Adipurush reviews create war on social media - 2018 director opens up on OTT

War of words has erupted between Telugu social media and the Tamil- Malayalam netizens over Adipurush. The combined opening in Tamil Nadu and Kerala for the film is only Rs 2 crore while the film comined opening in two Telugu speaking States is Rs 45 crore and Karnataka has Rs 7 crore opening. In Hindi the opening number is Rs 35 crore. Telugu social media feels that Tamil and Malayalam movie buffs are jealous that a Telugu film has got such an opening in North India and overseas ( Rs 29 crores) on opening day . They point out that Tamil films do not get such high numbers outside their own State or overseas. They cite films like Ponniyin Selvan that collected only in Tamil Nadu and to an extent in Kerala. Culling scenes from Adipurush and trolling them for most anticipated films is quite expected on social media but this time Telugu film goers or maybe Prabhas fans have taken objection to it. They point out the makers have at the outset made a disclaimer that they have taken cinematic liberty with Valmiki Ramayan. Saif Ali Khan’s haircut and looks as Ravanan and long haired mustached Prabhas as Ram to the chic looking Sita are being trolled. Some say that the producers allotting a seat for Hanuman in each show has been ridiculed as they say that Hanuman sitting for three hours would have been a torture. Most often comment is that better Ramayan on Kids TV is much better than Adipurush. In Hyderabad outside theatre a YouTuber giving a review saying that it was like in a playstation was beaten by fans. Videos of a seat earmarked for Hanuman in a theatre given an arthi and a money getting inside the theatre to chants from audience shouting Jai Shri Ram are viral.

Jude says that if his next film is not doing well at theatre, they will not screen it till it comes on OTT. -------

No craze for Adipurush dubbed versions in Tamil Nadu and Kerala has been puzzling. Considering that Ramayana is known all over India, these two States have not seen any kind of frenzy that the film has generated in two Andhra States and Karnataka. In fact this Friday, the Tamil film Por Thozhil starring Sarath Kumar and Ashok Selvan is getting more screens in Kerala as word of mouth publicity and reviews are positive for the investigative thriller, actress Nikhila Vimal along with Sunil Sukhada and Santosh Keezhathoor who play important roles in the film are popular faces in Mollywood , adds to the factor for the film to attract Kerala audience. Madonna in Leo - Adipurush a loss - Andhra - North India has no theatres for Jailer

The release of Rajanikanth's film, "Jailer," on August 10, is unlikely to have many theaters in North India. However, "OMG 2," "Animal," and "Gadar 2" are all scheduled to be released on August 11, which falls on the Independence Weekend. Both "Animal" and "Gadar 2" had previously announced their release for August 11, and now "OMG 2," starring Akshay Kumar, has also confirmed the same date. Consequently, three films in total have announced their release on the same date. Already Chiranjeevi's Bhola Shankar is releasing on August 11 and taking away major theatres in Andhra States.
People Media Factory, the company that acquired the global rights for Adipurush, is currently facing a potential loss of Rs 50 crores even before the film's release. While the producers Bhushan Kumar have managed to profit from the deal and the OTT rights, there is uncertainty about whether the movie will have a sustainable success after its initial opening. The underperformance of Radhe Shyam and the failure of Shakunthalam have made the industry wary and cautious. Additionally, even the successful Telugu films in the first five months of this year have not come close to matching the success of last year's hits.Ranbir Kapoor has made the decision to purchase 10,000 tickets for Prabhas' film Adipurush and distribute them among disadvantaged children. A portion of the Bollywood media is attempting to portray this act as another strategy employed by the producers of Adipurush to generate positivity and generate some buzz for the movie. Adipurush is being produced by Bhushan Kumar, who is also the producer of Ranbir Kapoor's film Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. They are making accusations that Bhushan Kumar of T-Series is acquiring these 10,000 and 15,000 tickets under the names of their acquaintances and actors. These allegations suggest that Bhushan Kumar himself will purchase the 10,000 tickets, but it will be projected as if Ranbir Kapoor has bought them and is distributing them among the children.
The theatre owners in Kerala have announced a two-day strike on June 7 and 8 in opposition to the early release of Malayalam films on OTT platforms. Despite the fact that a highly successful Malayalam film like 2018 was still performing well in cinemas, it was made available on OTT platforms less than five weeks after its theatrical release. The theatre owners are demanding that no film be released on OTT platforms until at least 90 days have passed since its theatrical release. A few months ago, the Tollywood industry also expressed its intention to take action against the early OTT release of theatrical films. However, this measure has not been implemented effectively, as many films are now opting for early OTT releases. The Telugu Film Chamber had previously agreed upon a minimum eight-week theatrical window for all films after extensive discussions and meetings with producers and stakeholders. Unfortunately, this rule has proven ineffective, as producers who have suffered losses from unsuccessful films are enticed by offers from streaming platforms for early OTT premieres. It is natural for producers to seek to recoup some of their losses by selling their films on OTT platforms. Even a high-budget film like "Agent" was initially scheduled to be released on OTT just three weeks after its underwhelming theatrical run, but the OTT premiere was delayed due to other factors. While these protests in the Malayalam industry may attract attention, it is unlikely that a rule mandating delayed OTT releases will endure in the face of financial considerations. Similar attempts in Tollywood have failed, and it is probable that the same outcome will occur in the Malayalam industry as well.

This film happens to be the highly anticipated 50th project of Dhanush, which holds great significance in his career. Reports suggest that this film will boast a substantial budget, marking a significant milestone for Dhanush. In recent news, it was disclosed that Dhanush, Sundeep Kishan, and SJ Suryah will portray siblings in the film, with SJ Suryah playing the eldest brother. Linguswamy, the director of the first installment of Paiyaa, has been making efforts to create a sequel for quite some time. It is rumored that he has managed to impress Karthi with the script. The official announcement regarding the sequel is anticipated to be made in the near future. This movie achieved blockbuster success in both Tamil and Telugu languages. Linguswamy's previous films, including Run, Sandaikozhi, and Paiyaa, were highly successful at the box office.
Dil Raju, a well-known producer and distributor, had initially planned to release the movie "Adipurush" starring Prabhas in both the Nizam and Uttarandhra regions. However, when the Telugu states rights for the film were transferred from UV Films to People Media Factory, the entire situation changed. Recent reports indicate that the producer has set the price for the Nizam region at 60 Crores and the Uttarandhra region at 22 Crores. It appears that Dil Raju, possibly due to his past experiences with big movies turning into failures, has decided not to distribute Prabhas's "Adipurush." The reports also mention that the makers are investing Rs 2 crore in the pre-release event, which is expected to be attended by various celebrities from the Telugu film industry. Additionally, the makers are planning to unveil a trailer for the movie during the pre-release event scheduled for June 6.

Dhruv Vikram new single out -Kerala theaters to classify films - Fahadh Faasil in Pushpa The Rule getup - Adipurush trailor in 20 countries

Dhruv Vikram, who previously wrote and sang "Missing Me" from the movie Mahaan, has once again teamed up with composer Santhosh Narayanan. However, this time, they will collaborate on an independent single called "Poomadhiye," which Dhruv Vikram has directed and starred in. The song features lyrics by Vivek, and the audio was released recently, accompanied by a teaser video that shows Dhruv Vikram hanging out with friends at a roadside tea shop and walking on an overbridge on the Rajiv Gandhi IT Expressway. The full music video will be available on YouTube tomorrow. As for Dhruv's movie career, he will play the lead role in Mari Selvaraj's upcoming sports biopic, which is based on the life of Kabaddi player Manathi Ganesan.
Fahadh Faasil is currently working on Jithu Madhavan's next project, titled Romancham. The filming is taking place in Bengaluru, and the movie is said to be a college campus-based entertainer, featuring Fahadh in the role of a gangster. His appearance in this film is expected to be similar to that in his upcoming movie, Pushpa: The Rule. Anwar Rasheed and Nazriya Nazim are producing the film jointly, with Sameer Thahir serving as the cinematographer and Sushin Shyam as the composer. The Kerala Exhibitors have introduced a new policy where a screening charge will be applied to movies that are deemed to be of low quality. According to Vijayakumar, who is the head of the Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK), members will grade the films based on the director, actors, production company, and distributor standing in the industry. Additionally, the exhibitors will collaborate with Actor’s body AMMA and Producers Association to create a regulatory system that will limit the release of films per week. Vijayakumar believes that the reason for the films flopping is due to the content being made for OTT platforms and not for the theatre experience. He added that priority will be given to films that provide a visual treat. Previously, theatre owners believed that damaging reviews from online channels were the primary reason for a film's flop. To address this issue, they decided to stop these channels entry to the movie hall premises to record the viewers' opinions. However, with the new grading system and parameters, new banners, directors, and actors will be required to pay a screening charge, which includes rental fees and distributor commissions. This means that new producers who want to release their films on their own will also have to pay the new charges. In practice, big banners with established stars, directors, and actors will benefit the most from this new system.
