Social media lit up with pictures of a water can in Brahmakalasha. Kantara Chapter 1 is set in the Kadamba dynasty period and has the influence of the tribal culture. But, in Brahmakalasha, a water can could be seen near the madapa and netizens argued that plastic use was next to zero in that era.One netizen wrote, “Didn't know the Kadambas used plastic water cans.” Another commented, “A honest mistake by editors here, it seems.” A fan wrote, “Sad to see this miss because so much care and attention to detail is seen in the movie...” n an exclusive interview with Zoom, Gulshan Devaiah reacted to the video of a man impersonating Guliga Daiva during the screening of Kantara Chapter 1 in Tamil Nadu. Gulshan called the video a ‘cheap gimmick’ to get ‘15 seconds of fame’ on social media. The actor told Zoom, “It was a cheap gimmick. People these days will do anything to get 15 seconds of fame. Videos are going viral, and that’s precious to them. They should really stop doing that. I am nobody to tell people what to do, but this is very cheap. It lacks sincerity. If you do it with sincerity, I understand, and people will sense it and not misunderstand. Like the film.” He added, “Rishab (Shetty) has so much sincerity for this story that he has approached it with sincerity. He will never be misunderstood. He himself is a devout, religious person. I have seen it, and people can sense it also. When people do it devoid of any sincerity, it is a cheap gimmick of going viral. I request that people stop doing it.” Kantara Chapter 1 is directed and written by Rishab Shetty, who also portrays the role of Berme, the protagonist. Rukmini Vasanth is Princess Kanakavathi, the sister of Kulashekhara, played by Gulshan. Jayaram is their father, King Vijayendra. Coolie - Kantara Chapter 1 in TOP 4 RS 300 Cr CLUB

Only Rajinikanth Coolie and Rishab Shetty Kantara Chapter 1 from South are in the top 4 of the Rs 300 crore club of Indian cinema. Two other films are from Bollywood. The box office details of top 4 grossers 2025, 2025 witnessed a lot of competition between two different genres and many solo arrivals. Some of them failed, and others won the hearts of the audience. Moreover, the 300-crore club is taking over, and it is a figure that every filmmaker is trying to hit without missing. Unfortunately, a few titles managed to enter this year, proving for another time, that random stories and themes are not going to work anymore. Let’s have a look at them.
1. Chhaava With the failure of Bad Newz, everyone believed that Vicky Kaushal’s time was over. But one Friday was enough to change everything. Also, no one can forget the intimidating screen presence of Akshaye Khanna. Despite a historical film being released on Valentine’s Day, Chhaava left the trade experts in shock by taking a double-digit opening, and the rest was history. Audiences cried in the final moments, and the lead actor’s never-before-seen intensity made them rethink their opinion. It grossed Rs. 300 crores in ten days and is currently the top Indian film with Rs. 600 crores gross lifetime collected only in India.
2. Saiyaara Mohit Suri is a name that fits perfectly in the list of romance and thriller experts. He knows how to attract the masses without elevation scenes and a hero taking down hundreds of bad guys alone. This time, people questioned if two debut actors, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, would manage to pull huge crowds with Saiyaara. But the situation turned out to be opposite right from the time when people witnessed the glimpses in the form of a trailer and music videos. Compared to Chhaava, Saiyaara accumulated Rs. 300 crores in a week, and the lifetime gross collection in India is Rs. 400 crores. The youth were able to connect with the storytelling, the lead pair’s chemistry received praise, and the public took the memories back home while coming out of the theatres.
3. Coolie The combination of a blockbuster director and a big superstar can create something that will not be forgotten in the future. The same thing happened when Lokesh Kangaraj and Rajinikanth came together for Coolie. People rushed to get their tickets, even in the early morning shows, and gave a big welcome to Rajinikanth on screen. While the crowds did not stop entering theatres, the response was mixed for multiple reasons. The presence of a pan-India star cast also did not help much. Despite leaving a certain section of the public disappointed, the action-drama collected almost Rs. 320 crores gross in India. The number was good but not outstanding as per expectations.
4. Kantara: Chapter 1 Sequels and prequels have always been a big risk. Rishab Shetty undoubtedly had to think and rethink before preparing a good story after the success of Kantara three years ago. The budget was increased, more time was taken in the making, and the results have been phenomenal. Just like the previous part, Kantara: Chapter 1’s climax is now creating an example for other big filmmakers. Some are even questioning whether there is any other actor who can bring a better film or concept like this. As usual, holiday releases can be beneficial for the box office. Kantara: Chapter 1 has already silenced everyone with an opening day number of Rs. 70 crores, despite arriving on Thursday. The highest gross collections came on Sunday with Rs. 72 crores alongside Rs. 51 crores on Friday and Rs. 64 crores on Saturday. The final number remains at Rs. 332 crores. People have not stopped booking tickets, and the lifetime collection could be Rs. 500 crores in India alone. New records have been created. But the question is, who will break them now? There is no answer for now. As mentioned earlier, the situation is different today. The audience is craving for good content, which is one of the major reasons why big films like War 2 and Housefull 5 failed to connect.

Nagarjuna 100 title / Kantara Chapter 1 behind Coolie / LOKAH OTT DATE

Director Ra karthik is getting ready to shoot Nagarjuna King 100 and the title is Lottery King. It has three heroines and music by Rockstar DSP.Rumours suggest that it could Sasikumar film Ayothi remake and instead of Rameswaram the location could be Tirupati. The film has family sentiment backdrop but it will be commedy film with oriented and Nags will be doing the comedy part after a long time. His last two outings - KKubera and Coolie had him in serious roles. Karthik has completed a webseries,
Rajinikanth’s Coolie is the biggest opener at the Indian box office with 150 Cr+ gross worldwide, and OG comes closer with 140 Cr+ gross, and Kantara Chapter 1 did not even come closer, as it collected just 85 Cr gross on the opening day. Even for the 1st weekend (4 days), Coolie is the biggest film this year with more than 380 Cr gross collections, and Kantara Chapter 1 also had a 4-day weekend, but the movie falls short of Coolie, as it collected around 320 Cr gross for the 1st weekend. Kantara Chapter 1 First Weekend: Falls Short of Coolie – Can it score in the full run? But the Rishab Shetty directorial can cover the difference in the coming days, as after the first weekend, Coolie did not hold strong at the box office and managed to get average collections only. This is the reason Rajinikant’s film failed to set the No. 1 position in its full run for 2025. Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava, with 800 Cr gross collection, is the number one grosser for the Indian film industry in 2025, and we need to wait and see whether Kantara Chapter 1 can beat this.
So, it is confirmed that the OTT streaming partner of blockbuster film, Lokah is Jio Hotstar, and the film will be available for streaming from 20th October in all languages. The film’s collections now stand at around 298 Cr gross worldwide, and it will do another 5 Cr from now at the box office. 2025 has been a remarkable year for Mollywood, with the industry achieving impressive milestones at the box office thanks to Mohanlal’s Empuraan, Thudarum, and Kalyani Priyadarshini’s Lokah: Chapter 1 Chandra. With Empuraan, Malayalam cinema sees the biggest opening ever, as the film opens with record-breaking numbers that Mollywood has never seen. Till 2024 Mollywood does not have a single 100 Cr film in Kerala, but this year Mollywood strikes with two films, Thudarum and Lokah. The Malayalam film industry also does not have a single 10M film overseas till 2024. But this year it struck with three 10M films: Empuraan, Thudarum, and Lokah. The year 2025 gave two industry hits for Mollywood. The two industry hits, or all-time highest grossers, are Empuraan and Lokah, while Empuraan, Thudarum, and Lokah all have crossed the 200 Cr gross mark at the box office. The female superhero film Lokah is all set to achieve the 1st 300 Cr milestone for Mollywood. So, the Malayalam cinema continuously sees big blockbusters at the box office this year, and the industry expands massively.

Pushpa 2 Still Top Opener Post Kantara 1 / After Deepika, Alia says NO

On BookMyShow, Pushpa 2 still holds the record with 107K tickets booked per hour at its peak. Kantara Chapter 1 entered the same zone with 74K tickets per hour earlier in the day, which is an impressive feat for Rishab Shetty’s film. Despite the buzz, Pushpa 2’s dominance remains untouched. Few films in Indian cinema look capable of challenging its booking record. Only future titles like Salaar 2 or Kalki 2 appear likely to come close, but Pushpa 2 remains safe for now. Breaking the Allu Arjun starrer’s record will take extraordinary numbers. For the moment, Pushpa 2 continues to lead as the benchmark for advance bookings in India, and audiences now wait to see which film will dare to topple it. Franchise films like Baahubali 2, KGF 2, LCU film Leo, and Mohanlal’s Empuraan did very well at the Kerala box office, but Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 failed to meet expectations and became a big failure. Apart from Allu Arjun’s highly anticipated sequel, all the films listed above debuted with record-breaking numbers and achieved massive success over time in Kerala. Now Kantara Chapter 1 has also exceeded trade’s expectations, and despite not having much pre-release jump and multiple films running in theaters, it still sees a 6 Cr opening, which is one of the biggest openings in Kerala.
Last November Alia Bhatt was in talks to headline filmmaker Nag Ashwin’s yet-untitled woman-led film. But 11 months is a long time for things to change. Ashwin, whose Kalki 2 is now undergoing a round of casting following Deepika Padukone’s exit, is reportedly considering focusing on his woman-centric film in the interim. However, that clashes with Bhatt, who is said to have given bulk dates to Maddock Films’ Chamunda from March 2026. In the latest development, industry chatter suggests that the filmmaker has resumed talks with Sai Pallavi, who has long been his choice to lead the action drama. A source close to the production revealed, “Nag didn’t let go of the idea of the woman-led film. It was simmering on the backburner through most of 2025. With the developments in Kalki 2, bringing the other project forward is a possibility.” Pallavi, however, can allot her dates only after the two-part Ramayana is complete. The source adds, “She is expected to wrap up the second instalment of Ramayana by mid-2026. If the dates align, she could step into Nag’s film before he moves to Kalki 2.” Insiders, however, insist that schedules and casting could shift, given the dynamic nature of the projects in question.

Karthi’s Vaa Vaathiyar and Sardar 2 are in post-production currently. The former is set to hit the big screens in December 2025, while there isn’t any official announcement about the latter’s release timeline. Actor Sai Pallavi, known for her graceful and rooted screen presence, has found herself at the center of social media chatter. The actress recently enjoyed a beach vacation with her sister, Pooja Kannan. The duo shared glimpses of their getaway online. n the photos, Sai Pallavi and Pooja were seen relaxing by the shore, flashing bright smiles, and soaking up the sun in casual beachwear. While many fans showered the sisters with love for their candid and cheerful pictures, a section of social media users reacted negatively, criticizing Sai Pallavi for her choice of attire. They questioned Sai Pallavi for appearing in swimsuit when she is portraying goddess Sita in Ramayana. Sai Pallavi plays Sita in “Ramayana,” opposite Ranbir Kapoor, and the film’s shooting in progress. Some trolls drew comparisons between Sai Pallavi’s traditional on-screen image and her off-screen appearance, questioning her fashion choices.Despite the backlash, Sai Pallavi’s admirers stood by her. Many argued that personal fashion should not be linked to the characters an actor plays on screen.

Actor-director Rishab Shetty has issued an apology over a controversial poster related to “Kantara Chapter 1.” The poster, shared by a fan handle, urged audiences not to enter theaters after smoking or eating non-vegetarian food, claiming the film carried devotional elements and theaters screening it should be treated like temples. The poster quickly sparked criticism and was taken down. When questioned by a journalist, Rishab Shetty clarified that the poster was neither created by his team nor by the production house, Hombale Films. Still, he apologized on behalf of his team, stressing that such messaging did not originate from them.
