Bigg Boss 8 Tamil contestant Ranjith got his private parts stomped over by Dharsha Gupta in a task. Many women contestants were badly mauled badly by the men as part of the game. It has led to a debate of whether an unequal physical competition between men and women and without any rules or a safety gear can be allowed on public TV. Many point out that even WWF does not have a fight between men and women regularly as it an era of PG rating. Meanwhile Suriya is to shoot for Unstoppable with NBK ( Balakrishna) tomorrow ( October 24^th) that will be telecast on November 1^st. It is part of Kanguva promotion. On October 25^th, first episode of Season 4 starts with AP CM Chandrababu Naidu. It comes on Aha Telugu.

Divya Sridhar ex wife of Arnav the contestant who got expelled last weekend posted a video in which she is carrying her child in her arms and saying a dialogue from a film – Do you thin we women should keep on getting slapped and then hits back at camera. Arnav haters have promised to send Anshitha the GF of Arnav who is nominated this week  , out of the show.

Diwali 2024 Kollywood sees a clash of four heroes. As far as Tamil box office is considered, the first pick should be Amaran . The film was ready for release long back but it avoided c;ash with Devara and later GOAT. Finally in the Telugu market, for Diwali, there is no big threat to Dulquar. Though a Telugu film, Dulquar does have a big fan following in Tamil Nadu and without doubt the Kerala fans are waiting to see him. His last Malayalam release King Of Kotha was not a loss to him as a Producer but it gave him lot of negative comments. Lucky Bhaskar is set in 1980’s and in a Mumbai backdrop of Dalal street and financial deals. Music is by GVP.

For the OTT viewers there is three releases in and around Diwali and belongs to almost same genre – content driven. Top among them is Lubber Pandhu a sports drama and had a surprisingly good run at box office, Meyiazhagan with Karthi and Aravind swami and coming from 96 Director and Thangalaan which has Vikram and Pa Ranjith as director. It did not create any big fizz but OTT viewers might just like it.

Sundar Pichai in TVK meet - Atlee meets Kamal in USA - Dhanush in Jailer 2 - Aamir- Suriya to join

Suriya kickstarted his Kanguva promotion at a college in Delhi. He is keen to make a big splash in North belt and Producer Gananvel has opened an office in Mumbai. Now Suriya confirms that Ghajini 2 is confirmed and that ARM who directs it has also tied up with Aamir for the Hindi sequel. Suriya has not ruled out the possibility of him coming in a cameo with Aamir and vice versa. Kanguva audio release is in Chennai on October 26^th- Nehru Stadium.

It seems that Jailor 2 launch could be the venue where Dhanush and his wife Aishwarya Rajinikanth could turn up in public to show that they are back as hubby and wife. It will also signal Dhanush playing a role in the Jailor 2 with Pa in Law Rajinikanth. Dhanush was spotted watching Vettaiyan with kids on opening day. Is Rajinikanth and Venkat Prabhu to collaborate for a film produced by Lyca Productions ?. The buzz is that Vettaiyan was to wipe out the losses that Lyca suffered from early ventures with the Actor, but it has only managed to recover the costs and nothing more. One version is that Rajinikanth has offered to do a film for Lyca and the choice is Venkat Prabhu as the Producers feel that GOAT success can be repeated with Thalaivar. Thalaivar saw GOAT and called Venkat and appreciated him. Venkat in reply posted - Thank you, Thalaivaaaa!! for the call and for embracing our #GOAT with so much love. Rajinikanth is now working with Lokesh considered a Vijay Director and earlier Nelson who directed Jailer is also a Vijay camp Director.

So far according to exhibitors in the South, Kalki and Devara from Tollywood saved them and from Kollywood it was GOAT that gave Rs 250 crore collection within the State.

Vettaiyan gross ! week is Rs 85 crores in Tamil Nadu. Total gross within India including other languages is Rs 122.15 crore. The overseas collection is around Rs 73 crores claims production. The total budget is Rs 250 crores and with other digital rights, the company will just about scrape through. Till Diwali, there is no great big film and so a few crores will be added

OTT Platforms have learnt that theatre reactions and critics reviews are far away from the audience that they cater . Two films Kootukali and Vaazhai the two Tamil films that are streaming on OTT is a case point. These two films had garner good reviews and Theatre revenues for Kootukali was very poor and got Rs 1 crore in the weekend. Vaazhai on the other hand got good theatre response and got Rs 15 crore gross and the film was made at Rs 12 crore and from Disney Hotstar it got back the total investment.

From the viewers the response was so bad that the OTT platforms are having second thoughts on buying such films. The viewers unanimously termed these films as over rated by critics and too slow and boring.

Take case of Lubber Pandhu. Theatre collection is Rs 35 crore for a Rs 5 crore film and OTT has gone for a Rs 15 crore. Will this also be slammed by OTT viewers ?. The price fixed for such non commercial films that do reasonably well at theatres is now to take a second look as OTT has realised that their audience ( majority) is not driven by critics and that after the initial niche audience, these films have no viewers

Extramarital affair inside BB Tamil house - low TRP - court case - Host under threat

 

Trouble in BiggBoss House in Chennai- Bengaluru and Mumbai. In Chennai, the TRP is just 6 points and that is too lower than that of a weak daily soap in Star Vijay.  Outside a contestant’s wife is spitting venom on BB for encouraging extra martial affair. In Mumbai, Host Salman Khan is under threat from Bishnoi gang and so will he make it for the shoot ? In Bengaluru, a legal notice demands stopping of show as it compromises privacy of women contestants. Host Sudeep has announced his quitting the show after the current one.

Outside BiggBoss Tamil 8 house, there is wife of Arnav a contestant saying that her hubby is with Anishitha another TV actress in the house to strengthen their illicit relationship that happened outside the house. Both the actors acted together in a serial ( Chellamma) and wife has put out voice call tapes that show the actors were in a relationship. Inside the House they are avoiding each other and more so by Arnav. In BB awards task, Arnav nominated Anishitha for being a Yes person in the house and this led to a big face off. Is it Real ?. Anshitha has acted in Malayalam serials like Koodevide in Asianet. Arnav wife Divya also acted in serial Chellamma and she claims that her pregnancy was aborted by her hubby.

Meanwhile Arun Prasad another contestant is said to be in love with last year BB winner Archana. The winner is said to have kept the affair a secret but housemates seem to be aware of it. As per voting figures, Arnav and Darsha are at last places. The fights are not picking up like last year. Last year it started gaining momentum from Day one.

In Kannada the comments say that BB is boiled down to fights and it is not what they want. As we are not  Kannada BB watchers, we cannot understand what the BB shows were like in previous years and were they full of message giving speeches and goody goody babes and guys in it ? Now the lawyer in his notice to BB Kannada says  that women contestants kept in a prison like set as part of a task Heaven and Hell suffered privacy violation and human rights violation. Based on the case, police has asked for unedited footage. Lawyer wants total stoppage. The application was filed under the Code of Business Procedure Order 39 rules 1 and 2 with section 151. ..

Tamil iconic Director Bharathiraja for the first time is to act in a Malayalam film and that with Mohanlal as the hero. Director Shankar's comeback ! Amazon buys Game Changer for Rs 50 cr

  Game Changer literally  is what has happened to Director Shankar. This Ram Charan film has been bought for Rs 50 crores by Amazon Prime, says trade. This is the highest amount that a Ram Charan film has been sold for. Given that Ram Charan track record as an actor at the box office is excellent , it may not be any great shakes to the actor but for Shankar, it is a biggest  shot in the arm. Apart from this, Game Changer is releasing for Pongal in January 2025 and as Chiranjeevi and other major Telugu films have moved away from this date, the clean unopposed run at box office is assured. In fact it is expected to run better than Devara, Similarly, the North Indian box office has no major opposition on this dates.

Look at the scenario. The film Indian 2 has bombed badly and so badly that media reports say that the third part is going for an OTT release and skipping theatre. The reports put the blame on Shankar for taking a second part that had no link to the first part and then using the remain portions for a third part. This was seen as a bad move to  squeeze in a second part that was not needed and put in the entire project in doldrums. Shankar's direction came into attack as it was seen as outdated and archaic.

Shankar has never faced such harsh backlash in his life. It started with his dispute with Producers Lyca and Vadivelu. After much dilly dallying, it was solved. The second sequel bombed box office and content wise. Music wise and in terms of visuals , the song sequences were a damp squib. In short it missed the Shankar trade mark. Game Changer came under a cloud. Now all that has moved away.
