Abhirami revealed that while acting with Kamal Haasan in Virumandi, she asked him to give a recommendation letter to help her secure a seat in the US based Ohio College for a course in psychology and communication. Kamal refused to give the letter as he said that she was not right in quitting films and should continue. In the interview, she said that her decision to quit studies at high school level to join films was supported by her parents and also when she quit films at the peak of her career they stood by her. “ It was not an overnite decision but still I don’t know why I chose to quit and take up studies” she added.
