Appani Sarath ( Angamaly Diaries, Malik) will essay the role of Madhu, the Adivasi youth who was publicly hanged by a mob in Kerala for stealing rice. The film will have actors speak in Muduga language spoken by Adivasi . The incident shocked the nation as the mob clicked selfies with the youth's body hanging and boasted of their deed. The film is directed by Vijeesh Mani who is known for making tribal language films, ‘Mmmmm’ (Kurumba) and ‘Netaji’ (Irula). ‘Aadhivaasi’ marks his reunion with producer Sohan Roy. His Aries Group of Companies is backing the film, which is set to go on floors on October 10 in Attapadi..
The sister of Madhu was waiting for her interview call letter when she was informed that her brother's body was in the morgue. Later a year after, she passed out of the Police Academy and joined the Kerala police. Kerala CM Pinrayi Vijayan had personally send a letter to her offering her the job that she had applied .The case got bogged down in red tapism as the court trying the SC/ ST cases had no judge and later it turned out that the appointment of special prosecutor too was delayed since it was seen as waste of manpower.
Sarath has acted in Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan, ( to be released). He had earlier acted in Mani's Chekka Chivantha vaanam. He also acted in Tamil web series Auto Shankar of Zee5 , He appears in the hit song Jimmiki Kamal in film Velipandinte Pusthakam as Franklin.
