Watch Kannappa with zero expectations. If you can survive the first half and first 30 mins of the second, the last hour rewards your patience with emotion, devotion, and performances that finally click. Prabhas fans will be happy, Vishnu redeems himself in the climax—but the journey to get there is rough. Strictly for the powerful final act, cameos of Prabhas & Mohanlal, and Vishnu's surprising transformation in the last hour. Not a disaster for sure but just an average grosser
- Cameos Work Well: Mohanlal gives a bang-on interval appearance as Kiraata. Akshay Kumar is dignified as Lord Shiva—his dialogues in the climax are well-written. Mohan Babu as Mahadevayya is pitch-perfect.
- Music & BGM: Stephen Devassy’s “Shiva Shiva Shankara” and background score during the final 40 mins uplift the movie, enhancing the devotional impact.
Negatives
- First Half is Meme Gold: Overstuffed, draggy, and trying too hard to be an action epic. Easily 30 mins could have been trimmed.
- Production Design Misfire: New Zealand landscapes with snowy peaks for a story set near Sri Kalahasti? Totally misplaced. Green screen usage may feel excessive and costly but this is not alternative
- Unnecessary Romance & Glamour: Songs and glamour shots of the heroine add no value. It's time to move past outdated commercial templates.
- Supporting Cast Falters: From over-the-top villains to flat performances by Sarathkumar, Madhubala, Sivabalaji, Raghu Babu—none leave an impression. Even Brahmanandam and Saptagiri’s comedy falls flat.
- Weak First Half: Painfully slow and barely watchable till the interval bang.
- Technical Issues: Sloppy editing, poorly choreographed fights, and forgettable songs (except Shiva Shiva) plague the first half.
