Star Vijay anchor DD audio book on Kalki Krishnamoorthy's Saradhayin Thanthiram is a hit

Star Vijay  anchor DD ( short form for Dhivyadarshini) has moved to a field which is just an extension of her profession- narrating Kalki Krishnamoorthy's short story Saradhayin Thanthiram for Storytel. This audiobook is said to be reaching out the sections that usually are not interested in Kalki tales. One reason is that DD has a fan following in the urban youth of the State. Second is that Mani Ratnam is coming out with Kalki's Ponniyin Selvan.

Yet another aspect was the marketing. You have DD wearing a shirt designed by The Stitches that was embroidered with Mahakavi’s face to it. She added  her style to it as well and has become a hit among people,. Now Bharathi was not chosen just like that.. Poet Subramaniya Bharathiyar’s 100th death anniversary on September 12.

It was during the lockdown that DD realized that she  could enhance her narration skill and put it to use in an audio book. StoryTel was approached and they offered a choice of stories that she could pick. She chose this short story. Now the audio books are one hears when you are doing something else. The women while cooking in the kitchen or the male at the office . In short you do not have a captive audience. It has to be tempting enough to keep listening to it . It is here the DD narration skill came through and probably her art of engaging audience in a show.

Spending six months using a walker after being diagnosed with an autoimmune condition that DD decided that she wants to direct a cover version of the Malayalam song Mukkathe Penne from Prithviraj’s Ennu Ninte Moideen. Her friends gave all that was needed for the shoot and Nikhil Mathew sang it. In six hours she shot the entire video. Satyam  Videos picked it up. She credits Dr. Mariazeena Johnson, the VC of Sathyabhama University  who gave her this idea.
