Is Mohanlal a Sangh Parivar guy ? Salaar to pull out of PVR cinemas

Will Mohanlal attend the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla on January 24 in Ayodhya ?. This is the most raging topic after media reported that the actor and Mata Amritanandamayi were invitees to the Ram temple innaguration. Rajinikanth, Dhanush and Chiranjeevi names figure from the South film celebs on invitee list. In none of these States there is no resistance to these actors attending the event. But in Kerala, this is a big topic. Those in the view that Lal should not attend points out that he is a Star with a fan following that has people from all religions and if he attends it, it would alienate minorities and also show that he is a Sanghi ( pet name for RSS worker). Others say that as an individual, he can attend any function and by just attending this function does not make him a Sangh Parivar member. Even if he declines due to personal reasons, it cannot be seen as disapproval of Sangh Parivar is another point. Rajinikanth post Jailer went on a spiritual journey across North India including UP. Here he touched the feet of CM Yogi Adithynath and got photographed with a BJP MLA with a criminal background. Though there were criticisms, nothing much happened. The surprise package is that Dhanush has found a place in the invitee list. Mohanla Neru released today and facing Dunki and Salaar for eyeballs is now overshadowed by Ram Janamabhoomi controversy.

Salaar Hindi version has got less screens than Dunki in North India and especially in PVR Chains of theatres. This is seen as method to boost Dunki and pull down Salaar in North. In retaliation, Salaar makers have threatened to not screen in any PVT theatres in South. Yet there is another reason and that is PVR CEO has sung a song in Dunki and so the favoritism. Now PVR has agreed to renegotiate screens as it realizes that Salaar advance bookings are record breakers in the South. Ironically, Tollywood is quiet as it feels that Salaar frequent cancellation of release dates affected business of many medium films.

Dhanush Captain Miller most affected in Pongal release

Three Tamil films releasing for Pongal 2024 will hardly get ant theatres in two Telugu speaking States as five Telugu films starting with Mahesh Babu to Ravi Teja are releasing for sure. Out of the three Tamil films, the biggest loser will be Captain Miller of Dhanush, if it does not get a proper release in neighboring States. Dhanush Tamil – Telugu film Vaathi/ Sir released in both States did extremely well in Ap/ TS and first week grossed Rs 67 crore and in fact it was in second week that Tamil version broke even. Seeing this Shekar Kamula has booked him for a bilingual. Captain Miller loaded with action would be perfect film for AP/ Ts audience. By releasing for Pongal, it could get submerged in the big Telugu Star films. Ayalaan of Sivakarthikeyan too has some audience in AP/ TS. Though his bilingual with Jathi Ratanalu director Anudeep was a dud in Both languages, Siva dubbed for Telugu version titled Prince. He is ken to expand his market. The third Lal Salaam has Rajini in a cameo and after Jailor being the biggest box office hit of 2023 for a non Telugu hero in Tollywood, if released alone, it could have a decent opening. Vishnu Vishal one of the leads too has a ok draw in AP/ TS. Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram, Venkatesh’s Saindhav, and Teja Sajja’s Hanuman are the prominent films in the race, while Raviteja’s Eagle ‌ and Nagarjuna’s Naa Saami Ranga are also likely to join the race.

Dunki is full of violence like Animal - British Censors - Superstardom a waste - Parvathy Thiruvothu

Dunki of SRK- Hirani combo is not a soft romantic film sprinkled with comedy and that feel so good moment. According to British Film Censor Certification Board the certificate says – it has solid violence, sexual threats (women abusing scenes), horror, suicide, adult comedy, and drugs. This is a shocker to all of us who saw the promotional content. The Indian censor has granted it U/A certificate and the Dunki makers were happy as Salaar releasing on same day got A certificate. Few days back British Censor gave Salaar A certificate and the reasons given were almost similar to What Animal got the adult certificate. Now that Dunki is nothing short of Salaar in terms of bloodshed and violence towards woman, the question is how will the family audiences react to Dunki after being brainwashed through promo songs and teaser that projected it as family entertainer ?. Salaar is first film in career of Prabhas that got an adult certificate. Salaar team is not worried as Animal got a thumping box office success. Parvathy Thiruvothu whose Thangalaan starring Vikram is readying for release has kicked up a controversy. In an interview to a Malayalam FM channel, when asked about Superstardom , she said that she does not understand what it means. “ is it the influence or is it something that a fan gone mad on hero worship has given ?. Superstardom does not give anything. Who has benefited from it ? It is a sheer waste of time ,” . Mad craze for Salaar and Prithviraj in Kerala - Karthik to direct Vijay- Thangalaan postponed

In another latest buzz that is trending in Kollywood is that Karthik Subburaj and Thalapathy Vijay are joing hands for a film produced by Sun Pictures. Karthik has narrated a storyline for Vijay and it has got a nod. In all probability, it will be Vijay’s next outing after Venkat Prabhu film. Karthik outing with Vijay will be the third with a Superstar. He directed Rajinikanth in Petta and Vikram in Maahan. Recently the sequel to Jigarthada had an above average run.

Thangalaan starring Vikram and directed by Pa Ranjith is skipping the January 26th date and the reason is not because the CG work is not perfect or monetary reasons. Studio Green Gananavel and Pa Ranjith who is co- producer through his Neelam Productions have decided that the film has the potential to score big at major Internatinal film festivals. Many International festivals will accept entries if the film has been released in theatres. Idea is that after winning awards at Film festivals, the film will get a Pan Indian audience and then release. Chiyaan Vikram in the lead role along with Malavika Mohanan, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Pasupathy, Daniel Caltagirone, and others who play prominent characters in the movie have given their best performances and strained hard enough. Makers feel that the film deserves to be seen on an International platforms.

Kerala Box Office is witnessing a Royal clash of Titans on December 21. Mohanlal – Director Jeethu Joseph combo that gave Drishyam and the sequel are coming with Neru. Lal and Joseph have appeared in all leading TV channels and YouTube channels to promote the film. On the other side, Salaar is working big in advance bookings in Kerala. It has collected Rs 1 crore in advance bookings and it is highest for a non Malayalam film and that too with a Malayalam Superstar film as competition. Brand Prithviraj is working big in Kerala as he plays the antagonist in Salaar and the hero Prabhaas comes n close to interval. This film will propel Prithviraj big in other languages and mainly in Tollywood. RRR opened in Kerala with Rs 4 crore and Salaar with Rs 1 crore itself on advance booking opening itself will exceed RRR opening in Kerala. Prithviraj did his first Telugu film Police Police and it was ten years back. Prithviraj revealed that his directorial film Empuran the sequel to Lucifer with Mohanlal would wrap up by June next year. He said that after his accident in June this year, Doctors told him to take a whole year rest and then only do action scenes. Speaking about injuries, Prabhas who recently underwent a knee surgery in Spain has been told by Doctors to not travel for some time. Thalaivar 171 directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj is facing a major hitch as a particular role that is very vital but not a full length one needs some with a Stardom. Initially Mammooty was the choice but now it turns out that the Mega Star did not figure in the list. Lokesh is looking for a Star who has not paired with Rajinikanth so far . Mammooty said that maybe Lokesh might be toying with the idea to cast him but so far no one has approached him. He added that if there is a suitable role then he would accept. The recent buzz is that Lokesh called on SRK. Since SRK has done cameos before, he should be interested. SRK said no for two reasons. One was that he had decided not to do cameos. Latest buzz in Kollywood is that Indian 2 and Ganguva that were to come in January 2024 has shifted to August – September. Reason being that CG works are not going to be ready by then and some that has been done has gone back for correction. These film aimed for Pongal and Republic Day holidays. Now they are looking towards Independence Day and Ganesh festival. Ganguva is Suriya’s first attempt at a Pan Indian release and Gananvel Raja of Studio Green with Andhra based UV Creations are the producers. From Bollywoos there is Disha Patani and Bobby Deol.

The loan was not as advance to buy ARS but as what is called hand loan. We learn that Ambika had inutroduced Arjun to Prasad. Prasad said that he has confidence that FEFSI and Tamil Film Producers Council will do the needful and get justice for him.Now when the re-payment issue came up, Ambika has reportedly said that she has nothing to do with the finances of her brother. It is ironical that Radha who spent Rs 6 crore for her daughter wedding in Thiruvanthapuram and as per media reports gave 500 Kg gold and Rolls Royce to bridegroom, has not bothered to clear the debt of a measly Rs 6 lakh of her brother. Talking to FEFSI office bearers, they say that Prasad has always settled disputes of Tamil film industry in their favour during his tenure as South India Film Chamber President and secretary. Due to this, the union has asked all members to not report for any shootings in ARS studio. It has come into effect for past one month. Mohan Natarajan who signed Illena and gave Rs 40 lakhs as advance had moved the Chamber as she was not honoring her dates. Prasad issued an ultimatum that no South Producer should sign till Illena returns the money. She lost atleast two Tamil films and a Telugu film. Prasad in the Chamber seat had made it a practice to settle any dispute within 30 days. Krithi Shetty has signed a biggie opposite Pradeep Ranganathan as hero and Vignesh Shivan as Director. The film is bankrolled by Seven Screen Studio of Leo fame. Though her Telugu film Uppena was a hit, later films bombed. Now Kollywood is giving her big offers. Earlier she signed a film with Jeyam Ravi and it is a Pan Indian film. She has Karthi film Vaa Vathiyare. Tovino Thomas Malayalam Pan Indian film is also in her kitty. It is titled Ajayante Randam Moshanam.

Ambika - Radha Studio banned by Film bodies ; Details Inside

Ambika – Radha – Sarasamma (ARS) Garden , the studio complex in Chennai is facing an unwritten ban put out by Film trade body FEFSI and Producers Council. The studio owned by the two actress is located in Valsaravakkam, a suburb in Chennai. The reason for the ban is that Arjun, brother of the two actress had taken money from top Producer Kattragadda Prasad by giving the studio as surety. Prasad is not just a Producer but also former South India Film Chamber President and a big force in film trade circles. Now reports say that Arjun has started playing truant by not returning the money nor handing over the land. Small budget films and TV serials use this studio for readymade houses, police stations, court etc. It is not known if Chinna Thirai Union is part of ban but FEFSI has said that till Prasad gets his money back, no member should work in ARS Garden location. Recently Radha conducted her daughter Karttttttta’s wedding in Trivandrum and gave 500 kgs of gold and a Rolls Royce to the bridegroom. Suresh another brother of the actress duo had worked with Ambika in her directorial debut.’

A veteran film journalist on condition of anonymity said that Emeritus Professor Tetsuo Kanno , leading neuro surgeon from Tokyo was flow down from Singapore to Chennai to treat MGR who fell unconscious. At that time there was no direct flight to Tokyo. One has to go to Singapore from Tokyo to catch a flight to Chennai. However the hitch was that the flight from Singapore to Chennai departed before Tokyo flight arrived.

RM Veerappan them Minister in MGR Cabinet asked then PM Indira Gandhi to delay the Air India flight from Singapore to enable Emeritus Professor Tetsuo Kanno to come to Chennai.
