  The USA market has become a crucial battleground for both “Coolie” and “War 2,” which are set to release on August 14, 2025, with premiere shows scheduled a day earlier across North America.With two major star-studded films clashing, the premiere show revenues are expected to take a hit, as both films largely target the same core audience base.

Nayanthara - Sundar clash averted / Dual role for Allu Arjun in Atlee film/ Crumbling Kerala Box Office

Nayanthara highhandedness with an AD of Director Sundar C on the sets of Mookuthi Amman 2 led to stopping of the shooting. The dispute arose after the Actress who plays the title role and AD had an argument over a costume that the actress refused to wear . A different costume was her choice and that of her personal costumer. As the Directorial unit felt that the argument went overboard, they raised the matter with Sundar. He called for a packup. Tempers flew and things reached a flash that it was either the Director or the Actress who be in the film. It seems Producer Ishari Ganesh mediated and shooting started at a temple on outskirts of Chennai. Pollachi schedule was cancelled. Nayanthara and Sundar’s production companies are co- producers with Vels Ishari Ganesh.

On April 8th, the official announcement of Allu Arjun- Atlee film is expected. Sun Pictures is the Producer and like Theri, Mersal ( triple), Bigil,Jawan, Atlee has given a dual role to Allu Arjun. Anirudh is the composer. Shooting might be in August.

After Atlee moving to Tollywood with Allu Arjun, next in line is Lokesh with Ram Charan. It seems KVN Productions after Jananayagan with Vijay and Yash’s Toxic has signed a three film deal with Lokesh and one of them is a Ram Charan film. Whether Kaithi2 and a subject featuring Suriya as Rolex ae part of this we are not aware.

Empuran is turned out to be India’s No 1 box officer opener at Box office as per ticket booking platforms and on the other side last month – February 7 films released in the Kerala theatres. Tovino Thomas starrer Identity’, made on a budget of Rs 30 crore, managed to collect only Rs 3 crore from theatres in Kerala,” said the report.

Is Vijay Sethupathi finally going to act in a Ajith film ?. From what we hear it is going to be true as the Vignesh Shivan project that was shelved will be revived soon and whether it will be next or in the pipeline we are not sure but it has got life. One reason that Ajith rejected the film was that it was a bit underwhelming and apart from that the film was certain to clash with Vijay’s film. Since then Wikki has reworked on it and present script is in tune with Ajith kind of film. Lyca could be backing this as it would sort of compensate the Vidamuyurchi loss. Billa, Viswasam, Aarambam with Nayanthara have been hits and quite likely it could come back again. Sethupathi was part of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan directed by Vignesh and later in own production Rowdy Pictures Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal . Vijay Sethupathi is set to act in a Web Series to be made by Jio Hotstar titled, Muthu Engira Kattan. This Web Series is said to be a rural action drama also featuring Bollywood Actor, Jackie Shroff in a prominent role. Earlier, Director Manikandan came on board for the Series and also shot a few episodes but it is now learned that he has opted out. Director Arumuga Kumar is being considered for helming the Director’s work. Atlee and wide co-produced Baby John the Hindi remake of Tamil film Theri. The remake rights was bought for Rs 10 crore. Film bombed badly at box office.

Sivaji Films that produced Chandramulkhi the Tamil film starring Rajinikanth and Nayanthara has send a legal notice to the actress and OTT giant Netflix for using scenes from the film in wedding documentary. Popular actor and YouTuber Chitra Lakshman revealed this information on Monday through his channel. Earlier, actor-producer Dhanush had sued Nayanthara for Rs 10 crore for using scenes from his production venture Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. Sivaji Productions has demanded Rs 5 crores as compensation.

Thalapathy Vijay scares Bollywood - Marco answer to Blue Sattai Maran - Samudrakanni lucky charm

 

The remake rights of Baby John was bought from Tamil film Producer Thanu for Rs 10 crores and the Tamil film Their starred Thalapathy Vijay with Samantha in the lead and directed by Atlee of Jawan fame. Baby John is an utter flop. Now Bollywood and Salman Khan fans are terrified after hearing the news that Sikandar is remake of Thalapathy Vijay’s Sarkar directed by A R Murgadoss.  Murgadoss who is coming back to Bollywood after a long gap and makers have not responded. Tamil film Producer Kalanithi Maran of Sun Pictures has not confirmed this.

After Baby John, Thalapathy Vijay has become a bad word in Bollywood. Now after Thanu said that Rs 10 crores was got for They remake , many feel that Paramount asking Rs 85 crore as remake rights for Breakdown being remade as Vidamuyurchi with Ajith is not too much.

As if an answer to Tamil film critic Blue Sattai Maran, After reigning dominance in the Indian movie market, Unni Mukundan’s latest blockbuster ‘Marco’ made with a budget of just Rs 30 crore, is heading to Korea. The producers of the movie have inked a deal with Korea’s famous Noori Pictures is distributing the film. Maran termed Marco as a cheap Korean film copy.

After Pushpa 2, yet another film is giving good moolah to theatres in North India is Marco. The Hindi dubbed version of Malayalam film Marco has been doing good business and what drove the Day 13 collections is the increase in screens for its Hindi version, which brought in Rs 1.2 Cr (Marco’s highest single-day collection for a dubbed version since its release), and the Telugu version that hit theatres on January 1, fetched Rs 1.15 Cr.

The Hindi version of the film, which is rated A for its non-stop violence and bloodletting , played 1200+ shows, with Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad leading with 224, 93 and 57 shows, respectively. The Hindi-dubbed version had also released in GCC countries on January 1 reports OTT play. On January 3, Tamil version has been released. It is first Malayalam film to do a Rs 1 crore collection in North India.

Atlee - Vijay Sethupathi next - Chiyaan Vikram- Kamal are OTT flops - Lost Ladies out of Oscars

Atlee said during the press meet that he will be the producer for the Vijay Sethupathi starrer which will be directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan who is best known for the film ‘Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom’. Vijay Sethupathi will be playing the lead character in this untitled project. The filmmaker and Vijay Sethupathi had earlier joined forces for the 2023 film Jawan. A6 the Hindi film is with Salman Khan in the lead.

Thngalaan miserable OTT flop

Chiyaan Vikram this year had only one release, Thangalaan, that had a disastrous run at the box office, earning 71.45 crore worldwide. The film arrived on Netflix unceremoniously on December 10. However, it had a lukewarm response on OTT as well.

In the debut week of its OTT run, the Tamil action drama as per Netflix’s data from December 9 to December 15, garnered a viewership of 1.5 million. This is one of the least viewed South Indian films in its debut week on Netflix.

Oscars shortlist is out. #LaapataaLadies is a very well made, entertaining movie (I enjoyed it), but was absolutely the wrong choice to represent India for the best #InternationalFeatureFilm category. As expected, it lost. When are we going to realize.. year after year.. we are choosing the wrong films. There are so many excellent movies made, and we should be winning the #InternationalFeatureFilm category every year! Unfortunately we live in a "Mainstream Bollywood" bubble, where we cannot look beyond films that we ourselves find entertaining. Instead we should just look for good films made by film-makers who are uncompromising in their art.. low budget or big budget.. star or no star.. just great artistic cinema. Below is the poster of #LaapataaLadies, I am sure most academy voting members dismissed the film just by looking at these.
