The Priest ; Give it a Miss

The Priest is something that you can easily give a miss , even if you are a fan . It has nothing new to offer in the horror genre that it is slotted. The posters of Mammooty in a long overcoat- hat-long beard etc gives you the idea that something deadly is there. All those dark lighting, eerie sounds, close shots of frightened people, after one time make you laugh at the audacity of the director to think that you can be scared by this old tricks.

The Priest is an exorcist. He also helps the cops. A series of suicides in a family is cracked and pinned down to murder for gain with the help of the Priest. This leads to a girl who is possessed but nobody knows it but only  you and the Priest. Why is the girl protective of the teacher ?. To get the answer , investigation moves on slowly at snail pace and comes to an end when the Priest uses literally  a blower to blow away the ghost. In case you are looking for the great pairing up of  Megastar with Lady Superstar to give some scenes that  you can cherish- Forget it. Manju is the GHOST.

Nikila fits the bill as most of the time she has to look frightened . I thought T G Ravi had settled  abroad but he is back as the doctor. Many others have been included as it was lock down and work was rare.Whoever dubbed for Ameya the possessed girl has done a good job.

I was just getting out of a so called horror film Nenjum marupadatha illai directed by ace genius Selvaraghavan. The Priest is according to a YouTube guy ( comes with 5 videos a day on the film) has smashed all box office records within three days. He predicts a two week minimum run till ONE comes.

Luckily it did not come in OTT or else I would have to put my phone on silent mode. All that good impression and many congratulating me ( as symbol of Keralites film appreciation taste) after Drishyam 2 came would have come crashing.
