Kamal and Thalapathy Vijay set for Rs 1000 cr club- Thug Life reshoot in Delhi

It seems that Mani Ratnam has decided to add few scenes between STR ( Simbu) and Trisha in Thug Life and so a fresh round of shoot in New Delhi is scheduled. Thalapathy Vijay will start work on 69 project from November 4^th. Viduthalai 2 directed by Vetri Maaran and with Vijay- Sethupathi- Manju Warrier – Soori is set for a December 20 release. Now it seems that a few portions are to be reshot and that features VSP.

Kamal and Rituparno Ghosh would work together in a Bengali film. This is not the first. Kamal reveals that he played a ventriloquist role in a Bengali film Kobita and it has Mala Sinha as the lead. It was remade in Hindi as Jeevan Dhara with Amol Palekar in that role. Kamal reveals that apart from Bengali dialogues, he also had a Bengali song sung by Kishore Kumar.

As we report this, we hear that Irrfran Khan’s son Babil’s next after Quala is to have Krithi Shetty as the heroine. It was seeing ARM the Malayalam film starring Tovino Thomas, that she was decided as the heroine. For Tamil audience she came in Custody that was directed by Venkat Prabhu with Naga Chaitanya as hero.

Thalapathy Vijay pointed out that at his career peak, he was shifting to politics. It is not only his career high but also a Kollywood high, as per trade reports. Now only one high remains to be achieved and that too with Thalapathy 69.

Industry is divided into Pre Covid and Post Covid period. In the Post Covid, SEK, Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, and Amitabh Bachchan from Bollywood reached the a cumulative Rs 1000 crore mark. The first from South is NTR Jr after Devara release.

So far in Kollywood, the first actor to reach this mark will be Kamal Hassan after Thug Life release. Next in line is Thalapathy Vijay. With just Rs 90.90 crores, he will touch the Rs 1000 crore mark and this will be achieved with H Vinoth film. In fact, with G O A T , it was to be got but fell short. Here is the figures :

• Beast – 131 crore
• Varisu – 178.80 crore
• Leo – 342 crore
• The Greatest Of All Time – 257.24 crore

Total – 909.04 crore

Kamal needs only Rs 21 crores to reach Rs 1000 crore. If Indian 2 had worked, he should have got into the club.

Vikram – 255.09 crores

Kalki 2898 AD – 642.45 crores

Indian 2 – 81 crores

Total – 978.54 crores

Kalki too slowed down and made Kamal miss the mark.

Is attack on Sai Pallavi also on Kamal Hassan's Amaran ?

Sai Pallavi is anti – Indian ! Sai Pallavi is a Naxal ! Remove her from film Ramayana , - this is the refrain that is now orchestrated by Mumbai based PR agency just a few days ago before release of Amaran the Tamil film. Sai plays wife of Martyred Major Vardarajan in the film. From what we hear is that the campaign is twin pronged. One against Sai Pallavi as she bagged the Sita role in Hindi film Ramayana . Secondly , against Kamal Haasan who is the Producer of Amaran. An old interview video see link ; https://x.com/Sai_PallaviFans/status/1850038684990476376?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1850038684990476376%7Ctwgr%5E5e63375ff232345852342040334dd9ced6118dac%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.indiatvnews.com%2Fentertainment%2Fnews%2Fwhat-did-sai-pallavi-say-about-indian-army-netizens-got-angry-after-watching-her-interview-2024-10-26-959013. She says in a question on Naxalism posed by a Telugu journalist , she says that she is confused about the Naxal use of violence to get justice as she is against any violence and said that from the viewpoint of them, it could be justified. To show that perspectives changed when looking at things from one’s point of view , she said that Pakistan Army to us is terrorist and it could be the same view of them about our Indian army.

Kamal Haasan has always been a scare to Bollywood and the caucus that controls it. They have feared his talents and lost no chance to deride him. Amaran is jointly produced by Kamal and Sony . If the film clicks in a big way , Kamal’s RKFI will be a force to reckon in Bollywood. Apart from this, Kamal who kept away from Bollywood is back in a new avatar. Through Kalki he made his appearance and the film was a hit in Bollywood. Second part is mainly the clash between Prabhas and Kamal. To top it, Atlee is in process of tying up Salman Khan and Kamal in one film. Yet another biggest scare for Bollywood is that two films- Indian 3 and Thug Life. Director Shankar and Mani Ratnam. Bollywood worry is not without basis. Shankar gave Robo 2.0 in Hindi and that is an all time record breaker. Bollywood has not forgotten Mani who gave Roja that swept the nation. Both these Directors are coming with Kamal.

Though they cannot directly target Kamal for the Sai Pallavi’s old interview, they have unleashed a whisper campaign about Sai Pallavi in real life being a Radical and anti national. All this is to show that she is not fit to be in a film about a national war hero.

Sai Pallavi got an open adulation from Mani saying that he is her fan !!!. Sai unlike other actresses has been choosy about her roles and is no hurry to get into the numbers game. Those in Bollywood who are insecure are out make all efforts to make her insecure and tarnish her image in North India.

Rajini missed Drishyam role - Kamal to opt out of BB7 Tamil ?

Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph combo that gave Drishyam is readying its next release Neru, an investigative thriller. Jethu says that in first thirty minutes itself the suspense is over and what follows is what lead to it. This means the screenplay is such that it does not give any clue as to how this took place and unfolds inside the Court. In an interview, Jeethu said that Drishyam Tamil was first planned with Rajinikanth. Rajinikanth declined it and after a friend told him that the subject had a box office potential, he called back . By this time, Kamal Haasan had signed the project. It was Pappanasam with Gauthami in Tamil. The film is releasing on December 21. Reports indicate that Neru is bought by Disney Hotstar. Jeethu – Mohanlal combo film Ram with Trisha has completed the first part and is to complete the second part and release in 2024. This third release for Mohanal after Camo in Jailer and Alone. Lal has acted with Priyamani in Grandmaster released in 2012 and is coming back after a big gap.

Tamil TV buzz is that Kamal Haasan will not host the coming episodes of Bigg Boss 7 as he is all set to embark on his mission to contest the MP seat in the coming polls. It is not clear whether he will not host remaining five weekends of the current season or it applies to the next season. Kalki 2028 which was come for next year has postponed as the sequel portions with Kamal who plays Kali and Big B who plays Ashwatama have not shot anything. As soon as the film gets ready for release, makers realized that there is no content with these two actors for use in promotional puropose. Kamal will finish his portions for Kalki and move towards his political career as by March he has to hit the road. H Vinoth project is postponed and only Sivakarthikeyan and Pradep Ranganathan film will move forward. Thug Life of Mani will be post Lok Sabha polls. Kamal in last weekend agreed that BB had no entertainment content as most of the time, two groups sat in different corners and discussed ways to out beat rival groups. They came together for tasks and went their ways. For those watching HotStar live, it was a big bore and night capusule on Vijay was even more boring. BB Telugu finale is on December 17th. For the first time 6 contestants enter finale week instead of five and mid week in Wednesday, one will be eliminated. Nagarjuna is the host

Kamal film goes for Rs 130 cr and Keerthy in it - Jude - Lyca multi starrer and Malavika Nair in news

Rahul Bose has joined the cast of SK 21, a film produced by Kamal Haasan and directed by Rajkumar Periasamy. Previously, Rahul had acted in the movie Viswaroopam and its sequels. He is currently reporting for the Kashmir schedule, where Sivakarthikeyan portrays a military officer and Rahul plays the role of a spy. Sai Pallavi has also joined the cast, and the film features music composed by GVP. Shortly after RKFI officially announced Kamal and H Vinoth's project, there were rumors that Keerthy Suresh might be cast in the film. Vinoth's film delves into the world of farming and explores how modern cultivation and marketing methods can enhance a farmer's income. The story is set against the backdrop of the Punjab farmers' strike, which revolves around government policies and the monopoly market. Additionally, there is news that Kamal's film has been acquired by Netflix for a whopping Rs 130 crores even before its official announcement. If this turns out to be true, it would be the highest-ever deal after Vijay's Leo. Meanwhile, Vettayadu Vilayadu, which was released 17 years ago, hit the screens again last week and enjoyed a packed audience for all weekend shows. GVM, the director of the film, shared a tweet about this achievement, and a fan asked Lokesh, who joined GVM in praising the film, who among them is the bigger Kamal fan. Lokesh replied that undoubtedly it is GVM, but GVM responded by saying that it was true before the release of Vikram, and now Lokesh surpasses him in being a Kamal fan.

She will be starring opposite Golden Star Ganesh in a film directed by Srinivasa Raju, known for his work on the film "Dandupaiya." Darshana Rajendran, a popular Malayali actress, is set to make her Telugu debut. She gained fame through her roles in the blockbuster hits "Hridyam" and "Jaya Jaya Jaya He." Currently, she is working on a film directed by Praveen, known for his successful movie "Cinema Bandi." Anupama Parameswaran, another talented actress from Kerala and a well-known face in Tollywood, will be joining her in this project. Mohanlal bigger draw than Salman- Kamal - Nag : Disney Chief

Walt Disney India President K Madhavan said -" In the history of Bigg Boss conducted in many languages, Malayalam is only one with double digit TRP and that is because of Mohanlal ". He went to elaborate on how the actor handles the contestants etc as the host. Now BB Hindi is in 15 th year, and Tamil - Telegu in its Season 5 and is hosted by Salman Khan- Kamal Hassan- Nagarjuna in that order. So it means that these three actors as compared to Mohanlal as TV host , is very poor and not able to muster the numbers. Apart from this Asianet is not ranked in the top 10 GEC of BARC and despite that the BB show getting TRP to beat Hindi coming on Colors Tv and Salman has been host for past 12 seasons, Telegu BB comes on Star  Maa ( rated top 5 among South channels by BARC) with three out of five hosted by Nagarjuna and Tamil BB in Star Vijay which is second after Sun and in BARC list has Kamal Haasan doing the honours with Simbu stepping in a few episodes of Ultimate.

Now lets get into details spelled out by Mohanlal about the voting figures given to him by the producers.- Banijay and platform Disney Hotstar on OTT - Asianet satellite. On finale voting touched 21 crores ( for all contestants). 39% of the votes was got by winner Dilsha Prasannan.

BB Malayalam was streamed live this time on Disney Hotstar and a 90 minute capsule on Asianet. Madhavan is also President of Star India which also owns Asianet. An ad agency friend gave us a sample of a week TRP of Asianet with BB 4 show included. It is the figures before Dr Robin got evicted .We reproduce it:

As in earlier seasons, double digit figures touched only on weekend when Mohanlal came on screen. This double digit figure was below the TRP of other soap serials on Asianet. This was the case with all languages .BB never maintained double digit through out the week. Yet another change in sponsorship is that Rs 50 lakh cheque was given by channel and not keys to a flat by Confident Group. as the tag line sangathi colour aakkum ( things will be colourful), Hopefully not red. Dilsha Prasannan who won the just concluded BB Malayalam 4 is first woman winner of the show,

Vikram Hindi dubbed film viewing experience

Experience of seeing Vikram Hindi dubbed in a city theater of Mumbai was told me . A nutshell of the viewer's observation : The first thing one gets to see is is that the audience of families with kids have come. It is obvious that the audience have not seen the teaser or have any clue about the film which is no stuff for kids.  As the film starts and moves forward , except for Kamal Hassan intro, Faahad Fazil and Vijay Setupathi get no whistles. Audience have no clue about Faahad or VJS. Biggest surprise is that  only a few recognised Suriya in the climax and that too as ' I have seen him in Tamil films '.  For  Hindi audience, Vikram is a Kamal Hassan film and not a multi- starrer one.

Now lets hear about the dubbing quality. Nothing bad or jarring. Here the biggest spoil sport is the censors. They have muted out so many portions in dialogues that got claps and whistles in Tamil. What is good for Tamil is poison for Hindi wallahs. Words like Rebel - terrorist are muted. Height of censorship was Suriya iconic dialogue on  life time settlement has been butchered ( muted).

Lokesh had said that if one sees Kaithi before Vikram, many things will fall in place. In Hindi, the character of Arjun das brother Adaikalam is Amruthraj   in Hindi and VJS is Santhnam which is Chandan ( sandalwood) in Hindi probably for same meaning. Like in Master Hindi version, here too a few different shots like a paper which has Chandan written on it have been shown and it is a good effort. Anbu becomes Billa, Dilli becomes Shiva and Adaikalam is Ranga in Kaithi Hindi dubbed by Goldmines.

Wonder why Periyathambi and his village cooking YouTube channel  is retained in Hindi. For Tamil audience, it strike a chord and the way the recipe is presented is a big hit. To imitate it in Hindi is just foolish endeavour and serves no purpose.

Otherwise as far as musical score is concerned, there is no change. Hindi film does have the goose bump moments and not that it is a total waste. Advise is go through Wiki about Kaithi film role names as some are retained as in original. If you cannot get a Tamil print nearby, Hindi will not totally disappoint you is the parting summary by my Mumbai Ka Dost.

Atlee- Shah Rukh Khan film a Darkman adaptation ? Similar to Vikram story line ?

Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) released the trailor of  Nayanthara -Atlee directed film and confirmed the title Jawan which we reported on September 1, 2021 (https://southfilmy.blogspot.com/2021/09/srk-atlee-nayanthara-titled-jaawan-arya.html). At that point of time, media reported that film was titled Lion and produced a copy of the letter given by production company for Pune shoot in railway premises in which it was mentioned as Lion. We had in a later report said that SRK plays a Indian military officer and hence the title Jawan. We at Southfilmy.blogspot.com once gain proved right.

The latest teaser of the film shows SRK in a look that is same as of  Liam Neeson in Darkman , a Hollywood film released in 1990. Coincidentally, Jawan story line has similarity with just released Kamal Hassan film Vikram  In Darkman , Liam plays a scientist who was burnt alive and left as he was dead . He survives and to cover his burns, he bandages himself and with super hero powers , he starts a revenge battle.

In Jawan, SRK plays a RAW officer whose look is the bandaged one and he has a twin look of a normal guy who is a playboy son of a rich gangster. Like in Vikram, SRK the father who is taken to be dead comes to avenge  the death of his son. In Vikram, Kamal too is officially dead as he had faked his death. He comes to track the killers of his son ( Kalidas)
