaiyaraaja's legal team sent notice to Good Bad Ugly makers.

Ragini Dwivedi’s most daring avatar in Kannada cinema is set to be showcased in the upcoming film, Jawa, which brings together Rajavardan and Ragini on screen. It also marks Rajavardan's debut production venture under his Barn Swallow Company banner. Directed by Devaa Chakravarthy, Jawa will be made in Kannada, Telugu, and Tamil, and is expected to blend mass appeal with intense storytelling

When asked if R Queen pays tribute to the present Kannada heroines like Ramya, Rakshita, Radhika Pandit, Rachita Ram, and even Ragini herself—Devaa nods. “This character is fictional, but she's born from the spirit of many. We’ve observed the industry, its highs, its shadows, and R Queen reflects that. She’s influenced by legends, but she’s her own woman. No one’s seen Ragini like this before.”

Devaa reveals that Ragini’s character will carry full-fledged grey shades. “Yes, she’s a superstar in the film. But more than that—she’s the antagonist - and I call her 'A lady villain'. It’s a face-off with the hero, Rajavardan, but done differently. I’m not going by the old formula. Jawa is about breaking patterns.”

 

 

Rima Kalingal Theatre poster at Cannes / Vijay Sethupathi Box Office Flop / Soori, Aishwarya Lekshmi film Hit, DD flop

 The trailer for the Rima Kallingal-starrer Theatre: The Myth of Reality, written and directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Sajin Baabu (biryani), was officially launched at the Cannes Film Festival 2025 – Marché du Film. The event took place in the presence of veteran Bollywood filmmaker Sudhir Mishra, who launched the trailer, and Indo-German Film Week Festival director Stephan Ottenbruch, who attended as chief guest. The launch saw the attendance of Malayalam filmmaker Dr Biju Damodaran, actors Prakash Bare and Chhaya Kadam, and several film professionals from India, Germany, China, and France.

Theatre centres on two women who believe their suffering stems from a curse. Set on Illikkal Island in Kerala, the film explores how myth and reality intersect within a secluded community. Rima and Sarasa Balussery play the lead roles, supported by an ensemble cast. Rima received the Kerala Film Critics Award for Best Actress for her performance. Speaking at the event, Sajin said, “It’s honestly a bit surreal to be here at the Cannes Film Festival. Just being part of this space where world cinema is celebrated with such love is an honour in itself.”

The Santhanam starrer Tamil horror-comedy Devil’s Double Next Level aka DD is slowly inching towards 20 crores albeit in a snail’s pace. The movie is also yet to recover its entire budget. Here is taking a look at the box office performance of the film on its 10th day. On its 10th day, the Santhanam starrer earned 65 lakhs. This was a drop of around 32% since the movie amassed 97 lakhs on its previous day. The total India net collection of the film now comes to 16.25 crore. Including the taxes, the gross collection of the film stands at 19.17 crore. DD Next Level is mounted at a budget of 20 crores. With its current India net collection of 16.25 crore, the film has managed to cover 81% of its budget. It will be interesting to see whether the film will cover its entire budget in the coming days.

Maaman is mounted on a budget of 10 crore at the box office and against the collection of 18.55 crore in 8 days, it has churned out a profit of 85.5% at the box office. The action film stands as the sixth most profitable Tamil film of 2025.

The Vijay Sethupathi starrer Tamil romantic-crime flick, Ace has been witnessing dismal performance at the box office. While it has managed to cross 4 crores within its 3 days, this is hardly an impressive score, given Sethupathi’s star power. Here is taking a look at the box office performance of the film on its 3rd day. On its third day, the movie saw a dip of around 12% and earned 1.42 crore. The total India net collection of Ace now stands at 4.04 crore. The film is now inching towards 5 crore but needs a more positive word of mouth to see a boost in the collection.
