Veteran actor Sivakumar on hearing the death of actor Srikanth penned his memories about his friend. He said that he had called on Srikanth on his 80th birthday and presented him with a painting and a coffee table book on Cinema. At that time Srikanth's wife Leelavathi, daughter Mira and husband Zach Alexander was present. Tracing the early days of Srikanth, Sivakumar said that " his friend who was working in the US Consulate started his career in K Balchander's plays. He took the name of the charachter Srikanth that he acted in the play Major Chandrakanth as his screen name. His real name was Venky. He sated out as hero in Vennarai Aadai as hero to Jayalalithaa as heroine.
Vaali who rose to be most in demand lyricist and Nagesh became King of comedy had during their early days of starvation and struggle were fed by Srikanth who prepared food himself and stayed in Mambalam Club House. Though, he could not sustain himself as a lead hero, he did many memorable role like in Sila Nerangil Sila Manithragal , Rajnagam etc. He acted with me in Madan Mallikai, Sittukuruvi, Ippidiyum oru penn, Annakili, Yaarkum vekamillai, Navagriham etc."
