Netrikann as a thriller offers nothing new by way of content. The only aspect that retains interest is that Nayanthara as the blind woman does a good job . The fear and insecurity are well emoted by her. Some scenes impact heightens just because of her expressions and body language. The film subject selection seems to be done with the idea to further enhance Nayanthara as a performer. From the audience point of view , it is nothing new .
There is a film Mrs serial killer directed by Farah Khan husband.. It has a similar plot but the gync doctor kills the victims while in Netrikann they are alive.. It has no blind woman who escapes being a victim and the doc going after her.The film begins to slide when the killer goes after the woman in a metro and then roams around .and screenplay slips into a pit when the killer kept in custody of a city police station located in heart of city gets away by killing the duty cop and goes in pursuit of the woman. The long drawn out climax at the house between the killer and the woman gets on you nerves. It looks like a Home Alone kind of hide and seek.
Ajmal character is stereotyped pyschyo with all the cranky looks- smiles and laughs. The friendly cop - helping delivery boy and even the agent who gets clients for abortion are quite out of the box. No body can complain - Nayanthara puts her money in a film that brings out the best out of her. If Milind Rau ( director) has changed the script of the Korean film in the name of suiting Indian taste, then he needs to be handled properly by Vignesh Shivn.
