Sarpatta Parambarai 2 m Varalaxmi as boxer

The makers of Sarpatta Parambarai have announced that the film's sequel, titled Sarpatta Round 2, is in the works. The announcement was made on social media by actor Arya, who shared a poster featuring the title logo and hinted that the second part of the film is coming soon. Jatin Sethi of Naad Sstudios will be backing the upcoming sequel, which Ranjith will direct. Ranjith expressed his excitement about the sequel and noted that the fans of the series will be in for a treat as they’ll get to see it in cinemas. The first instalment was released in 2021 and revolved around a clash between two boxing clans.

Kannitheevu, directed by Sundar Balu, will not have a theatrical release and instead will premiere on Colours Tamil on March 8, which is Women's Day. The movie features Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Aishwarya Dutta, Subhiksha Krishnan, and Ashna Zaveri in lead roles. Sundar Balu describes the film's plot as starting with three women from North Madras who protest an issue in their area. The protest initially brings them recognition, but it eventually results in trouble when a negative character, affected by their protest, seeks revenge. The rest of the story revolves around how these women escape from him. According to Sundar, Kannitheevu incorporates a range of elements, including adventure, action, drama, and thriller. The trailer shows Varalaxmi playing the role of a boxer, which Sundar explains is to portray her character as a bold and brave person who can handle any situation. Sundar also wanted to do a gender-reversal with Kannitheevu and make the heroines perform all that a conventional hero would do. In his previous film, Garjanai, Trisha does all the action, and he wanted to continue the same trend with Kannitheevu.
