Update : Santhanam's Biskoth ,Mahesh Babu's Sarileru Neekevvaru dubbed film and Adult sex comedy for Deepavali release in TamilNadu theater - Qube fees withdrawn

R Kannan directed Santhanam starrer Biskoth , Mahesh Babu- Kajal- Vijayshanthi Sarileru Neekevvaru duubed Tamil version will release on Deepavali in Tamil Nadu theaters. Distributors RockFort Entertainment Muruganandan has confirmed that sequel to Irutu Araiyil Murattu Kuthu titled Irandam Kuthu will hit on Diwali. In English it means second poke will be releasing on November 14 as first film post Lockdown in theaters. . Meanwhile Producers lobby led by Bharathiraaja has stuck to the demand that VPF be abolished to which  Qube has agreed for a nil fee tiil December end. Producers are planning to release the biggies in mid January for Pongal. Before that they wanted the issue settled. Even the groups contesting the recognised Tamil Film Producers Council elections are canvassing on the poll plank that VPF will be abolished, if elected.

First part of the adult sex comedy- horror movie ,made at a shoestring and shooting combined with another film in Thailand,  was a bumper hit. Theaters were mighty pleased. The hero Gautham Karthik, son of veteran actor Karthik, received flak. The producer who belongs to Suriya camp too faced brickbats. The two heroines- Yashika Aanand continued with her skin show mostly on Instagram as there was a lockdown and Vaibhav Sandilya has not been heard after this hit.

Now the director Santosh decided that it does not matter who plays the lead. He took up the job of playing the lead. He got two Mumbai girls -Karishma and Akiriti and headed for Philippines. The first part title translated in English means `Wild ( or rough) poke in a dark room’. Now it is `Second poke ( also jab)’. The poster tells it all. It is an adult sex comedy loaded with double meaning dialogues and a voyeuristic camera stuff and in the first part a horror angle too was thrown in. Now that those from Class X onwards have been given permission to visit campus to clear doubts, most of them will be seen in the theaters. Yet another plus for Chennai theaters is that the Marina beach has been locked out and now theaters will be the haven for young lovers.

Kerala exhibitors want ET waived along with fixed current charges and building taxes. Producers want actors to cut salaries by at least 25%. A few small budget films that did not match the OTT criteria are waiting to release. The magnum opus Marakkar of Mohanlal will take a shot at box office by Christmas.

In Andhra, the scenario is no different and they have no new Telugu films of any big name and hope that the Hindi - English films will keep them going till normalcy comes about. In Karnataka, the situation is better as some Kannada films that were released just before lockdown had a good response and it will be re-released. Here again it is the Hindi- English films that keep the theaters in Karnataka going.

According to Mumbai sources, there is `Sooryavanshi’ of Akshay Kumar- Devgn which is a cop story series from Rohit Shetty. Other is the film on India winning the Cricket World Cup titled `83 ‘with Ranveer Shorey. as the lead. Akshay's OTT film `Lakshmi Bomb’ releases on November 9th. It means that Sooryavanshi will get only two weeks run and with only 50% occupancy. As IPL is on should 83, a Cricket sports film get released and will it get audience is yet another worry.

The first Hollywood film ready to release is Tenet. This according to trade will be a dud in theaters that are not multiplexes and will score big on IMAX screens. The story line is confusing and only point that it will keep audience glued is the visuals and technical wizardry. Next in line is Death of Nile due on October 23. It is a second in Branagh’s Hercule Poirot series, preceded by Murder on the Orient Express. But in November ,Daniel Craig’s final outing as James Bond in No Time to Die is coming.

It looks like that the theaters reopening has only opened a new set of issues.
