Drishyam 3 IS ON / Thani Oruvan 2 and Indian 3 Hit By Budget

 Drishyam 3 is the most awaited film for Malayalam cinema lovers and other audiences across India. The makers gave an official update of the film on September 17th, much to the excitement of fans. 

On the occasion of actress Meena’s birthday, the team released a poster with the line, “The Past Never Stays Silent.” 

The movie team is going on sets this month. After the Malayalam version of Drishyam 3 gets completed, the Telugu version will go on floors, and the makers eye a summer 2026 release, mostly in mid-March.

Drishyam 3 Plot Focus:

Unlike the previous installments that revolved around external investigations and suspense, Drishyam’s third part will dive deeper into the emotional and psychological dynamics within Georgekutty’s family. The story explores how the family, and especially the children, struggle to get over past events and evolve.

Two Tamil Projects are in the cold storage due to budget constraints. Take Thani Oruvan 2 directed by Mohan Raja with bro Ravi Mohan and produced by AGS. Speaking about the situation, Raja shared that producer Archana Kalpathi responded thoughtfully after hearing the script. “She said this isn’t the right time. The film demands a big budget, and the industry needs to grow further to support such a scale,” he explained.

Indian 3’s progress halted because of the budget issues

Kamal, Shankar, and the producers had multiple meetings to discuss and complete the balance shooting and release the next part. But reportedly, producers are not ready to spend a big budget on the remaining portion of the shoot.

There is also a buzz that Shankar is not convinced to complete the remaining shoot according to the producers quoted amount. So, the budget woes hit Shankar and Kamal Haasan’s Indian 3, and that is the reason for the film not going on floors.

Why is ED after Director Shankar ?

Why is ED going after Director Shankar in the copyright case filed over the Rajini's Enthiran 2.0 story ?. Our legal team has asked that if ED is overriding High Court judgements and stay order and taken the extra effort to get a report from Pune based Film Institute by sending both te matieral= novel by Arur Tamilnandan and Shankar’s script to get a opinion, there should be a political reason. So far we have seen that ED has acted in most cases on political diktat. Whose toes has Shankar stepped on ?. Long back, Shankar directed Muthalvan had irked M Karunanidhi and it was said that in retaliation, all cable network let loose pirated version of the film, finally it was said that Vairamuthu took Shankar to MK and a peace brokered. After that there was nothing much in his later films. Even the latest Game Changer had nothing that irked BJP. Most ironical part is that the copyright complaintant is working in Nakheeran that is pro DMK. I am not sure about this but if true, ED should have arrested the complainant instead. Probing further, Indian 3 is funded by Red Giant and Lyca. Now the film has Kamal as hero. So Red Giant ( Udhayanidhi Stalin) + Kamal Haasan is red flag to BJP and added to it has Shankar spiced up the film with anti Centre dialogues and scenes ? Shankar has bought the rights of the book Velpari written by Madurai MP Venkatesan who is CPM member., All this looks like enough reason. Shankar says except for the media releases from ED, his properties have not faced any action nor has he got any notice. The complaintant asked for Rs 1 crore as compensation but ED has by its statement attached Rs 10 crore worth assests. Why should ED come into a film copyright case > Writer had given a complaint to ED and the copyright case comes under financial crime. The ED recovers assets from economic criminals and compensates victims of financial crimes. So Shankar is an economic criminal as per ED. What a shame 1 The man who through Indian created Indian thaata that fought corruption tooth ,and nail is a economic criminal. Anyway Shankar should go to court to clear this black mark. Already as Director post Game Changer, his stock is low. Meanwhile Lyca has given up on third part as Shankar is asking for a bomb to complete the film. Red Giant will have to enter the arena

It seems that Director Shankar who is busy with Game Changer will shoot a few portions and a song for Indian 3. This schedule and the scenes that need to be shot has been fixed by Kamal  Haasan. The condition is that if Game Changer is a hit and wipes out Director Shankar bad name post Indian 2, then no shoot. If it does not and brings credits to Ram Charan only, then Lyca will fund Indian 3 reshoot. Hey Lucknow! Hombale films has signed a Rs 600 crores deal with Prabhas for three films.  The sequel to Salaar and one film by Lokesh Kanagaraj and Prashant Varma is the other. Before this Prabhas will release Raja Saab , film by Hanu Raghuvapudi and Sandeep Vanga Reddy by 2026, From 2026, the three film deal with Hombale Films will begin. In between Prabhas will finish Kalki sequel. In short the actor whose Kalki touched Rs 1000 crores mark and taking two parts of Bahubaali, it makes three films in that bracket.

On an average the host gets Rs 15 per weekend and there are few extra days like festive days on which he gets Rs 3 crores extra. Lyca cannot fight the Theatre lobby in Tami Nadu and stay afloat. We all know that Suriya who released his movies on OTT during COVID is still in bad books of many exhibitors. Apart from this Kamal Haasan who was first to moot the idea of a joint release in DTH and Theatres during Dasavatharam and faced lot of hostility is now not in a position as he is an active Producer and a politician too.

In fact from what we learn is that Indian 3 is set for a 8 week OTT window and thereby paving the way for release in national multiplex chains in North India and also on IMAX screens. Suriya’s Kanguva has already tied up with national chains in North India on a similar deal.

Why should H Vinoth and Vijay at this stage of the career look for a remake and that of a film with an outdated story ?. Talking about Vijay latest film cast announcement , fans are unhappy that Pooja Hegde considered an unlucky charm is added to the cast . We hear that Priya Mani is part of the cast. Gautham Menon is another add on.

Pooja is part of Karthik Subburaj- Suriya film under production. In Bollywood she has a film with Shahid Kapoor and Pavail Gulati in the lead and directed by Malayalam Director Roshan Andrews. Ahan Shetty starrer Sanki is another film that she is doing. KVN are the Producers.

Prithviraj has yet another Pan Indian film. This time, he is part of Director Rajamouli’s next after RRR. Mahesh Babu is in the lead and this film is titled #SSMB29 and news has created a big buzz. Prithviraj was part of Prabhas Salaar and also part of Salaar Part 2. His film Aadujeevithan the Malayalam film had done well in overseas but within the domestic circuit, it had a limited run in languages other than Malayalam. However the film collected Rs 150 crore. On the topic of RRR and Rajamouli, trade sources say that Producer DVV could not make much money as the budget overshot and in turn release dates got changed. He decided that if any project looked like it risky, he would aback out. He found Prabhas- Maruti project as risky and handed it over to People Media for a margin. Now for Vijay last film, he was okay if the Director had an appeal in multiple languages. Vijay locked H Vinoth and asked Rs 250 crores as his fees. DVV walked out as Vinoth had no appeal outside Tamil Nadu. The most waited film Indian 2 and Bharateeyudu 2” release dates are July 12th, tomorrow a single song release is expected and soon an audio in June 1. Hindustani 2 release has to be on same date and two Hindi films- Veda with John Abraham and Tammannah and Ajay Devgan – Tabu film Auron Mein Kahan Dum. This pair has given two hit- Drishyam and Bholaa. Secondly music is Oscar winner Keeravani. However the most funniest challenge is from film Sarfira and Why ? Two of the producers are Suriya and Jyorika. Director is Sudha Kongara and you guessed it – Remake of Soorarai Pottru. Nothing to fear as hero Akshya Kumar has two big duds in the near past and secondly the Tamil film is on OTT. Going by release dates, we will see 4 Kamal films coming in 2024. Indian 2, Indian 3, Kalki ( cameo) and Thug Life. Of this, Indian 3 might go to January 25. To Think that it was in 1989 that I remember that Chanakayan ( Malayalam) was released and we had Indran Chandran ( Tamil- Telugu) and Vetri Vizha too releasing same year and all were hits. It was my first Cover story and interview of Kamal Haasan for Screen. Kamal Haasan announced that Indian 2 and 3 will release next year and after that  it will pave the way to political platform. He also said that his party MNM’s voice will be heard in Parliament. Udhayanidhi Stalin who is distributing Indian had hinted that there is enough footage for a third part but nothing is fixed. Reports say that  some more shooting remains for Third part and that in the second part the footage of Kamal is less. Yesterday Kamal launched the T shirt for Chennai Runs marathon that Starts from Besant Nagar on November 26^th. Lal Salaam directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth is not releasing for Pongal as it was announced earlier. Rajinikanth plays a cameo in it. Reasons are not known but an official announcement is likely soon. Karthik Subburaj Jigarthanda Double x is about a dark skinned gangster played by Raghava Larence who wants to be the first actor in Kollywood to a karrupu Star and this takes place in an era when Rajini had not come to films. He hires S J Suryah to make film with him as Suryah claims he worked with Satyajit Ray. Bookmyshow online ticket portal statistics show except for Leo opening day bookings that includes pre advance booking, it has from Day 2 to Day 20 has not been able to beat Jailer. For 20 days tickets from the portal for Leo was 7.5 million while Jailer in same period sold 9M tickets, a vast difference of 1.5 M.

Prayaga Martin who has mostly worked in Malayalam made her Tamil debut in Myskkin film PIssasu and in web series Navarasa opposite Surya and directed by Gautham Menon. Her dressing has often led to trolls and recently she was asked about it. She said that she lived for herself and not for others and further she was asked whether the dress she wore was apporopriate for a Malayali actress. She asked whether being  a Malayali actress[ap1]  meant being fully covered up and it was her wish to wear what she feels is right.
