The Great Indian Kitchen ‘s Hindi remake Mrs. achieved ZEE5’s highest opening ever. It has clocked a cumulative of 400 million+ streaming minutes ever since its premiere. It is the best performing and highest grossing film on the platform, with sustained engagement even weeks after its release. The film has also been the most searched movie during its release window and continues to trend across social platforms. It also got a Google user rating of 4.6/5. The Malayalam original like Mrs was an OTT release and not on any big platform but on Neestream. Critical praise took it to Amazon. In fact Amazon had rejected the film as there was an episode of a woman going to Sabarimala, a controversial topic. After the rave reviews, Prime bought it and this took it to other languages. It was remade in Tamil by R Kannan with Aishwarya Rajesh and had a theatrical release. It bombed. This is available on Zee5. The Tamil version too carried the Sabarimala episode but Hindi did not. Their stance is so well put in terms of social evils and they've portrayed it beautifully. I knew exactly what kind of a film this version would be when I knew immediately who was going to play the lead. The Malayalam film with Nimisha Sajayan and Suraj in the lead picked up several State awards. The Hindi version was directed by woman Director Arati Kadav. Those who have seen the original had this question to ask -Why the female character played by Sanya is not as angry as the one in the original? She says that it is the difference when the subject is handled by a woman. Arati says, "When a man tells a woman's story, he is absorbing the reality from a distance. Jeo Baby is a sensitive man. He could write and tell the story effectively. But for me, there's no distance. I have to be in Richa's shoe in every scene of the film. Now there are reports that Dhanush film Idly Kadai will pull out from this date as he acts and directs it . The total India net collection of NEEK directed by Dhanush now comes to 5.67 crore*. The film is now inching towards 6 crores and end up as a theatre disaster. The opening was just about Rs 1.5 crore. The total losses of Vidamuyurchi is much higher than the Ajith’s s salary. Given that both are having a disaster history, does it matter , if they moves away from competition ? Dhanush Directorial NEEK in three days has crashed .. Why is ED going after Director Shankar in the copyright case filed over the Rajini's Enthiran 2.0 story ?. So far we have seen that ED has acted in most cases on political diktat. Whose toes has Shankar stepped on ?. Kamal Haasan Thug Life to break Kerala film strike/ Lal- Ajay Devgn in Drishyam 3

Kamal Haasan- Mani combo Thug Life is creating problems for the Producer Madras Talkies and RKFI as Kerala Filmdom shuts down on June 1 due to combined call by Producers- Exhibitors to get the Government nod for doing away with local Entertainment tax and reduction in Star wages. Film is releasing on June 5th. Kamal Haasan who started his career in Malayalam industry is considered by Malayali viewers as one of their own actors who went on from Kerala to Chennai and made it big. Fans of Mani as in any State are legion in Kerala. For exhibitors the film is a goldmine as crowds will throng the theatres. By all likelihood, film would have bought by Gokulam Gopalan for Kerala region. Gopalan had recently burned his fingers with some of the high-ticket non-Malayalam films that he distributed being duds. It looks like Kerala Government might scale down on ET and AMMA might get some top actors to announce a reduction of their salary and also to get OTT/ overseas rights along with film’s wages. On the brighter side the strike will be called off and Thug Life will release as planned. However, one section feels that the exhibitors who have two associations might drop out of the strike call, if Madras Talkies goes ahead with June 5th release date. One major reason for Madras Talkies to not do so is that Kerala is a big market and a sure hit market as the State has dedicated fans for Kamal and Mani. Secondly, to get back the damaged reputation after Indian 2, Kamal has to with Thug Life get it back Trade expects Rs 50 crore gross collection from Kerala. The final box office collection of Vikram in Kerala was ₹40.15 crore. This made it the highest-grossing Tamil film in Kerala. Indian 2 collected about ₹4.2 crore in Kerala over the first three days. This was despite the film's strong pre-sale numbers in the state.

The next aim for Kudumbasthan will be the fourth most profitable Tamil film of 2024 – Garudan, which registered a profit of 117.5%. Kudumbasthan needs to earn a total of 21.75 crore.The film is also an achievement for the director Rajeshwar Kalisamy who has made his directorial debut with the comedy drama. Interestingly this is the second successful film for the actor K Manikandan who also delivered a success in 2024 with Lover. The Tamil comedy-drama has been mounted on a budget of a reported 10 crore, and it has churned out 101% profit with a total collection of 20.1 crore. In fact, the film has also earned a hit verdict for itself.

The Kerala Film Producers Association leader Suresh Kumar says that the film’s budget so far is Rs 141 crores and Mohanlal the hero and Director’s Prithviraj salaries are not included. Film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor who is said to be Mohanlal’s alter ego and so Mohanlal salary could be the investment and probably Prithviraj too has joined in on profit sharing. Rest of the money is probably from Lyca and it was advertised as the company’s first foray into Mollywood. . Lyca cannot take the investment from Kerala alone and Empuran has to do something like KGF or Kantara. Antony was bitter over Suresh Kumar talking about the big risk that Empuran is taking. Suresh is childhood friend of Lal and has the distinction of being the Producer of his first film and sounded the clapboard for first shot featuring Lal maiden film. NTR Jr film starts next week - Mohanlal takes Thalapathy route / Ajith biggest Monday drop

After KGF and Kalki, finally NTR Jr and Prasanth Neel film is to begin next week. Production sources in Mythiri have confirmed this. Neel has Salaar 2 in hand and this will move according to Prabhas – Prithviraj dates. Post Devara, NTR Jr is on a high as it is a hit even in Hindi belt ( though not as big as Pushpa 2). The meeting between Neel and Ajith gave room for a possibility of them working together. Neet- NTR film is a standalone film. Last August, official announcement was made. Initially it seems that Rajputra the Producers were in talks to release it directly on OTT. As the film skipped the January 30th release date, many speculated that OTT deal was not confirmed. The idea to release directly on OTT and forego the theatre collection was mooted as Disney was willing to offer a good price. Thudarum is marketed as a family drama and as the pair Lal and Shobana appearing as middle class strata of people. It looked like the ones that the pair ‘s hit films in late nineties. Insiders say that Director Tharun of Saudi Vellkaakka has woven in a suspense drama in the family entertainer. Lal has given the Producers the confidence to take the theatre route and then go for OTT. Fans are hoping to see the vintage Lal and Shobana.
