Thug Life : Release Date only after Post Production ; Vettaiyan BEATS G O A T !

 Thug Life teaser for Kamal Haasan fans on November 7th is sure but release date is not sure. After getting feedback from many technical teams, it has been decided that there should be no hurry in completing the post production work and only after perfection should a date be fixed. In recent times, many big films to keep to release date , had hurried VFX and CG work and got brickbats. Even in Vettaiyan, there was technical flaws and some were evident in the fight sequences. Kannada film Martin released Friday suffered as the post production work was bad. So the talk about the Thug Life releasing for January 2025 is not sure. It could be in April too says our trackers.

Meanwhile Mythiri Movie Makers the Producer of Good Bad and Ugly and Pushpa 2 has got a Bollywood Production company as partner and that is Bhushan Kumar's T series. All undergoing and upcoming projects are to be jointly produced by these two companies.

Dhruv Sarja's Martin produced at Rs 100 crores has crashed badly and shocked Kannada filmdom. The Producers have send legal notices to those YouTubers who gave bad reviews by citing copyright violation for using movie stills and posters that were put out by the production company. YouTube on getting this notices have put these sites under suspension. This technique was used in Kerala to counter negative criticism against a Mammootty film. The technique might spread to Tamil and Blue Sattai and others need to be careful in using publicity material from the Production company.

The title Vettaiyan beats GOAT will look like we are hardcore Rajini fans. However it is true. Where ?. In neighboring Kerala and two Telugu States. Yes. GOAT life time run in Kerala was Rs 13.5 crores. It gave the distributor a loss of Rs 20 crores. Vettaiyan in four days collected Rs 14 crores. In Andhra and TS, Vettaiyan first day was Rs 5.70 crores and GOAT was Rs 4.17 crore. Four days it collected Rs 13 crores. GOAT life time run in two Telugu States was Rs 13 crores.

Kanguva Producer takes a swipe at Vettaiyan 's Producer : More updates

 In what looks like a swipe at Sun Pictures, K E Gananavel of Studio Green and  Producer of Suriya's Kanguva, in a reply to a query on a  Q&A session on X said that by just naming the big names on the official handle does not guarantee a grand opening for the film. The question was why the Producer is not coming out with the big actors who are in the cast as many names are bandied about in social handles. This dig was obviously aimed at Vattaiyan which released on October10th.

Vettaiyan had collected Rs 26 crores om opening day in Tamil Nadu and this is no great shakes for a Rajinikanth film. It had Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh faasil and Rana Daggubatti in the cast. Rajini's  previous film Jailer which had big names like Mohanlal and Shivaraj Kumar too opened at a similar numbers.  Gananvel was in an indirect manner implying that despite having Stars from other language industries, the film opening was not dependent on it. In short, the opening banked on the hero's box office pulling capacity. In Kanguva , it meas Suriya. This is the second dig on a Rajinikanth film from the Suriya camp. Earlier G. Dhananjayan from same camp compared the GOAT opening collection to Petta lifetime collections. Meanwhile Studio Green has opened a Mumbai office and Kalaipuli Thanu visited it.

Businesswise, Kanguva has tied up with Pen Movies for North India, Abi and Abi Pictures for Tamil Nadu, PharsFilmco LLC for overseas, Sree Gokulam movies for Kerala, UV creations and Mythiri ( Nizam). updates:

Rajinikanth - Aamir Khan to shoot on October 15th for COOLIE

Now it seems Aamir Khan is joining him for the Chennai schedule . It was a rumour in August and it came after Lokesh met Aamir in Mumbai. But now Mumbai portals and Peepingtom reports this. Aamir and Rajini acted thirty years back in a film Aatank hi Aatank and it bombed. In the film ‘Aatank Hi Aatank’, Aamir played Michael Corleone in Bollywood’s version of ‘The Godfather’. He said - “After the release of this film, I was shocked. I felt like I shouldn’t have done the film. No sooner did I watch the film did I realize that I have really done a very bad job. I chose some not-so-good roles at the beginning of my career.”, In fact AGS Boss Archana posted a pix with Aamir last year. It led to a speculation that Aamir was approached for the Thalapathy movie GOAT or Thani Oruvan 2 ( to reprise role played by Aravind Swami).

 

IT'S CONFIRMED. Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and Tamil cinema legend Rajinikanth are set to reunite on screen, nearly three decades after their forgettable collaboration on The Godfather-inspired crime thriller, Aatank Hi Aatank (1995). Aamir will play a special cameo role in the Tamil superstar’s action thriller, Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. 

The specifics of Aamir’s role have been strictly kept under wraps, but it's believed to be a unique character Lokesh has thoughtfully crafted just for him. The director has designed a brief but powerful sequence with Aamir and Rajinikanth in the same frame, promising a memorable, mass-appealing moment for audiences while simultaneously elevating the film’s narrative. Aamir has given his dates and is supposed to shoot for this highly-thrilling cameo during the film's next schedule, beginning on October 15 in Chennai. 

Coolie, which marks Rajinikanth’s 171st film in the leading role, boasts a stellar ensemble cast that includes Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Sathyaraj and Mahendran. Aamir’s addition further doubles the excitement surrounding this film, while also adding fuel to the months-long rumours about his full-length feature collaboration with Lokesh Kanagaraj. Although it remains unclear if their speculated discussion was only about this cameo or if they would actually be working together on a feature movie soon, the possibility of Aamir Khan and Lokesh Kanagaraj working together has left moviegoers excited.

Aamir Khan has already committed for cameo roles in two films, and this Rajinikanth movie will mark his third one in the last six months. The other two films featuring him in cameo appearances will be Sunny Deol’s Lahore 1947 and Vir Das’ Happy Patel. On the work front, Aamir will next be seen in RS Prasanna’s Sitaare Zameen Par, which is expected to release in March 2025. Vijay Sethupathi fake Ratan Tata quote and Rajini's only South celeb to meet with the Legend

 

Rajinikanth is the only South film celebrity to post a picture of him bowing before the legend Ratan Tata and putting it as his homage on X.

Taking to X on Thursday, Rajinikanth shared a memorable picture of himself with Ratan Tata.
Along with the post, he wrote, "A great legendary icon who put India on the global map with his vision and passion .. The man who inspired thousands of industrialists.. The man who created lakhs and lakhs of jobs for many generations .. The man who was loved and respected by all .. My deepest salutations to him. I will forever cherish every moment spent with this great soul .. a true son of India is no more. .. Rest in peace #RatanTata."

Meanwhile Vijay Sethupathi among other celebs posted their homage and the quote that he chise was a one that the Legend never made. An X user posted the interview in which the iconic Industrialist in his calm manner pointed out that it was not made by him and that it has become a practice to keep quiet on such quotes attributed to him, untill it was pointed out to him.

Republic World reports that Ratan Tata posted a photo of himself with Sachin Tendulkar , only person from world of Entertainment in India. The other person is  Guns and Roses Rock band star and lead singer. Slash. : In January 2022, while visiting a Jaguar dealership in California, Ratan Tata unexpectedly met Slash, who was there to collect his new Jaguar XKR. As a fanboy, Tata Rata clicked a happy picture with the legend and posted it on social media with the caption: “The day I visited Galpin Jaguar on one of my retail outlet visits, I was excited to meet this gentleman from Guns N’ Roses who was taking delivery of his new Jaguar XKR. India Today reports : The 86-year-old co-produced a Bollywood film in 2004. He was involved in producing Aetbaar, a romantic psychological thriller directed by Vikram Bhatt, which starred Amitabh Bachchan, John Abraham, and Bipasha Basu.

Ratan Tata co-produced the film with Jatin Kumar. Aetbaar was inspired by the 1996 Hollywood movie Fear. It was produced under the banner of Tata BSS.

Vettaiyan ; A Director's Film - Like Rajini - Udhayam will continue

 

Udhayam theatre is not closing and Vettaiyan is not the last film. Theatre Manager has said that it will take time to close shop and it could be possibly after Sivakarthikeyan'a Amaran. Usually as I do not review a film.  I feel that though mine is a blog, I should not give my personal opinion on a film and exception being if the content is such and that it merits a public debate.

However as the Manager dashed my idea to preserve my ticket for  Vettaiyan since it was supposed to be last one in this iconic theatre and having seen it , I write about it. This is a T J Gananvel film. He has stuck to the subject as much as possible. The subject is about a encounter killing v/s arrest and conviction. Though the subject has been handled before and you expect TJ to take the Jai Bhim approach, he takes a new theme along with it - online entrance exams scam and kick starts with a murder of a teacher who stumbles upon a drug racket.

The problem with a Rajini film is that the Director fills in what is called Fan moments and this makes a non Rajini fan squirm and as a reviewer you write that the film is strictly for the fans. Here, I found only one or two moments like that and otherwise, if you look at it as a movie goer with no membership in any Rajini fan club, it is appealing. The message that one gets through Rajini character is that the cop in you should first do a soul searching before pulling the trigger and in short not be trigger happy.

Having seen all Rajini films as part of my job as a film journalist and a person who scripted for a documentary telecast on Japan official TV, I do not think any character in a Rajini film has stolen the limelight and that too in a role that is not an antagonist. In Vettaiyan, Fahadh Faasil does it and backed by a strong writing, he gets his teeth into it. No wonder Rajini said that he will wait for him till eternity.

Best actors in a Rajini film can do is that speak to all and sundry about and gush about Superstar before release. For Manju Warrier, this is yet another Tamil film and nothing more. Here however , she has a song to take home as a memento. Anirudh and his BGM is said to be heart of any film but I am no expert on this. If you ask me whether the BGM intensified Rajini on screen as  I think even otherwise, it would pass muster as Vettaiyan is not that dependent on BGM as Jailor.

To my generation the coming together of Rajini and Big B in one frame is memorable. But as I or my gen do not decide a film's success , TJ has kept it to the level it deserved. Rana Daggubatti compared to the bad guys in Rajini film is no great shakes. I am not an expert on technical aspects- I did not disturb me. A sensible film . Box office ? What till Monday fright .

Janhvi Kapoor Uljah axed Prabhas Salaar’s Hindi debut on Netflix, which garnered 1.6 million views in its opening week on the OTT giant.
