Compared to the last Friday releases, Kaveri fron Nadukaveri seems to have done better. In 7 day run it got Rs 57 cr net for a film of Rs 1 cr budget. As it garnered good media reviews, the OTT - TV rights might go for a better price and give producer a slight marginal profit or at least a no loss situation.
Sangathalaivan . produced by Vetri Maaran and directed by his assiciate Manimaaran is a flop in the theatrical release. The satellite and OTT rights might cover up the costs. Samudrakanni and Karunas playing factory union leaders, the film is an adaptation of Bharathinathan’s novel ‘Thariyudan. The films sans entertainment is too preachy and dry. Made at a cost of Rs 1 cr, in three days it has got Rs 22 Lakhs net.
‘Vettai Naai’ is a age old story of a loyal henchman of a evil boss, who turns over a new leaf for his love interest and the problems that he encounters. With no fresh treatment to this stale subject, the hero R K Suresh and `boss' Ramki do nothing to uplift it. Subhiksha who plays the love interest does give a good account, Budgeted ar Rs 1 cr, the film three day net collection was Rs 12 lakhs.
Calls featured VJ Chitra, a popular TV actress who committed suicide. Despite the media glare on this last film of Chitra, the film collected only net Rs 10 lakhs in three days. The presence of Chitra might get OTT - TV rights. Budget of the film is close to Rs 1 crore.
