AJITH KUMAR BACK to SHOOT / DUDE SUPER COOL DIWALI
AK has completed his first season in the racing circuit and right now will be concentrating in AK64. Unlike his previous projects, this is gonna be a quickie film and will release for summer 2026. This film will be a mass action entertainer but unlike GBU it won't be like a fan service film. It will be a proper commercial flick with AK elements like Aarambam. Romeo Pictures will be the producers and Anirudh will compose the music.
And we can expect a clash between Karuppu and AK64 in Tamil New Year 2026.
Dude starring Pradeep Ranganathan, Mamitha Baiju released with huge anticipation and buzz, yesterday. The movie got critical acclaim and audiences positive word of mouth for its super cool, bold and Gen-Z style narrative.nPR has this new found image of local boy feeling and he has got tremendous relatibikity with soup boys or locals But like Love today and Dragon this once again is heavy on entertainment with melodramatic second half especially climax. Dejavu feels will come with respect to many scenes in Love today and Dragon.
n North America, the movie grossed an impressive US$300K+ on its opening day. Rising above the competition, Dude has become the big Diwali Winner with the opening day collections, itself. The first day collections are double from his previous films in every area, becoming biggest opening in Pradeep Ranganathan’s career. Music by Sai Abhyankkar, performances of Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju are being praised heavily by the audiences. Mainly, stylish looks and swaggy antics of the main man, have connected well with audiences. With youth and family entertainment elements blended in perfect balance, director Keerthiswaran is being praised for his vision and stylish frames. Overall, Dude is set to create a box office storm in coming days, for Diwali weekend, predict Trade Analysts.
The storyline follows a predictable pathway, in the sense that whatever we want the characters to get pushed to, the story tailor-makes its situations, taking our “requests” to an extremely enjoyable point. The film does shock countless times, but to build the core subject: the unrequited love theme, raw unpredictability should’ve taken the steering wheel, instead of inducing the feeling: “This just appears to be the fate of Aravind, let’s see how this plays out.”
The character arcs, while colorfully introduced, depicted, and stretched out, weren’t quite able to reach the finish line, in terms of wrapping these lovable roles aptly and timingly pushing them in the final arc.
Let’s take the lead protagonist, played by Pradeep Ranganathan. He was great in portraying this strikingly relatable character, but his purpose wasn’t completely staged. We see visually how much he loves the character of Kural, but the screenplay didn’t take enough time to strengthen this from the beginning to make his journey ruthlessly painful. I definitely felt for Aravind but wasn’t fully pulled into it.
Mamitha Baiju’s character is one of genuine kindness and purpose, and it does emotionally connect. But during the latter half, she loses that extraordinary passion and instead becomes a strong woman who is sorry for what is happening around her—not the same person who breaks boundaries for a close one’s issues.
The character of Sarath Kumar could’ve been handled symbolically stronger in the latter half, rather than being just the mighty hurdle he is to their lives. We are introduced to honor killing through him and a past he prefers to keep quiet about—but beyond these establishments, it doesn’t take off when needed and feels one-dimensional in the end.
Paari wasn’t given enough importance, despite his cruciality to the subject. Also, there’s a second love interest introduced early in the film. Though the writing tries to give her purpose
