Mohanlal is said to have given the nod to Director Vijay Chandar who directed STR film Vaalu , Sketch with Vikram and Vijay Sethupathi film Sanga thamizhan. It is confirmed that Mohanlal is doing only a cameo in Mahesh Narayanan film with Mammooty- Fahad- Kunchacko – Nayanthara. He had only two days work in Sri Lanka schedule. The film completed work in Azerbhaijan and is now starting in Kochi. Both these portions do not have Lal and his screen time is only 20 minutes.

Kamal Haasan was given a narration of the Gentleman film’s subject by Shankar. Kamal backed out saying that he had played a Brahmin in the fil Micheal Madana Kamraj and was not keen to do a repeat. Shankar who revealed this said that first choice was Sarath Kumar but he did not have the dates. Kamal Haasan recalling the shooting of Mumbai express in digital format recalled that Director Singeetham Srinivasa Rao who came to the location was stunned as he felt that he was shooting a film with a video camera used for weddings. Rao was used to filming with five to six cameras in one shot. Kamal said that his RKFI office has the Panasonic camera that was used and kept as an exhibit.
