However, on day 3 the film sees a heavy drop in numbers with 3 Cr gross, taking total gross to 18.5 Cr. Today advance bookings are poor, suggesting the number will be lower than day 3. At this trend the film cannot post any decent numbers from tomorrow, and it is likely to close under 25 Cr gross. Which means Rajinikanth’s Coolie will end up with a heavy loss in Kerala. More than 30% loss is expected for buyers, and this is the first time that a Lokesh Kanagaraj film is facing a loss venture in Kerala. Even Leo, with mixed WOM, succeeds in achieving breakeven and profits in Kerala.

The Telugu States theatrical rights of the War sequel were bought by Naga Vamsi for 82 Cr excluding GST; with GST, the film needs to collect a 95 Cr share for break-even. Rajinikanth revealed many personal secrets to Lokesh

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is currently promoting Coolie, his upcoming film with Rajinikanth, recently revealed that the veteran actor is in the process of writing his autobiography. In an interview with Galatta Plus, the Vikram director mentioned that he has been writing a few pages everyday during the last two schedules of Coolie.

"Every day, I would ask him, 'What episode are you in?'" the director continued. "In which stage are you?" After that, he (Rajinikanth) would inform me that this was what occurred in his 42nd year and that this was what happened thereafter."

Lokesh revealed that the superstar confided in him stories he hadn’t shared with anyone else, making the experience deeply personal and memorable. "It’s something I’ll always hold dear. What stays with you is the journey that man has lived through. The one thing that binds not just me, but everyone in our state to him, is the many challenges he has faced and overcome," he said.

"When Kamal sir and I meet, we crack jokes for like two, three hours. It’s nothing to do with cinema. It’s mostly about what’s going on and around," Faasil said in a chat with The Hollywood Reporter India, underlining the simplicity and depth of their bond. Rather than indulging in film talk, the actor prefers to understand Haasan through presence and observation.

"There has never been a moment where I could ask him: ‘Sir, how did you do that shot?’ But spending time with him, I understand how he did it. The film stars Tanuja as a widow, whom Sukumaran's character marries. She suspects whether her daughter (Madhu Malini) and her spouse are in love but soon realises that it is only her delusion. Thaliritta Kinakkal is the only Malayalam film with a Hindi song, titled 'Shabab Leke', crooned by Mohammed Rafi. The makers wanted Rafi to sing a Malayalam song but the singer said that he would have to learn the language. Music Director Jithin Shyam scored the music for the song to lyrics by Aayish Kamal, Pratap Pothan was one of the actors in the film. Film was released on June 27 1980.

Likewise, Soubin sir, and initially it was written for someone, some other star. I don’t want to mention the name, but I couldn’t work with him for various reasons. But I don’t know where to go after that because I really wrote it for him. I wrote for him for, uh, at least six months, and it was like he couldn’t do it. He couldn’t take it, and I don’t know where to fix that character.”

He didn’t reveal the name of the actor who was supposed to play that role initially. Then he went to Fahadh as his second option, and Soubin was his last option: “I want to work with Fahadh sir again, but Fahadh sir was also not available, and I didn’t want him to do the same thing he had done in Vikram. So I was searching for a lot of other actors, and finally, I’ve signed on Soubin sir.”

Coolie is releasing in theatres on August 14, 2025. The “Monica” song lyric video was recently released, and Soubin appeared in the video alongside Pooja Hegde. Rashmika Mandanna has been cast to play the negative lead of A6. Reliable sources confirmed the development to Bollywood Hungama saying, "Rashmika had the choice to play the negative lead in either A6 or another big Pan India film. Reportedly, Netflix acquired streaming rights of Thug Life for 149.70 crores. Thalapathy Vijay’s The Greatest Of All Time is in the second position with a price of 125 crores (Netflix). Thalapathy Vijay- Venkat Prabhu GOAT opening day collection in four South States and North India is lower than previous film Leo of Lokesh Kanagaraj. Leo first day opening in India was Rs 64 crores while GOAT is Rs 43 crores net. Globally the film opening is Rs around Rs 100 crore and less than Leo’s Rs 143 crores. Chennai with 1100 shows showed a near 100 % occupancy and this was not so in other releasing areas. Yet another factor that GOAT had is that it got special permission to screen shows at 2 AM of Friday. Kerala had 2200 shows and touched only Rs 4-5 crores. Now he has produced a 2015 dated certificate from Writers Guild of America ( west) for his story Brasil from which Bigil was born. Court has issued notices.

Suriya Kanguva is South costliest film - Coolie decoding set right-

Suriya’s Kanguva has joined the list of South biggies that will ignite North Indian screens in coming months according to a Bollywood portal. It is put in the same league as Prabhas Kalki, Pushpa The Rule, Devara, Game Changer and Indian 2. Yet another report in the Bollywood portal , Kanguva is more costly than any of these South films and the budget is put at Rs 350 crores. To quote the portal - The source also mentioned that a film of this stature requires a rock-solid producer and hence, Studio Green came on board to tell this epic cinematic saga to the audiences. If these statements are true, the budget of the Suriya film may surpass the estimated budgets of big-ticket entertainers like Singham Again, Pushpa 2;The Rule, and other films coming this year. The top Bollywood portal in an earlier writeup said - PRABHAS - ALLU ARJUN - NTR JR - RAM CHARAN - KAMAL HAASAN - SURIYA TO BAIL OUT BOLLYWOOD… This is a bitter pill to swallow for those who constantly indulge in North vs South debate. A Rajini fan clears some misconception about Coolie teaser. For one he says that the notion that the film is a sequel to Thee due to gold smuggling and harbor as well as superbike in teaser. He says that Anirudh kept Disco song from Thangamagan purposely as Rajini plays a gold smuggler in that film too. In fact the film might have more to do with Coolie he argues. Dulquer Salmaan has dropped out of Thug Life directed by Mani Ratnam as he has no dates for the Serbia schedule. Who is going to replace DQ at the last minute ?. Insiders say that the shooting schedules are planned according to availability of Kamal Haasan. It was earlier decided that Kamal would move on to H Vinoth fulm before joining Mani. This changed after Kamal put Vinoth in waiting list and decided to dole out dates between Mani and Kalki. With this, all schedules have been advanced and Kamal wants to shoot a sizable portion before he takes to full time campaigning and if he wins, the duties of becoming an MP will occupy him. Usually, actors have been replaced but not after making an official announcement by Mani. Speculation has thrown up names and not found the way to final list. Now we had heard that Keerthy Suresh was to do PS 2 and as it clashed with Rajini’s Annaatthhe , she did not figure. We hear that Jeyam Ravi who sounded for a cameo would step unto DQ shoe. If you look up DQ film line up, you can see why it is difficult to dole away dates ar short notice as it would disturb his other projects. Currently he is doing Telugu film Lucky Basjar directed by Veky Attluri, As he finishes this, it is Suriya- Sudha Kongara film, He has signed a Selvamani Selvaraj film which has Rana Daggubatti too.

Lokesh Kankaraj has to keep LCU concept alive till he finishes directing Rajini as it is not part of LCU. For this he had put a plan of bringing out a small budgeted film which will feature Arjun Das and Kalidas Jayram who played Prabhanjan and Anbu in Vikram. He has roped in Narain to do the script and direction. The film will trace out the Lokesh Cinema Universe from the start to till now. With Thalapathy not being part of Lokesh future films and Kamal post Lok Sabha might not be available, Lokesh has to keep the concept alive for a year. SRK opts out of Rajinikanth film - Indian 2 - Ganguva postponed

Thalaivar 171 directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj is facing a major hitch as a particular role that is very vital but not a full length one needs some with a Stardom. Initially Mammooty was the choice but now it turns out that the Mega Star did not figure in the list. Lokesh is looking for a Star who has not paired with Rajinikanth so far . Mammooty said that maybe Lokesh might be toying with the idea to cast him but so far no one has approached him. He added that if there is a suitable role then he would accept. The recent buzz is that Lokesh called on SRK. Since SRK has done cameos before, he should be interested. SRK said no for two reasons. One was that he had decided not to do cameos. Secondly he said that there is a possibility of him starring with Thalapathy Vijay in an Atlee film and so did not want to do a cameo in a straight Tamil film. Who next ? The next choice is Salman Khan but Rajini has suggested Akshay Kumar with whom he worked in 2.0, a all time trend setter and highest box office grosser. As 2023 comes to an end Rajinikanth stands as the only non Telugu hero to make bo office register huge collections with Jailer figures. The Telugu version alone collected Rs 100 crores gross world wide and within two Telugu speaking States it collected Rs 85 crores. Dil Raju and Asian Studios bought it for Rs 13 crores. Even Vijay’s Leo was able to get this figures.

Latest buzz in Kollywood is that Indian 2 and Ganguva that were to come in January 2024 has shifted to August – September. Reason being that CG works are not going to be ready by then and some that has been done has gone back for correction. These film aimed for Pongal and Republic Day holidays. Now they are looking towards Independence Day and Ganesh festival. Ganguva is Suriya’s first attempt at a Pan Indian release and Gananvel Raja of Studio Green with Andhra based UV Creations are the producers. From Bollywoos there is Disha Patani and Bobby Deol.
