Easwaran review ; Low key film with robust STR and cute Nidhi

If you want to see a film which is not expected to revive Kollywood magic and create history as the biggest grosser film to release with Covid restrictions , then Easwaran is STR- Susitheeran Pongal outing is for you.Nobody is going to breach the 50% seating mark, this film has been drowned in the Master publicity blitz. It will attract only STR loyalists and they might go back wondering what is happening to their idol. Mannerisms, punch dialogues, double meaning ones and heroines being nothing but sex objects personified are missing . One dialogue pertains to reference to Asuran which interpreted as reference to Dhanush for his film by same name is the only one. Nidhi Agarwal as the village belle is not used for oomph factor, a new in STR film.

The director does not go into giving any strong characterization and goes into  story. STR is son of Periyasamy (Bharathiraja) but he stays in the house as a housekeeper and son of a friend. In comes the huge family of Periyasamy to visit him in his village as there is COVID outbreak in Chennai. STR love track with Nidhi, saving family from an old foe who comes out of jail and a plot by children to kill the family head is  the plot. Compared to STR films, a low key affair. Plus  point is that STR is very slim and fresh. You get the feel that STR is doing the film with his heart elsewhere.
