Just having a Tamil Star in a film does not guarantee you a Kollywood box office  and in Telugu the presence of Nagarjuna got in the opening crowds . After Second Monday, film has sunk in Tollywood too. Director Shekhar Kammula’s latest film Kubera, starring Nagarjuna, Dhanush, and Rashmika Mandanna, recently hit theatres and made a strong impact at the Telugu box office. The emotionally driven film was released in multiple Indian languages, aiming for a pan-India reach. While the movie received a positive response in Telugu states, it struggled in Tamil Nadu despite Dhanush playing a lead role. The film failed to resonate with the Tamil audience, leading to a disappointing performance at the Kollywood box office. Reacting to this, director Shekhar Kammula said that the team needs to analyze why the film didn’t connect in Tamil Nadu. “We thought Dhanush’s presence and the story would easily appeal to the Tamil audience. But now, looking at the outcome, we need to introspect and understand where things went wrong,” he said. The team is now reflecting on the reasons behind the regional disconnect despite strong content and star power.

After Mahaveeryar the Nivin Pauly-  Asif Ali film , Shanvi Srivastava has signed another Malayalam film opposite  Tom Shine Chacko. The film is about narcotics world and Shanvi plays a negative character. In 2024, Srivastava made her Marathi film debut, with Raanti opposite Sharad Kelkar.

on Malayalam and Kannada Bigg Boss ; According to sources, Mohanlal would work on two more films before hosting the show. He is anticipated to provide a roughly 40-day timeline for the two of them, which would be shot in different parts of Kerala. One is Drishyam 3, and the other is reportedly Mahesh Narayanan's much awaited film, which also features Kunchacko Boban, Fahadh Faasil, and Mammootty. JioHotstar will be streaming Bigg Boss Malayalam around-the-clock, along with being broadcast on Asianet.  Set work is on in EVP Chennai and August is likely launch date.

In January, Kichcha Sudeep announced his decision to quit as the host of Bigg Boss Kannada after appearing in the reality TV show for 11 seasons. Now, the actor has reversed his decision, much to the delight of fans. He is set to host the 12th season of the Colors Kannada show and three more seasons, revealed its organisers.

The actor said that he had at least 10-12 meetings with the team to iron out any kinks and eventually, the only condition he had for them was about the start date. “They wanted it to start at a certain date, and I have requested them to push it ahead by 3-4 weeks, as I am committed to trying and ensuring that I have a film release in 2025. Billa Ranga Baashaa is ongoing and another project will be announced shortly,” he said.

Kichcha Sudeep has confirmed that he is currently working on three projects, which have sparked numerous speculations about his collaborations. The latest rumor in the entertainment industry suggests that the actor will be teaming up with the acclaimed Tamil director, Cheran, who has won a national award. Out of the three films he has announced, two are expected to be directed by Tamil filmmakers, namely KS Ravikumar and Cheran. Additionally, Sudeep is also involved in the making of Billa Ranga Baasha with Anup Bhandari, the director of Vikranth Rona, and a project with Nandakishore, the director of Ranna, is reportedly in the pipeline. It is worth mentioning that Sudeep made his directorial debut with My Autograph, which was a remake of Cheran's film, Autograph. A few years ago, during the audio launch of Mudinja Ivana Pudi (the Tamil dubbed version of Kotigobba-2), Cheran praised Sudeep and acknowledged his ability to replicate the commercial success of Autograph and Swathi Muthyam, and his accomplishments as both an actor and filmmaker. --------

Dil Raju, the distributor for both the Telugu dubbed version of PS 2 and straight Telugu film of Akhil's Agent in Nizam, appears to have shifted his focus towards Agent by allotting more screens and shows for it compared to PS 2. This trend is observed across different areas where the same distributor is handling the distribution for both films. The reason for this preference could be attributed to the lackluster performance of the first part of PS, which resulted in lower anticipation for the second part. In other regions as well, exhibitors seem to be more inclined towards Agent than PS 2. For instance, in the East Godavari district, Vintage Creations is distributing both films but still allocating more screens to Agent. -----

Vels Film International and Master Chef producers join hands - A solo Rajinikanth Diwali feast

 Vels Film International, leading film production house of Tamil films  is said to invested big money in the Innovative Film Academy , who are producers of Master Chef in Tamil with Vijay Sethupathi and Tammannah in Telugu  ( both  on Sun TV channels) and are producers of Kannada magnum opus film  Vikrant Rona starring Kiccha  Sudeep. ,  The Academy located  in outskirts of Bengaluru. Dr Ishari   Ganesh is expected to add the Academy to his Vels Group of educational institutions. Apart from this the campus is to be developed into a Film City equipped with latest equipment's. An Australian team is to set up an amusement theme park that will attract film lovers.

Vels Film International owned by Dr Ishari Ganesh is currently producing a film with Silambarasan and directed by Gautham Menon and move on to the next film Corona Kumar again with same hero to be directed by Gokul. The production company is also said to be funding education of many children whose parents are working in film industry and members of trade body FEFSI.

The Academy,  according to many, can become an alternative location to film makers who have only Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. Travelling time and connectivity to Bengaluru from Kerala - Tamil Nadu is excellent and climatic conditions very conducive as there is no extreme summer in the Garden city.

At the time of writing, Rajinikanth's Annatthe is likely to have a solo release for Diwali. STR's Maanaadu has pulled out citing lack of adequate screens and shifted to November end. Visha;'s Enemy the other release too has got only 160 screens/ This is not sufficient for a distributor to recover the investment. In all probability , it may be postponed. Tollywood’s leading distribution house- Asian Infra Estates LLP has obtained Telugu and Tamil rights of the movie for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Narayandas Narang and Suresh Babu are bringing the film to Telugu and Tamil audiences in Telugu states. Since the film is loaded with brother-sister sentiment, the makers have opted for title of Peddanna.
