Ajith's Valimai release date on AMMA B'Day - Vijay Makkal Iyyakam says back DMK

 Ajith's Valimai is releasing on Feb 24th and AIADMK cadres are already celebrating it as they see it as a message from the actor to his fans that he is an AMMA supporter. Reason being that the release date is AMMA Birthday. As also on Feb 19th, urban bodies go to polls. The  Tamil Nadu South regional head based in Thoothukudi ( Tuticorin )  of Vijay Makkal Iyyakam (VMI) told  reporters that they have decided to back DMK in places where they have not put up candidates. He claimed that it was decided at emergency meeting of State leaders.

AIADMK candidates flex boards have sprung up showing Ajith with folded hands asking for votes. According to the talk circulated by party cadres, Ajith was asked to select three dates for release. Ajith ticked Feb 24th as it was AMMA's birthday, goes the folklore.

From the trade viewpoint, theaters had promised to block three weeks to give Valimai a grand release. The film had been in the cans waiting for theater release and shunned the OTT release. Exactly one month after comes RRR in theaters. Two days back, Pondy CM NR turned up at Vijay's Pannaiyur house in ECR and had a `courtesy call' that lasted 1 hour. We have reported the reason for this  courtesy'. Now the South District secretary spilling inner details of deciding  to support DMK by VMI has added to arsenal of the party.

Ajith officially disbanded all fan clubs. Vijay has not openly  come out in support of VMI but has kept silent on use of his name - photo in campaigns. VMI staked claim for autorickshaw symbol as it would please Rajni fans as their idol's Baasha film , a evergreen hit had him as an auto driver. Elecn Commission said no to VMI.

Udhayanidhi Stalin to release Radhe Shyam and clash with Valimai

Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant has acquired the Tamil Nadu distribution of Tamil dubbed version of Radhe Shyam starring Prabhas. It is slated for an All India release on January 14th. Hindi release is with T Series. On January 13th, Ajith starrer Valimai is releasing all over India , according to producer Boney Kapoor's tweet. Andhra/ TS and Hindi releases were added after RRR backed out from January 7th date. Only Nagarjuna film is set for Pongal release and Radhe Shyam was seen as tottering since the trade felt that it too might pull out last minute if Andhra brings in a night curfew and 50 % occupancy. Studio Green was first on board to distribute Radhe Shyam in TN but backed out after Chennai - Coimbatore, two major box office areas see Covid spike.

Red Giant has told theaters that they expect night curfews and 50 % occupancy restriction in coming week after Jan 10th. However they would go ahead with the screening as it was okay with Radhe Shyam producers and distributor RD Illuminations. Radhe Shyam has taken the stance that even if 50 % occupancy comes in Andhra, they are okay. Telangana has made it clear that there would be no restrictions for Sankranti festival. In Hindi belt too, Producers have asked T series to go ahead and release in compliance with Covid restrictions in North India regions. As long as movie halls are open, release Radhe Shyam in places where possible is the stance. OTT platforms on other hand are offering huge amounts for a premiere or for even an advanced 2 week window from release date.

Valimai TN distribution has been acquired by Madurai Anbu exhibitor- distributor and said to be close to political powers and he too is not keen to skip the release date and go with Covid restrictions as he is confident of making a kill at box office. Boney Kapoor and Zee who did no pre- publicity for Hindi release has sprung a surprise by releasing posters for Telugu and Hindi and a trailor for both language..  Vijay Deverakonda and Naga Chaitanya launched the Telugu poster of Valimai, Hindi posters are released by film's producers children, Arjun and Janhvi Kapoor. All four actors shared the posters on their respective social media handles. The telugu poster features Kartikeya Gummakonda, who is playing villain and marking debut in Tamil along with Ajith.   The Hindi trailor is brief one and features only Ajith's scenes while other two languages have more length and Huma Qureshi - Kartikeya are seen.

Ajith's Valimai to enter Rs 200 cr club on opening day

The producer has applied for a special permission shows from midnight onwards on the morning of release date. 

Theater owners associations have ioin hands in getting Boney Kapoor the special shows. As Madurai Anbu who himself is a exhibitor, the support from single screens owners who are in the majority too is got. Trade sources say that 745 theaters in Tamil Nadu are clients of Qube  digital service provider and all of them would be allotting the maximum screens. 

A poster announcing the release date is to come out. Ajith's lucky day is Thursday  and so January 13 could be the date.  The idea is to start the fan shows by 11.55 PM of Jan 12th and not come on a 13th.

As build up to release , two single tracks have come out. The track with lyrics by Vignesh Shivn ( beau of Nayanthara ) has taken internet by storm.  Within 24 hrs it garnered 2.8 million views. Shivan dedicated the song to his mother as it was about an ode to a mother. Music is by Yuvan. Sung by Sid Sriram.

Heroine is Huma Qureshi and Telugu actor Karthikeya plays the baddie. Directed by H Vinoth, the film deals about illegal bike racing and International subvert activities.
