Indian 2 on August 2 - Thalapathy backs Chiyaan rival film - Cheran in Tovino film

Decades later two blood relatives and both Stars too are clashing with each other at the box office. We are talking about TOP STAR Prasanth and Chiyaan Vikram. Is Pawan Kalyan – Seeman – Thol Thirumavalan the special guests at the birthday function of Thalapathy Vijay ? Prithviraj has yet another Pan Indian film. This time, he is part of Director Rajamouli’s next after RRR. Mahesh Babu is in the lead and this film is titled #SSMB29 and news has created a big buzz. Now for Vijay last film, he was okay if the Director had an appeal in multiple languages. Vijay locked H Vinoth and asked Rs 250 crores as his fees. To Think that it was in 1989 that I remember that Chanakayan ( Malayalam) was released and we had Indran Chandran ( Tamil- Telugu) and Vetri Vizha too releasing same year and all were hits. Dhanush Rayaan to take Indian 2 release date - Why ?

As Kalki producers announced the release date ( June 27), we learn that Lyca is shifting Indian 2 from June 13th. To top it, Sun Pictures is coming on that date with Dhanush Rayaan starring Dhanush and also directed by him. Main reason for Indian 2 to shift is that Director Shankar has said that a crucial song situation has to be shot in Indian 2 and that it has a link to the third part. Shankar is involved with Game Changer and the song will not be shot before June. Knowing this, Kamal Haasan allotted the dates to Thug Life. This is what we learn. Yet another reason is that Kalki and Indian 2 release dates have only two weeks gap and both are All India release and have Kamal Haasan. Kamal on his part has clarified that in Kalki first part he has limited role and in the entire film the role is a cameo. This is to not crate an overhype about his role especially in South India. However, producers of Indian 2 are not willing to take any chances as they want a clear route and hoping for a 2.0 kind of release and create a box office record and pave way for the sure fire third part. One reason for release postponement is that the third part which is fully ready , needs to be released within three months after second part. Both parts will release in 2024 itself. Sun Pictures has planned Rayaan to come out in Tamil- Telugu and Hindi simultaneously and A R Rahman who has worked with Dhanush in Raanjhanaa (2013), Maryan (2013), and Atrangi Re (2021) ( wikipedia)teams up for fourth time. As it is the 50th film of Dhanush, the hype in Tamil and Telugu film industry will be high. In fact, there were reports that Indian 2 and Rayaan will clash in June and that Sun Pictures backed out. Lyca officially had not announced Indian 2 release date and only the month. Lyca has planned the first part re- release just one month before the second part in a grand way. Reason being that the first part was released three decades ago.

Kamal Haasan- Shankar combo Indian 2 releasing on April first week Friday will have no major South Indian Stars films as opposition as per today’s trade circles charting. In the second week Friday, Surya’s Ganguvaa was to be released and it has been postponed. IN Tollywood, NTR Devara too has been shifted from Summer dates. With these two major territories open, in Kerala the scenario is not so. If Rajnikanth and Aishwarya film is to clash with Dhanush Captain Miller for Pongal then April will see Kamal’s Indian 2 clash with Suriya’s Ganguva on April 11. Lyca announced Kamal film as April 2024 and two good dates are April 5 and 11. If Lyca moves to April 5^th then it will have to face NTR Jr Devara in Andhra and TS.

Japan and Jigarthanda x US collections have ben badly hit after these films got mixed reviews in Indian media. The makers fearing that the response from US could be bad and based on that collections in India would be hit had cancelled Thursday premiere shows. If this was not done these two films could have decent numbers. Karthi Japan collected $44,411 and Jigarthanda got $38,500 only and that too with no Telugu film releases.

The Annual general body meeting of the Chennai Rifle Club for the year 2023 was held on November 4 at the premises of the Police Officers Mess in Egmore, Chennai under the presidentship of Chennai Police Commissioner Shri. The rifle club has two shooting ranges - one each in Egmore and Alamati. The ranges have been named after the late Dr P Sivanthi Aadithyan as a gesture of gratitude for his selfless efforts to facilitate the growth of the shooting sport in Tamil Nadu.

Raghava Lawrence in Thalaivar 171, Malavika Mohan in deglam role - Indian 2 Intro review

 

Raghava Lawrence has agreed to play the baddie in Thalaivar 171 directed by Lokesh Kangaraj. It seems that Lokesh had  offered Santhanam character in Vikram but Lawrence turned it down saying that he did want to be seen in a role that relates to drug peddling. It was played by Vijay Sethupathi. This time Lawrence agreed as he is an ardent fan of Rajinikanth and did not want to miss a chance to act with his idol.

Indian 2 Intro shows Senapathy of Indian and not the early days of Senapathy as we expected. Grandeur in songs and crowd scenes and fight against corruption. The song Come Back India has nothing special to it. Did Shankar made a mistake by replacing Rahman with Anirudh ? We will have to see with next song release ? Is younger Senapathy coming in Part 3 ?

Government order mentions Thalapathy Vijay - Game Changer 2 - Chiranjeevi takes dig at Rajini

Latest news coming from Shankar camp is that Ram Charan’s Game Changer will release in two parts. Reason being that that film has exceeded the budget and if the film releases in one part the producers Dil Raju and Sirish will be left with nothing as the amount got from OTT – digital rights and theatrical business has been spend on shooting so far and still Shankar has not told about when the film will be wrapped up. The producers feel that if the first part does well, then the second part will give them good profits, there are reports that Shankar has enough footage of Indian 2 and so an Indian 3 can be expected.

In a recent interview Chiranjeevi said that he does not depend on BGM to elevate his performance and excite the audience. Many feel that this was a dig at Rajinikanth as at the success meet of Jailer he said that when saw the film without BGM it was just an okay film but after Anirudh’s BGM, it became extraordinary. With one week to go , Leo advance booking in UK has crossed the record set by Paathan. Leo has grossed £ 320.6 k while Pathaan had € 319 K. This is also first Tamil film to get such an advance booking in UK as so far only Hindi films and that too SRK starrer got such numbers. In USA , premiere show booking it at 4 slot as the firsr spot is Kabali, second is Ponniyin Selvan 1 and third is Jailer. Meanwhile many have questioned the Government order issued to grant extra show to Leo for first five days. The order mentions the actor as Thalapathy Vijay and many have asked since when did GO started using titles given by fans. Theatres have decided to have FDFS from 9 AM on Oct 19. Last show is at 1.30 PM. Runtime is 2 hours 44 minutes and 22 second. Makers announced that the film is coming on IMAX screens.

Bigg Boss 7 Tamil wild card entry is Archana VJ of Raja Rani serial fame. A promo AV of her was shot yesterday. As two contestants Ananya and Bava Chelladurai left the house and two others Vinusha Devi and Akshaya were send to jail by BiggBoss for not showing interest in sports activities. Unlike early season where housemates decided who to send to jail, this time BiggBoss decides. Out of 18 housemates, two have left and two are in jail, of the remaining 14, 7 are in second house and they cannot take part in tasks. So BB brings in wild card entry. Business newspapers report that Sun TV is close to buying up Star India network and Hotstar. Also Adani is in the fray as he plans to expand his NDTV network, If Sun TV buys HotStar and Star India, then Bigg Boss ongoing season in Tamil and Telugu would be a Sun TV show. The day highlights are shown in respective Star Vijay and Star Maa and live on Hotstar. Sun is market leader in Tamil and by getting Star Vijay who is second most viewed channel, competition is virtually wiped out. Nayanthara has received an offer from Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for remake of old classic Baiju Bawra. Rocky aur Rani pair Ranveer and Alia are in the lead. Nayanthara has yet to sign . While shooting for Jawan, she had visited Sanjay’s office in Mumbai and he narrated the part that she has to play.

Director Shankar kickstarted the shoot of Game Changer with Ram Charan and Indian 2 makers released a video of the dubbing of the film in Chennai. It showed Kamal and Shankar in the studio discussing the scenes that need to be dubbed.

Tamil Nadu Government is not open to permit any special shows before 9 AM for Leo. In this case the makers planned to hold paid premier show on previous night of October 18th across the State. However theatre owners were not keen as they felt that after seeing the film , many would take to social media with their reviews and this could impact the film. In Kerala, early morning shows are allowed and border districts of Tamil Nadu are now preparing for a trip across to catch the Leo shows before it opens in their home town.

No political pressure says Leo Producer - Indian 2 avoids Pushpa 2 clash

Indian 2 is planning to release in May 2024 after Pushpa 2 makers have officially announced that they are coming on August 15 next year. Lyca had too set the same date but now as both films have national and global appeal, the decision is to avoid a clash. Since the announcement that Kamal and Shruti are going to work together, the fans are eagerly waiting for more details around the project. Shruti Haasan recently hosted an 'Ask me Question' session where one of her fan questioned her about any update on the project with her father. Sharing her excitement, Shruti said "It's a musical project and we are going to announce it very soon on what it is!! I am really excited." Previously, at an event in Dubai when Shruti presented an award to Kamal Haasan for Best Singer, the legendary actor on stage gave us a hint about this project and mentioned that Raaj Kamal Film International and Shruti Haasan are working on new musical project. Since then the anticipation around the project is at its peak. Shruti had previously released two independent singles - Edge and She Is A Hero which received great admiration from the audiences. The actress is planning to release her third single soon, and her fans can’t hold their excitement on it. Apart from this, Shruti will be seen playing a lead role in the much awaited 'Salaar' alongside Prabhas. The film is directed by Prashanth Neel and will be releasing soon. Leo film makers have denied that a distribution company is putting pressure on them to hand over the Chennai theatrical rights. This was circulated in the social media. The audio launch is on September 30. Though most of the cast has been revealed, the film will throw up some suprises for viewers by bring in some actors on screen. After Vikram blockbuster hit, Lokesh teaming up with Thalapathy Vijay has created a big expectation.

Will Indian 2 bite the bait ? Kavin in Jason Sanjay film

It has come to light that Big ticket film Producers in Tamil have opted to take the deal offered by OTT platforms and in turn sacrifice a nationwide release in North India. SRK Jawan box office in South India is one of the highest for a Hindi film and Rajinikanth’s Jailor total collection from Hindi was only Rs 7 crores ! Tamil version collected Rs 264 crores and made a record of sorts. Now the same is happening for Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo as they have cliched a deal with NetFlix and got a price bigger than Pushpa 2. Probing further, it turns out that Pushpa 2 is going for a nationwide release as the first part was a hit nationally. Upcountry national chain of theatres will not pick up films that have a deal with OTT platforms for a 4th week streaming rights from the date of release. Sun Pictures struck a deal with Amazon for streaming from 30th day of release and so multiplex chains in North India did not pick it up and so the film had only limited theatres. Now Leo too faces this fate . National chains want 8 week gap for OTT to stream and trade feels that Tamil producers are losing the Hindi market by not waiting for 8 weeks, Jailer received good reviews in Hindi and upcountry media and had the potential to get more money and expand the market, In contrast, Telugu producers of Star films of Prabhas- Ally Arjun – Ram Charan and NTR Jr do not sign the 4 week deal. It has to be seen whether Kamal Indian 2 produced by Lyca will opt for a 8 week window and tap Hindi belt ?

PM Modi - Unni Mukundan meet lead to rejection of Mallikapuram by jury and boycott Tamil films call in Kerala

Was the Mallikapuram film ignored for a State Award in Kerala due to its alleged propagation of Hindu religion by the Left Government? Alternatively, could it have been overlooked because the film's hero, Unni Mukundan, met PM Modi during his recent visit to Kochi? Despite being a blockbuster hit and garnering praise for the child actor's performance, Devananda, the film didn't receive an award. Director Viji Thampi, who is associated with Viswa Hindu Parishad, stated that during his time as a member of the National awards jury the previous year, there was no interference from the Ministry. This year, the State jury received a pre-determined list of award winners. Interestingly, Devananda also acted in another successful film in 2018. Furthermore, the Kerala film jury had BJP leader Gautami, who is also the Chairperson of the Regional Censor Board, as one of its members.

Director Vinayan, the founder President of MACTA (Kerala Cine Technicians Association), expressed his opposition to the FEFSI's call for using only Tamil actors in Tamil films. In response, he suggested halting the release of Tamil films in Kerala. Vinayan clarified that although he has great respect for the Tamil film industry, and has even directed Tamil films like "Kasi" featuring Vikram, he believes FEFSI's stance goes against the principles of federalism and unity as one nation. Vinayan pointed out that many actors, including Kamal Haasan, have simultaneous releases in Kerala and achieve significant box office success, earning over Rs 150 crores at theaters in the state. He acknowledged that the call for using only Tamil actors in Tamil films has garnered support from various quarters, and in Kerala, there is no objection from the State Government or any film trade body. Regarding his film "19 Noothand," which received three State awards, some criticism arose, suggesting that the film, based on a historical character that brought about social changes, deserved better recognition. In response, Vinayan mentioned that he did not anticipate receiving these awards and expressed gratitude to Chalchitra Academy Chairman Ranjith for the recognition.

Director Shankar has commenced the post-production work of Indian 2. According to internal reports, computer-generated imagery (CG) has been utilized not only for the late actors Nedumudi Venu and Vivek but also to depict Kamal Haasan's character, Senapathi, as a 30-year-old in the movie. CG has been employed in various Hindi films as well, such as "Dhoni: The Untold Story" to portray the childhood days of actor Sushanth, "Lal Singh Chaddha" featuring Aamir Khan, and "Fan" starring Shah Rukh Khan. In an interview, Lokesj mentioned that in the film "Vikram," they also used CG to depict Kamal Haasan, but due to its length, they couldn't include it in the final cut to avoid increasing the runtime. However, he assured that the CG portions will be released at a later stage.

Rajinikanth "Jailer" has received a U/A certification and has a total runtime of 2 hours and 48 minutes. The first half of the film spans one hour and 19 minutes, while the second half is one hour and 29 minutes long. The audio launch event will take place at Chennai Nehru Stadium on July 28th. Among the songs in the movie, two have already become hits, both composed by Anirudh. The lead actress in the film is Tamannaah, and the cast also includes Mohanal and Shivarajkumar.

Red Giant bags Jawan - Body double and CG for Vivek and Nedumudi - Suriya B' Day gift

Red Giant Movies' upcoming release is "Rajikanth Jailer," set to hit theaters in August. Additionally, they have acquired the Tamil and Hindi theatrical rights for "Jawan," a film starring Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathu, for Tamil Nadu. The company's most recent release, "Maaveeran," featuring Sivakarthikeyan, achieved significant success, earning Rs 50 crores worldwide in just five days, with Rs 34 crores coming from India alone. Some of Red Giant Movies' past blockbuster releases include "Thunivu" starring Ajith, "Dada" starring Kavin, "PS 2," and "Mammannan." The founder and owner of the company, Udhaynidhi, who is also a State minister, has decided to pass the baton to his successor and has announced his departure from the film industry. Vijay Sethupathi was offered a staggering sum of Rs 21 crore for his role in the movie "Jawan" alongside Shah Rukh Khan. When asked about his payment for the film "Jawan," Vijay Sethupathi revealed that he would have done it for free as it was his lifelong dream to act with SRK. He also lent his voice to Sivakarthikyan's film "Maaveeran," where the producers, Arun Vishwa, expressed their gratitude by prominently featuring his name, and it's said that Vijay Sethupathi refused any payment, considering it a favor for his friend SK. Vijay Sethupathi has an exciting lineup of films, which includes "Merry Christmas," "Gandhi Talks," "Maharaja," "VJS 51," and "Viduthalai 2," among others. Additionally, there are ongoing discussions for him to take up significant roles in "KH 233," "Sardar 2," and "RC 16."

During the one-year hiatus in shooting Indian 2, unfortunate events occurred as both Vivek and Nedumudi Venu passed away. To preserve their contributions to the film, some crucial scenes featuring these late actors had already been captured. However, Director Shankar faced the challenge of potentially burdening the team with reshooting these scenes with different actors. Therefore, he made the decision to incorporate Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI) to portray Vivek and Nedumudi in the movie. Through the magic of CGI, both actors will be seen in certain scenes, allowing their presence to be preserved. For Nedumudi Venu, a body double resembling him in physique and gait from the Malayalam film industry has been used. The actor is Nandu Poduval.

On July 23, actor Suriya will celebrate his 48th birthday, and on this occasion, an announcement will be made regarding his next project with director Sudha Kongara. This collaboration comes after their successful venture "Soorai Pottru" (SP). Additionally, Suriya will once again team up with G V Prakash for this gangster drama, which is reportedly based on real-life incidents. The movie will be produced under the banner of 2D Entertainment, the actor's home production company. Presently, Sudha Kongara is occupied with the shooting of the Hindi remake of "Soorai Pottru" with Akshay Kumar, while Suriya's upcoming commitments include the film directed by Veterimaaran after he wraps up filming for "Ganguvaa."
