PAWAN KALYAN KICKS OUT SRK FROM TOP 10 INDIAN FILMS

Pawan Kalyan with OG dethroneed Shah Rukh Khan the only Bollywood Star who had a place in the top 10 biggest openers of Indian Cinema. With no immediate films from SRK, it looks like SRK will have to stay out of the list this year. In fact only Bollywood film company that has a place in top 10 is the one that produced AdiPurush and starring Prabhas. In fact Prabhas has five films in the list.

All this true but one thing is that OG does not click in Hindi and Pawan's Pan India dream still remains elusive. As per Sacnilk, it earned Rs. 50 lakhs on Day 1, Rs. 40 lakhs on Day 2, and Rs. 50 lakhs on Day 3. That makes about Rs. 1.4 crores over three days, and projections suggest only around Rs. 2 crores by the end of the extended weekend.

Read on; Until Pawan Kalyan arrived with a tsunami of numbers, it was Shah Rukh Khan, the only Bollywood actor acting as the saving grace for Bollywood in the list of the top 10 Indian openers ever! Jawan, with an opening day collection of 75 crore, held the tenth and the only spot by a Bollywood actor in the list!

Pawan Kalyan’s They Call Him OG, with its 80+ crore opening day collection, pushed Jawan out of the top 10 list. Now, the entire list is dominated by South Indian actors, with Prabhas ruling the maximum number of spots with his 5 films!

The top 10 Indian openers list now contains only 1 Bollywood film – Adipurush, since it was a Bollywood production. However, it does not have any Bollywood actor holding the fort anymore! The disappointing part is the list might remain like this for the rest of the year as far as the entry of a Bollywood film is considered!

Currently, with 3 months remaining for 2025 to end, there are only two major releases – Thamma and Dhurandhar that are yet to arrive at the box office, but none of them might manage to enter the list of the top 10 Indian openers!

Dil Raju with Ajith / Rahman gets Relief in Copyright case / SRK and Kantara 1

 Ajith to lead the second Tamil Film of Dil Raju?

Telugu Producer Dil Raju  made a successful debut in Kollywood with Vijay’s Varisu, and the latest news is that he has approached Ajith for a violent film with Marco director Haneef Adeni. Currently, negotiations are reportedly underway between the two parties. Following the success of Good Bad Ugly, Ajith has signed his next film with Adhik Ravichandran, and if all goes well, the upcoming project will be produced by Dil Raju.

Kollywood insiders report that Ajith is demanding a hefty remuneration these days, and it will be interesting to see how Dil Raju negotiates with him.

Music maestro and Oscar winning composer AR Rahman was accused of copyright infringement over a song rendered by him in Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan 2 in 2023. Classical singer Faiyaz Wasifuddin Dagar had sued Rahman over the composition of Veera Raja Veera song with an allegation that it was copied from the song Shiva Stuti composed by his father Nasir Faiyazuddin Dagar.

In April this year, a single judge bench ruled in favour of the complainant and directed Rahman to give credit to the original composers and also fined him a sum of 2 Crores to be paid as compensation with addition to costs worth 2 lakhs. Rahman then appealed against this order and a division bench stayed this injunction but directed him and the producers of PS 2 to pay the sum of 2 Crores as compensation.

Now, the division bench of Delhi High Court on Wednesday set aside the single judge’s ruling. Justices C Hari Shankar and Om Prakash Shukla delivered the order while hearing Rahman’s appeal against the previous single-judge ruling.The bench said that they will allow the appeal, adding, “We have authored concurrent opinions. We have set aside the impugned order by the single-judge on principle.” The HC did however, clarify that it had not yet examined the actual question of infringement at this stage.

AR Rahman is currently busy working on Ram Charan’s upcoming pan-India film Peddi. He is returning to Tollywood after nearly two decades with this film.

A key highlight of Kantara Chapter1 is the VFX created by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies VFX. Fans pointed out how Hombale Films once clashed with SRK at the box office when Salaar released alongside Dunki in Christmas 2023. That clash sparked an online fan war filled with negativity. Now in 2025, the same production house has partnered with Red Chillies VFX for one of its biggest projects, showing how past rivalries have been left behind. Many note how Red Chillies VFX did not hold grudges against Hombale Films despite the earlier clash. With Kantara Chapter 1 scheduled to release on 2nd October, fans believe Rishab Shetty and the team are ready to create history again. The theatrical release of Bhool Chuk Maaf starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, has been cancelled after heightened security drills across India. The announcement, which was made by its makers a day ahead of the release, followed India’s Operation Sindoor targeting terror camps in Pakistan. The film will now premiere on OTT. Makers said that they had taken this decision keeping in mind nation’s priorities in mind.

The All India Cine Workers Association(AICWA) has issued a firm statement enforcing a complete ban on Pakistani artists, filmmakers, and financiers working in the Indian cinema industry. This statement came immediately after Pakistani actors Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, and Mawra Hocane, who have worked in Bollywood, criticized the Indian Army’s Operation Sindoor.

AICWA strongly condemns the filmmakers, producers, and artists of the film Abir Gulal for casting Pakistani actor Fawad Khan despite the Pulwama attack, where several Indian soldiers were martyred. What message do such filmmakers want to convey? They even came to India to release this film, showing complete disregard for the nation’s sentiments. This is a disgrace to the sacrifices made by our brave soldiers.

The depiction of the Godhra incident from a secular viewpoint or in other words the victims were Muslims given shelter by a Hindu and the attackers were Hindus in L 2 Empuran seems to have caught the imagination of overseas Indian diaspora. The Film has set a benchmark for Malayalam filmdom in terms of overseas collections. This is the first film for Mollywood to cross $10Million and also 100 crore at the Overseas box office. This record also looks unbeatable and may remain untouched for long years.  The scripting of Murali Gopy combined with Prithviraj’s Direction and the ` shock marketing’ later yielded dividends overseas but not within India.

The film’s box office run was limited to Kerala and not outside. The final Indian tally shows that it has not collected enough to cover the investment from the ticket sales. On OTT too L 2 Empuran is not a great attraction. The controversial elements were later dited out by Director after a backlash on social media.

Dil Se of Mani Ratnam and Hey Ram of Kamal was edited without Director's knowledge !!!

For Dil Se of Mani Ratnam featuring SRK, Priety Zinta and Manisha Koirala when released had audience walk out after 15 minutes of the show as they came to see Chaiya Chiya song featuring SRK and Malaika. Here again Bharat Shah was the presenter along with Ram Gopal Varma. Shah wanted the song to come gain second place and that too after a bomb blast scene. RGV told Mani and the query he got back was ‘How can Shah Rukh Khan hug Manisha Koirala and imagine Malaika Arora?’. Bharat Shah answer was that audience will not ask this and only to see the song again. Shah was worried as samosa sellers in theatres complaied that audience walked out after Chaiya song coming in 15 minutes after the start. Did you know that Hey Ram Hindi version was cut short by 20 minutes and that too without the Knowledge of Director Kamal Haasan ? Did you know that Uyire’s Hindi version Dil Se had the song Chaiya Chaiya two times and it was done despite objection from Director Mani Ratnam. Hey Ram completes 25 years and on this occasion a flashback. Bharat Shah who presented the film Hey Ram in Hindi felt that it was too long. He called Rajkumar Santoshi to see the film and trim it by 30 minutes. Santoshi who follows Tamil as his mother is a Tamil lady and was born in Chennai has directed superhit films like Damini, Ghayal, ghatak , Pukar and earned several awards after seeing it knew that from Kamal’s viewpoint, all shots were important but for North audience it was not digestible. He cut it by 20 minutes and did a fine balancing job between two versions.

Did Pushpa 2 fake box office / IT raid why ? / SRK and Allu Arjun in a film ?

Pushpa 2 Producers payments to Allu Arjun, Sukumar Writings and AA Entertainments that distributed the film in North India were found to be not in order in the IT returns filed by Mythiri Movie Makers. The three players are now to set right the records with the IT who has taken records after the raid. Sources say that it has nothing to with Allu Arjun or false box office claims. Here is a detailed look at the IT records: In case of Pushpa 2- Mythri owns 55% stake of Pushpa 2 only Allu Arjun owns 30% of stake Sukumar own 15 % of stake. - Budget of Pushpa 2 - 250 cr, Non theatricals were sold flat for 420 cr. So that means they had 170 cr profit already before theatrical release In that-Allu Arjun got - 51 cr ,Sukumar - 25.5 cr Mythri made - 93.5 cr This income was taxed appropriately and everyone paid the taxes.. As all these payments are in white, IT had no issues. It was with theatricals that doubts came up: AP/TG - 180 cr Producer released on their own most of the territory and few third party their share was close to 155 cr Hindi- 447 cr Of which 340 cr was producers share and AA film North distributors made whopping 107 cr . In other South States m Producers went on a sharing basis In TN - 41 cr Of which AGS made 5 cr and Producers made 36 cr Karnataka - 45 cr and Producer made 40 cr Kerala - 7 cr and Producer made 6 cr Overseas - Producer made 100 cr Total Producers made was 780 cr Approx- Split up was Mythri made 429 cr Allu Arjun made 234 cr,Sukumar made 117 cr Now Mythri could show taxes for 429 cr but transactions to sukumar writings and Allu Arjun was not properly accounted and IT officers questioned them on that. They have got 350 cr share which means Rs 500 to 600 cr gross and not reported amount of Rs 780 crore. IT department is working with Sukumar writings , Allu Aejun and AA entertainments to fix the shortfalls from Rs 780 cr to Rs 600 cr . So was Mythiri giving inflated figures ? NO. Recorded footfalls show the truth Pushpa had 5.5 cr audited footfalls so far . RRR and KGF2 had less than 5 cr . Also price rise of tickets was across whole India for only 2 to 4 weeks till Christmas release.

The news that SRK and Allu Arjun are coming together had exited fans of both actors who are biggest box office draws. Now the truth; According to a source quoted by Bollywood Hungama, “Both Shah Rukh Khan and Allu Arjun are Thums Up ambassadors. The brand wanted to unite them for an ad that would captivate audiences across India. Shah Rukh’s fanbase extends into the South, proven by Jawan’s remarkable performance in those markets. Andhagan the Prashanth comeback film that was released before this film is yet to find an OTT release and in Chennai, it continues to be screened in some theatres.

Rakul Preet Indian 2 cameo - Anirudh - SRK again- Jeethu- Fahadh - Lal- Shobana - Suriya- Pooja Hegde team up

Will Mohanlal attend the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla on January 24 in Ayodhya ?. Salaar Hindi version has got less screens than Dunki in North India and especially in PVR Chains of theatres. This is seen as method to boost Dunki and pull down Salaar in North. In retaliation, Salaar makers have threatened to not screen in any PVT theatres in South. Yet there is another reason and that is PVR CEO has sung a song in Dunki and so the favoritism. Now PVR has agreed to renegotiate screens as it realizes that Salaar advance bookings are record breakers in the South. Ironically, Tollywood is quiet as it feels that Salaar frequent cancellation of release dates affected business of many medium films.

Veerappan a fan of Rajinikanth was tricked - Salaar is like Animal v/s Romantic Dunki

Speaking about the series Koose Munisamy Veerappan streamed on Zee5 OTT, Editor of Nakheeran, who conducted the interview with the bandit said that Rajinikanth was not aware of what Veerappan had said about him in 1996. Veerappan said that Rajini is like MGR who knows about the problems of common man and is a God fearing man. He said that Rajini should go it alone and not join anyone as he will be ambushed. Gopal said that knowing Veerappan was a film crazy man and fan of Rajinikanth, he had to negotiate a deal with Veerappan and for that he asked Karunanidhi DMK Chief to ask Rajini to call him. Gopal told him that he wanted to tell Veerappan that Rajini wanted to make a film with him and please Veerappan. Rajini gave the go ahead and Gopal went ahead with this trump card. This was in 1997 and after that Gopal has not spoken to Rajinikanth.

If Rajnikanth and Aishwarya film is to clash with Dhanush Captain Miller for Pongal then April will see Kamal’s Indian 2 clash with Suriya’s Ganguva on April 11. Lyca announced Kamal film as April 2024 and two good dates are April 5 and 11. If Lyca moves to April 5^th then it will have to face NTR Jr Devara in Andhra and TS.

Japan and Jigarthanda x US collections have ben badly hit after these films got mixed reviews in Indian media. The makers fearing that the response from US could be bad and based on that collections in India would be hit had cancelled Thursday premiere shows. If this was not done these two films could have decent numbers. Karthi Japan collected $44,411 and Jigarthanda got $38,500 only and that too with no Telugu film releases.

The Annual general body meeting of the Chennai Rifle Club for the year 2023 was held on November 4 at the premises of the Police Officers Mess in Egmore, Chennai under the presidentship of Chennai Police Commissioner Shri. Sandeep Rai Rathore I.P.S., who is also Ex-officio President of the club, and Additional Commissioner (HQ) Shri. Kapil Kumar C Saratkar I.P.S., who is the Vice President of the club.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Sandeep Rai Rathore delighted the gathering by assuring them of his continued support for the growth of the shooting sport.

The election for the posts of office bearers and executive committee fo the period 2023-26 was also held on the occasion.

Well known national award winning film producer K Rajsekar Pandian was elected Honorary Secretary of the club while Balaji Dayalan and S Sibi Rajesh were elected Honorary Joint Secretary and Honorary Treasurer respectively.

R Sathish Kumar, S Karthik, Meera Jagadish, K Murugan, Dr Parthiban Manoharan, R M Ashwin Kumar, D J Ranjith Jai prabhu, R Venkatram and P Kandhavel were elected as members of the Executive Committee.

The prestigious Chennai Rifle Club was formed in the year 1952 with an aim of not just honing its members' shooting skills but also instilling in them laudable qualities such as discipline and self-consciousness.

Red Giant Movies' upcoming release is "Rajikanth Jailer," set to hit theaters in August. Additionally, they have acquired the Tamil and Hindi theatrical rights for "Jawan," a film starring Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathu, for Tamil Nadu. The company's most recent release, "Maaveeran," featuring Sivakarthikeyan, achieved significant success, earning Rs 50 crores worldwide in just five days, with Rs 34 crores coming from India alone. During the one-year hiatus in shooting Indian 2, unfortunate events occurred as both Vivek and Nedumudi Venu passed away. Therefore, he made the decision to incorporate Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI) to portray Vivek and Nedumudi in the movie. For Nedumudi Venu, a body double resembling him in physique and gait from the Malayalam film industry has been used. The actor is Nandu Poduval.

Walt Disney to sell Star India channels - Nayanthara role revealed and Kiara in Jawan

According to reports from the Wall Street Journal and Reuters, Jio Cinema's entry into the streaming market has compelled Disney + Hotstar to explore options such as sale or joint venture. Star India, a subsidiary of Disney, has reportedly incurred a loss of Rs 2000 crores due to Jio Cinema outbidding them for the IPL match telecast rights. Jio Cinema, a free app, streamed the matches for free and has now started offering new movies for free as well. Disney, which acquired the IPL rights until 2027 for $3 billion, is concerned about how to recover their investment. In 2011-12, Disney purchased UTV in a deal worth approximately Rs. 2,600 crore but subsequently closed down all business verticals, including the broadcast division. Star India, acquired by Disney from 21st Century Fox in 2019, was a key asset for Disney's expansion in the Indian television market. K Madhavan, the President of Walt Disney India operations and Star India TV channels, has a background in the banking industry. He played a pivotal role in the growth of the Malayalam channel Asianet and continues to serve as its Managing Director. He was later promoted to head the Star Channels South division and eventually became the country manager. Following Disney's acquisition of Star India, he assumed the position of President. Star India has 60 channels and in South it has Asianet ( Malayalam) Star Vijay ( Tamil) Suvarna ( Kannada) and Star Maa in Telugu. Asianet News and Suvarna News is owned by Rajeev Chandrasekar MP from Karnataka.

Following the preview of the film "Jawan" on the internet, new information has emerged. Kiara Advani will be featured in a special song with SRK, while Nayanthara will play SRK's love interest. Sometime back a song from Kamal Haasan film Vikram , which too was directed by Lokesh, ran into trouble for lyrics that ridiculed the Central Government. Now Naam Tamilar has joined the issue. PMK which had a running feud with Rajinikanth over smoking scenes in Baba , had objected to a poster of Vijay film Sarkar. Tamil Film Producers Council has asked members to not sign actors Simbhu, Vishal, S J Suryah, Yogi Babu and Atharva without getting prior permission. Council has asked these actors to approach the Nadigar Sangham and through them get a clearance. Lyca Productions has a payment balance issue with Vishal . The production house got an order stating that Vishal will clear pending amount of Rs 15 crores before his next release by his production house, The actor however now has signed an outside banner and continues to act as he has stopped making films under his own banner. The banner who signed Vishal is facing a trade blockage from Federation as they want the dues cleared befoe release. Simbhu has committedto act in Corona Kumar and later withdrew from it. The actor kept the advance for a full year and has no returned it. Producer Vels has lodged a complaint after Simbhu moved to Kamal Haasan production.
