Mrunal Thakur with Dhanush- Allu Arjun ; A comeback Plan / Rajini - Siva / Dhruv- Mani

Why Mrunal Thakur needs a Dhanush romance and an possible Allu Arjun film rumour to move forward in Filmdom ? After earning praise in Telugu cinema with Sita Ramam and Hi Nanna, her recent ventures in Bollywood haven’t seen the same success. Despite an impressive start with Super 30, her following Hindi films like Batla House and the recent Son of Sardaar 2 failed to make a mark at the box office.

Apart from the dating rumours , another one is now swirling about a possible film featuring Mrunal Thakur opposite Allu Arjun, with Atlee reportedly set to direct. Although nothing has been officially announced, the project has already sparked excitement among fans across language boundaries.
Given Allu Arjun’s massive following and Atlee’s strong commercial track record, such a film could provide Mrunal with the visibility she needs in both Hindi and South Indian markets. It could also help bridge her critical acclaim in Telugu cinema with a more bankable presence in Bollywood, something that has eluded her in recent years despite undeniable talent.
However, short-term attention isn’t enough to ensure long-term stardom. Sustained success depends on strong scripts, meaningful roles, and performances that resonate. Star power can open doors, but it is the creative choices that determine how long one stays in the spotlight

While directors Nithilan Saminathan, H. Vinoth, and Vivek Athreya are in talks with the legendary actor, a new speculation has surfaced on social media, and this is something that the fans didn’t wish for. Reportedly, Thalaivar might soon team up with Kanguva director Siruthai Siva. The project is said to be in its early stages, with discussions still ongoing.

Siruthai Siva delivered a disaster for the ages with Kanguva and was brutally trolled by netizens. If the Rajini–Siruthai Siva project materializes, it will mark their second collaboration after Annaatthe, which also received heavy criticism. Telugu producer Srinivasa Chitturi, who backed films like The Warriorr, Skanda, Seetimaar, Custody, and Naa Saami Ranga is likely to bankroll the biggie. After Beast debacle, Rajini went ahead and worked with Nelson but here the film was commercially a hit but a critical failure, Kanguva was a disaster on all fronts. Director Siva and actor Rajinikanth have collaborated on the movie "Annaatthe," which was released in 2021.

Lipika Varma of Deccan Chronicle reports : Actor Dhruv Vikram, son of renowned star Chiyaan Vikram, is set to collaborate with veteran filmmaker Mani Ratnam for an upcoming Tamil film, a source close to the project confirmed. Shedding light on the storyline, the source revealed, “It’s a simple Chennai-based love drama centered around a cop. Naturally, it’s a love story between a police officer and a city girl.” Interestingly, the source added that Mani Ratnam is returning to his roots with this project. “This time, Mani Ratnam is making a film purely in Tamil. It is not a pan-India film. However, the makers do plan to dub it in Telugu and Hindi after its release.”

Regarding the production schedule, the source shared, “Filming for this Dhruv-starrer is expected to begin in September 2025 and will wrap up in just 60 days, by February 2026. Interestingly, it is also said to be the most modestly budgeted film of Mani Ratnam’s career.”
Dhruv has recently wrapped up work on Bison, directed by Mari Selvaraj, which is scheduled for release on October 17, 2025, during the Diwali weekend.

Actress Rukmini Vasanth, whose last release didn’t fare well at the box office, has been roped in to play the female lead opposite Dhruv. She is currently shooting for NTR31.

Director Shankar angry with Koratala Siva or Siruthai Siva ?

Is Director Shankar upset with Koratala Siva of Devara or Siruthai Siva of Kanguva ? In a tweet he threatens legal action against some recent films that have ben lifting profusely from the book written by Su Venatesan’s book Vel Paari. Shankar has bought the rights. Some say that Shankar is angry with Kanguva director for using many situations in the novel and some found their way in the trailor. Others say the timing of the post coming soon after Devara trailor shows that Koratala Siva has liberally used from the book. Only after release of Devara can we know  and the tweet by Shankar is to warn Siva from lifting more from the book for the second part.  Kanguva is a fictional character and a Tamil warrior and could this film be the culprit. Here again a sequel is on the cards.

One post said - Su Venkatesan is a Telugu person and his main agenda is to speak or write against Tamil history. Another felt - But Director Shankar loves to portray historic Tamil characters in negative light in all of his movies. Eg. Angavai Sangavai, Panjavan Paari vendhan etc. This is exactly why this director has chosen to make Velpaari novel, which denigrates a Tamil King, into a movie.

Paari Salaan writes; Do not use historical names from Tamil history in fictional stories, especially if intended to portray them negatively. The entire novel written by Su. Venketesh Naidu portrays the Tamil kings—Chera, Chola, and Pandya—in a negative light, which is historically inaccurate. It falsely accuses them of a genocide that never occurred.

Shankar post - Attention to all ! As the copyright holder of Su. Venkatesan’s iconic Tamil novel "Veera Yuga Nayagan Vel Paari", I'm disturbed to see key scenes being ripped off & used without permission in many movies. Really upset to see important key scene from the novel in a recent movie trailer. Kindly refrain from using the scenes from the novel in movies, web series and any medium, Respect creators' rights! Refrain from Unauthorized adaptations of scenes, Refrain from infringement or face legal action! #VeeraYugaNayaganVelPaari #CopyrightProtection #FilmEthics

Why Siruthai Siva is most apt for `Mass' heroes like Rajini and Suriya ?

Siruthai Siva achieved what Paa Ranjith- Karthik Subburaj-  Murgadoss could not with a Mass hero Rajinikanth. These directors increased their salary after a Rajini film but did they give the box office collection that Annaaatthe got ? .  Which film in recent years reach out to the core audience of Rajinikanth like Annaatthe ?. To a certain extent was Kabali ( keeping the Enthiran series and Sivaji the Boss away from the `recent' list). Annaatthhe was a film that drew the audience in droves to the theaters. It was the answer that however much you carve an audience for films like Jai Bhim / Soorarai Poottru through OTT, the  core processor of Tamil cinema is still on a technology that you wrongly understood as phased out.

Suriya and Gananavel had collaborated with Siva for a film that was `mass'. Suriya after the Singham series had not given anything that took him to the namma annnachis and aachis. Siva on the other hand with Ajith was rolling out hits. Fatigue sets in and Ajit moves on while Siva signs Suriya film.. It was three years back.

At this point, Rajini sees a Ajith film that talks of brother- sister- wife- hubby - father- daughter ties. So Gananvel and Suriya tells Siva to go and take up Rajini film. reason being that after a Rajini film , the brand value of Siva will be high and so Ganandvel can rake in his moolah.

Old timers say that there was a situation in the long past that when KB and Bharathiraaja - Balu were just getting Tamil cinema and audience to move away from crass masala. At that time, SPM directed Kamal in Sakalakala Vallabhan and it was everything that Tamil cinema was synonymous. KB is said to have never forgiven Kamal for doing this film and taking cinema back into the serpents mouth.

From the producer point Siva is not obstinate that he has to have a X budget and  his wastage ratio is minimal as he is more or less clear about what he wants and shoots them. He does come with a baggage that makes him go in for `visual ' exravaganza to put his stamp on the film. A film called Darbar was directed by Murugodoss and his salary alone was Rs 33 crores. He came with a similar budget for Vijay and Sun TV told him to slash the budget. Vijay agreed to do the film but bot reduce his salary. So, it leaves Murugodoss to take a pay cut.  Project dropped. Vijay plus  Nelson = Beast - Next Sun Pictures on the floor.
