Tughlak Durbar is a attempt to glorify the `Makkal Xelvan’ tag of Vijay Sethupathi and in the process it is a film which is neither political nor comic. Dikkilona of Santhanam attempts to see if sentiments- romance and
everything other than comedy would work and fails.
Makkal Selvan ( Darling of Masses) tag has to be put on screen. So spin a tale of yesteryear hit ` Amethi padai’ and then bring in a case of good and bad person inside the same body ( as hero is now a successful baddie too) and taking turns in changing characters. Only his pal Karunakaran and we know this.
Dikkilona
is something similar to Oh My Kaduvalu and difference is hero put in a time
machine and send back to set right a wrong he did in the past- his marriage.
This plot should have created a laugh riot. Instead you get a film that reminds
you of the family drama and romance of yesteryear era.. A few one liners are
thrown in. Probably Santhanam wanted to test whether the audience will accepthim
in a film with less comedy and more
family dramas- romance. Whatever was the motive- film makes you wish that
Santhanam was given a chance to correct his past – present and oncoming
mistakes.
