Ajith Visamuyurchi picks up after Day 2 lull / Alanceir calls Big B and Rajini Bad actors

Ajith’s Vidaamiuyarchi is facing a tough situation at the box office on the second day itself. Ajith and Magizh Thirumeni’s action thriller was released in theaters this Thursday and emerged as the career biggest opener for Ajith with around 50 Cr gross. Even getting 20 Cr gross itself looks very tough on day 2, which is definitely a bad sign for the film’s box office. The movie must see a big jump in the two days to get a good total at the box office. on 2nd day the film saw a big drop in numbers and collected around 20 Cr gross worldwide. The positive sign for the film is after the drop in the morning, matinees and other later shows had a good jump, and today, the film is trending better than yesterday. Vidaamuyarchi 2 Days Box Office Collections are out now, and to achieve the breakeven, Ajith’s film should collect around 225 Cr gross, and the recovery is just around 30%. The film needs to have a huge jump over the weekend.

Alencier Ley Lopez is two time Kerala State Award winner and twice Filmfare Award winner. A film Narayaneente Moonnaanmakkal has released and he acts alongside Joju George and Suraj Venjaramood. Pariyerum Perumal remake has Tripti Dimri ( Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 ) / Rajinikant pongal wave

After Baby John the remake of Vijay film Theri and it’s flop, now comes another remake. It is Dhadak 2 which is a remake of Pariyerum Perumal written and directed by Mari Selvaraj in his directorial debut and produced by Pa. Ranjith. n an interview with Filmfare, Triptii ( bhool Bhulaiyaa 3) who acts in the film spoke about her experience working on Dhadak 2. She mentioned that it’s been a “lovely” and “special” film, and she enjoyed the process of making it. She also described her co-star, Siddhant, as “an amazing guy” and noted that working with director Shazia Iqbal had been enjoyable. Dhadak 2 is presented by Zee Studios, Dharma Productions, and Cloud 9 Pictures. It was initially set to release on November 22, 2024, but the date has since been postponed.

Director Atlee has not given up on being a Bollywood Producer , even after Baby John. He is said to have signed Shahid Kapoor for a film that will be directed by his assistant and this time it is no remake. The film is to start next year. Triptii is also working on Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming film with Shahid Kapoor. The untitled movie, which also stars Nana Patekar and Randeep Hooda, began shooting on January 6, 2025. Fans of the original Tamil film, including producer Pa Ranjith, have expressed concerns that the core conflict of the story might be diluted to make it more palatable for Hindi audiences. Karn Johar the producer saud - "We are not holding back from the core conflict of the film or its depiction. I don't want to say too much for those who haven't seen the original, but we have stayed true to the story. It’s as hard-hitting and impactful as the original," he promised. Karan also highlighted that selecting Shazia Iqbal to direct Dhadak 2 signals his commitment to maintaining the essence of Pariyerum Perumal. Shazia Iqbal has been working as a Production Designer for thirteen years in the Indian Film & Advertising Industry. An Architecture graduate, she left a sheltered office job after being enticed by the idea of telling stories. Sun Tv will premiered the Rajinikanth film Vettaiyan on January 14th 6.30 PM. It will also telecast Lal Salaam the next day but it is not confirmed. Next day Lal Salaam of Thalaivar might come but not confirmed. Hindi version of Lal Salaam was telecast on Zee Hindi. OTT release has not come. Kavin's Bloody Beggar is coming on Sun - Jan 15 , 11 AM.

Rajinikanth and Venkat Prabhu next ? OTT wary of Critics favorites

 

Is Rajinikanth and Venkat Prabhu to collaborate for a film produced by Lyca Productions ?. The buzz is that Vettaiyan was to wipe out the losses that Lyca suffered from early ventures with the Actor, but it has only managed to recover the costs and nothing more. One version is that Rajinikanth has offered to do a film for Lyca and the choice is Venkat Prabhu as the Producers feel that GOAT success can be repeated with Thalaivar. So far according to exhibitors in the South, Kalki and Devara from Tollywood saved them and from Kollywood it was GOAT that gave Rs 250 crore collection within the State.

Vettaiyan gross ! week is Rs 85 crores in Tamil Nadu. Total gross within India including other languages is Rs 122.15 crore. The overseas collection is around Rs 73 crores claims production. The total budget is Rs 250 crores and with other digital rights, the company will just about scrape through. Till Diwali, there is no great big film and so a few crores will be added

OTT Platforms have learnt that theatre reactions and critics reviews are far away from the audience that they cater . Two films Kootukali and Vaazhai the two Tamil films that are streaming on OTT is a case point. These two films had garner good reviews and Theatre revenues for Kootukali was very poor and got Rs 1 crore in the weekend. Vaazhai on the other hand got good theatre response and got Rs 15 crore gross and the film was made at Rs 12 crore and from Disney Hotstar it got back the total investment.

From the viewers the response was so bad that the OTT platforms are having second thoughts on buying such films. The viewers unanimously termed these films as over rated by critics and too slow and boring.

Take case of Lubber Pandhu. Theatre collection is Rs 35 crore for a Rs 5 crore film and OTT has gone for a Rs 15 crore. Will this also be slammed by OTT viewers ?. The price fixed for such non commercial films that do reasonably well at theatres is now to take a second look as OTT has realised that their audience ( majority) is not driven by critics and that after the initial niche audience, these films have no viewers

Thug Life : Release Date only after Post Production ; Vettaiyan BEATS G O A T !

 Thug Life teaser for Kamal Haasan fans on November 7th is sure but release date is not sure. After getting feedback from many technical teams, it has been decided that there should be no hurry in completing the post production work and only after perfection should a date be fixed. In recent times, many big films to keep to release date , had hurried VFX and CG work and got brickbats. Even in Vettaiyan, there was technical flaws and some were evident in the fight sequences. Kannada film Martin released Friday suffered as the post production work was bad. So the talk about the Thug Life releasing for January 2025 is not sure. It could be in April too says our trackers.

Meanwhile Mythiri Movie Makers the Producer of Good Bad and Ugly and Pushpa 2 has got a Bollywood Production company as partner and that is Bhushan Kumar's T series. All undergoing and upcoming projects are to be jointly produced by these two companies.

Dhruv Sarja's Martin produced at Rs 100 crores has crashed badly and shocked Kannada filmdom. The Producers have send legal notices to those YouTubers who gave bad reviews by citing copyright violation for using movie stills and posters that were put out by the production company. YouTube on getting this notices have put these sites under suspension. This technique was used in Kerala to counter negative criticism against a Mammootty film. The technique might spread to Tamil and Blue Sattai and others need to be careful in using publicity material from the Production company.

The title Vettaiyan beats GOAT will look like we are hardcore Rajini fans. However it is true. Where ?. In neighboring Kerala and two Telugu States. Yes. GOAT life time run in Kerala was Rs 13.5 crores. It gave the distributor a loss of Rs 20 crores. Vettaiyan in four days collected Rs 14 crores. In Andhra and TS, Vettaiyan first day was Rs 5.70 crores and GOAT was Rs 4.17 crore. Four days it collected Rs 13 crores. GOAT life time run in two Telugu States was Rs 13 crores.

Kanguva Producer takes a swipe at Vettaiyan 's Producer : More updates

 In what looks like a swipe at Sun Pictures, K E Gananavel of Studio Green and  Producer of Suriya's Kanguva, in a reply to a query on a  Q&A session on X said that by just naming the big names on the official handle does not guarantee a grand opening for the film. The question was why the Producer is not coming out with the big actors who are in the cast as many names are bandied about in social handles. This dig was obviously aimed at Vattaiyan which released on October10th.

Vettaiyan had collected Rs 26 crores om opening day in Tamil Nadu and this is no great shakes for a Rajinikanth film. It had Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh faasil and Rana Daggubatti in the cast. Rajini's  previous film Jailer which had big names like Mohanlal and Shivaraj Kumar too opened at a similar numbers.  Gananvel was in an indirect manner implying that despite having Stars from other language industries, the film opening was not dependent on it. In short, the opening banked on the hero's box office pulling capacity. In Kanguva , it meas Suriya. This is the second dig on a Rajinikanth film from the Suriya camp. Earlier G. Dhananjayan from same camp compared the GOAT opening collection to Petta lifetime collections. Meanwhile Studio Green has opened a Mumbai office and Kalaipuli Thanu visited it.

Businesswise, Kanguva has tied up with Pen Movies for North India, Abi and Abi Pictures for Tamil Nadu, PharsFilmco LLC for overseas, Sree Gokulam movies for Kerala, UV creations and Mythiri ( Nizam). updates:

Makers of Vettaiyan have replaced the dubbing of Prakash Raj for Amitabh Bachchan with AI enhanced sound. This is the first time that an actor’s dubbing is done using AI. Earlier in this film Anirudh used AI for Malayasia Vasudevan voice in the song Manasilaayo. The song features the powerful vocals of Legendary singer Malaysia Vasudevan with the usage of AI technology along with Yugendren Vadudevan and Deepthi Suresh whose voices bring the lyrics, penned by Super Subu and Vishnu Edavan, to life. Before too music composers had used AI and Director have used the images of Late Actors. Meanwhile the film has got U/A certificate.

Many online sites had said that peculiar voice of Prakash Raj was easily recognizable by the audience and Nizhalagal Ravi who had earlier dubbed for Big B Tamil advertisement was more suitable.  He dubbed for Bachchan in the Tamil versions of Kaun Banega Crorepati and Thugs of Hindostan.  An X post - Prevue seems like more to the content of the film. Kamal Haasan after completing his MNM meeting drove straight to another venue ( Kalaivanar Arangam) where he shot for an extensive video which will be featured on Star Vijay as part of Amaran promotion.

Yet another news is that Jeyam Ravi who spoke to reporters at Mumbai Airport and told that he has shifted base to this Metro , a month back is now in talks with some leading Bollywood Directors and soon an announcement is on the way. GOAT Producers anger Ajith fans - Surya's Kanguva executive Producer compares GOAT with Petta

AGS Entertainment Producers of Vijay’s GOAT has tied up in knots after the posting and reposting of tweets favoring the film. Ajith fans are livid over the Production company retweet of a positive review of GOAT but it did not see that the post had a caption that was abusive of Ajith. As soon as Ajith fans started to bombard the X handle, it was pulled down.

As M S Dhoni fans are said to be flocking Chennai theatres, AGS re-posted a tweet of CSK with photo of Dhoni with the Vijay’s dialogue Whose fan are you ? This further angered Ajith fans as the dialogue in the film is from Vijay to his daughter held captive was about their idol. He provides a clue to his daughter to use the method used by her idol Ajith in film Vedhalam to free her from the captor. The scene makes it obvious that the reference is to Ajith as the Mankatha score is played. Ajith after his appeal is not called Thala by his fans while Dhoni is called Thala by his fans. AGS had to recall this too.

Is Surya camp to be more precise Studio Green Gananvel Raaja angry with Thalaivar ? Producer G. Dhananjayan who is executive Producer of Kanguva reacting to GOAT’s first day collections said that this figure is more than the entire collection of Rajinikanth’s Petta. This comment coming in the backdrop of Surya announcing that he is shifting Kanguva release date as respect to Rajinikanth since Vettaiyan is releasing on same date has led to a trade talk that the shifting was not one that was of choice but compulsion. G. Dhananjayan who elaborated on Kanguva new release date said that as multiplexes in North India were keen to screen the film , efforts were on to get a date where there was no Hollywood film as competition !!!. It is a fact that GOAT did not beat Vijay’s previous film Leo’s first day collection. Before we go back to Petta released in 2019, let us compare Jailor with GOAT. GOAT collected in India an amount of Rs 43 crore while. Jailor ( Aug 2023) collected Rs 72 crores. This is day one collections. Back to Petta. On day one it was pitted against Ajith’s Viswasam. This means that unlike GOAT which had a free run in all screens , Petta had only 400-450 screens in Tamil Nadu. Dhananjayan who is also a box office tracker out of the blue pulling Petta figures to compare with GOAT seemed a deliberate attempt to put down Thalaivar. He knows that the floods in two Andhra States has put the GOAT collections back . It is also known fact that overseas collections figures vary as it depends on the price of US Dollar.

Documentary on S S Rajamouli angers Telugu viewers - Rajini confirms Vettaiyan delay

Trailor of NETFLIX documentary on S S Rajamouli has angered Telugu audience as the Stars NTR Jr, Ram Charan, Prabhas, Rana Daggubatti among others have their voices in Telugu dubbed and the English conversation in the original voice. Ram Charan said in the trailer, “Sometimes I am shocked. I see myself as a third person when I see his films.” As well as Jr NTR says, “This person is born to make films, and he’s born to tell stories that have never been told.
